I have a function that works perfectly when I attempt to add a user from the same domain into a group of the same domain.
Function AddUserToGroup(ByVal strUserDN As String, ByVal strGroupDN As String, ByVal strGRPDC As String, ByVal strUserDC As String) As Boolean Dim oUser As DirectoryEntry
[Code]....
The error is actually being thrown on the Invoke line, but as I said earlier, if the user is in the same domain, this works perfectly.
So, I'm currently working on sending and receiving data via a serial port. In order to use readline, I need to send vbCrLf, which is fine. I'm trying to get it to display just the characters sent and not the additional characters like Cr and Lf. Here's the most basic part of my
SerialPort1.Write(HexSendBox.Text & vbCrLf) ReceiveBox.Items.Add("Received: " & SerialPort1.ReadLine()) The data I will receive in the ReceiveBox if I seng 'GG' is:
I am currently working on a project in where when a Coordinators ID is selected from a combo box, I need to strip an XML file and place the subject code and name in a list box. ("code" - "Name" - "Department number"). The xml file is written as follows. The main problem I am having is the fact the coordinatorsID is after the subect code, I have never dealt with this before.
I'm trying to reduce as much as I can my VB.Net assembly side, and I just figured out that all variable names were kept unchanged in the actual assembly. Since I tend to use pretty long var names, it adds up and, by running dotfuscator on my assembly, I could shrink it by as much as 10%.
I need to find next highest no in a field that is a stick ref it has chars at front and 0 padded How so I strip off front chars and 0's to get actual highest no number in the table field?Am using LINQ against entity framework?
I'm essentially re-learning VB for the first time in 15 years to try and accomplish this task - I have a project to do for work which involves taking .doc files which contain hundreds and hundreds of names, addresses, e-mail addresses, and amounts they donated to the non-profit I work at, and inserting them into Outlook's contacts. I'm trying to piece together the bit I've figured out about Outlook/VB integration to do so, but unfortunately, most of the information I can find is the other way around - getting info FROM Outlook and inserting it elsewhere.
The doc file is essentially formatted like this: FirstName LastName 423815 Central Park West FirstNameLastName@Somthing.com $3000.00 And repeat.
So for the email addresses, I obviously need to look for the @ and copy from the previous space or line break to the next - that's the theoretically easy part, along with the money donated, since I can similarly look for the $. The part that I forsee stumping me is, how to discern first and last name, and treat them accordingly, entering them into the right fields in Outlook? Same with the address.
I'm writing a small program that loads a folders contained file names into a list box, you then double click one of the file names listed and it appears within the programs text area where the user may freely edit it. I then have given the users options to export the data contained within the text box to a word template. What I'd like to do is add a button which the user can click in order to strip away all the html within the text areas content. I found a solution but for some reason I can't make it work. There are no errors displaying nor does the program crash out, it simply isn't doing what it should be doing.
The function I'm using is below: Function stripHTML(ByVal strHTML) 'Strips the HTML tags from strHTML using split and join 'Ensure that strHTML contains something If len(strHTML) = 0 Then stripHTML = strHTML [Code] .....
I've used the below snippet in an attempt to put the function to work in the text box. Private Sub btnHTMLstrip_click() ' calls function stripHTML, applies to text box richTxtBox.Text = stripHTML(richTxtBox.Text) End Sub So, its not working as it should?
I have a html string like this:[code]I wish to strip all html tags so that the resulting string becomes:From another post here at SO I've come up with this function (which uses the Html Agility Pack):[code]
i am trying to get a list of domains' and users' name on a computer so that users can select to run a program in other identity, but I can only find the current user and I can't find any post about getting these. Is there any post or any Identity classes that can help me to get all users and domains?
I have two .NET projects in the same domain. The first project I create long time ago in VB.NET. Now I create another project that I built in C#. How can I set up my new project in the same domain so I can access the new forms that I built in C#. Do I need to submit the whole folder from the project? Do I need to change anything in the web.config? Right now I am getting this error. [PhoneControl] is the new project in C#. [URL]
I have an app that I've developed that has a vb.net front end and a SQL Server 2000 database backend. I currently have it running fine on my machine and it also installs fine on all the users that are inside the domain that the app was written in. When I try to install my application on another domain it hangs and doesn't even run the install script.
Has anyone ever experienced problems installing an app accross domains?
Is there something that I need to code differently to make it non-domain specific?
When my system grants access to a user, it checks that the user is enrolled in a articular network domain. Once it is verified that the user is enrolled in that particular Domain, it takes his username to verify if he has a profile inside this system. This policy is very useful, because it exploits the security of the network domain, and the user does not have to memorize additional passwords. The problem is that this forbid access to the equipment that is not enrolled in the domain, which will be the case, if the equipment is Home Edition" or a user which try to get access from his home and a personal equipment.
For some reason, even though in the sitemap, the url is defined as "[URL]" or "home.aspx", the currentNode.URL always has the domain attached to the URL, creating bad urls like "[URL]" I've tried to figure out where [URL] was coming from by search my project and inside of my web.config file, but I can't seem to find it.
I'm building an application that connects to a SQL Server 2008 database via connection string. The thing is, since the computer loading the app (or the user, in either case) is outside the Active Directory domain, I can't use Windows Authentication to connect to the DB. But when I include the database credentials, it won't let me connect either, telling me that since the computer logging in is from an untrusted domain, access is denied.
i am trying to display the current domain name on my VB app. When a system running the VB app is connected to AD domain controller, it works fine..but when i run this VB when not connected to the domain, it crashes with error below. all i want to do is if appication cannot talk to a domain controller, display an error message."An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

In a single server Windows domain, does anyone know how to get the servername. For example, in my test environment, we have a single Windows Small Business Server 2008 called horatio, it is the domain controller for longtest.local.[code]However, I cannot seem to grab the servername, I need a function like :GetDomainServer() that will return horatio (from the example above.
