how can I improve coding structure, when there are a number of subs, functions using the same number of lines each time to make,open and close a connection to an Access database?
Can the lines of code to make and add a connection to the Access database be enclosed in one function and then called through function x () each time it needs to be used?
I want to create program in vb2008 express with ms access database. Can somebody help me so i can learn how to program using classes hard coded. I have learned vb6 before but it has a big difference on vb2008.

All the CAPITALIZED name are Table and all items inside the parenthesis are fieldnames. I don't know where to start on working on this RECORDS. I was able to understand visual basic 6 a bit, and i am trying to apply the coding to VB 2008 but all i get is errors. I am hopeless now and i need help to be able to start my programs. If someone can give me a sample code, i think i would be able to trace the line of code to be able to understand it. I am currently an inventory manager on the small company i was working with and i like to organize my record by using database.
This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. I have a database named "StudentData" with table "StudentDetails" with "RECNO" which is Auto Numbered (and is Primary key) and a number of different fields which accepts Students Name, class, accedemic year and so on.

The application will store the list of person's basic details such as name, age and country. I am trying to make an oledb connection to an Access database.
1. I added a component class.It said drag from the toolbox to add components.
2. I dragged over the Oledbconnection and OledbdataAdapter
3. I clicked on new connection string for the oldeb Connection and try to connect to the SHX.mdb datababase in the debug/ bin folder I don't have a username or password for the database and do not want to set one up.( is this possible in .net?)
4.As soon as I try to test the connection, I get the "invalid authorization specification" message. I can't get past this and do not really understand why I am getting this message.I have vb 2005 standard edition, not express edition.The exact same thing happens when I try to set up the data adapter to the shx.mdb database.
I am on XP2 and not logged in with a password or username. Could this be the issue or is there something else I am overlooking.Also, since I am coming from vb6 and ADO is there anyway to just write the code without having to use datasets, adapters and oledb connections to bound controls?
The project must have different user and each has username and password will be saved in my database but only the admin can add users.

Inotice the directory path (the location of source code, e.g. c:uild_viewsv70r3 ....)information is stored in the generated dll, exe.This gives us a lot trouble, because I can't use another path to build the dlls, otherwise the binary compare tool will say the dlls are different, due to embeded path info is different.We have parallel development, and the code has to be built in different machines, different paths. Is that correct? If it is correct, how can I fix it so that the max number of tabs is not hard coded?

I have created a login form which only allows access the valid users. However when I am trying to validate the username and password enetered when the user clicks the Login button (btnLogin). However I am unable to pass through the username and password in the Select statement, entered by the user beccause it gives me an error that 'txtloginname' and 'txtpassword' is not declared in the LoginProcess Private Sub. How do I declare the texboxes i coded into the LoginProcess Private sub for it to work?
Is there any real point to learn VB besides as an introductory to grasping the concepts of programming? You never (at least myself) hear of any apps like, Winamp, Windows, Firefox, etc. that used VB.

Then it falls to the catch block, and then routes to the HttpError action.. Twice! and then my Error.aspx view never opens, instead I get either no JSON result or a 500 internal server error... makes not a lick of sense to me. Basically, I don't know what I'm doing.
