In my master page I have a top-level menu that is created using ActionLinks:

Do I have to overload the ActionLink method to do this, or create an entirely new HtmlHelper, or is there a better way?
I have the following extension method that I've built and have working for one MVC3 project, but when trying to use it in another, the compiler (not the view) gives me the error;Error 1 'TextBoxFor' is not a member of 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper(Of TModel)'...Intellisense shows none of these html element shorcut methods.I'm sure it's just because I'm missing a reference or something, but beats me what it is.

Now, I know that a query in .NET doesnt look like this, this is my test in the SQL Design Studio. Naturally VB.NET variables will be used in place of the SQL local variables.My problem is this: All of the conditions after "WHERE" are optional. In that a query might be made that uses one, some, all, or none of the conditions. V.PropertyID and V.Value can also appear any number of times.In VB.NET I can make this query easy enough by simply concatenating strings, and using a loop to append the "V.PropertyID/V.Value" conditions.I can also make a Stored Procedure in MS SQL, which is easy enough.However, I want to accomplish this using LINQ.
Ive managed to dynamically create a form, and dynamically create a timer, but i have not been able to create the timer on the dynamic form. Specifically, i need to be able to have the timer itself create another form with a timer. (I realize that this would create a new form every interval on the timer, that is what i want to do)
1. A way to add the timer to the dynamic form, and maintain the timer sub on my main form.
2. A way to create the whole thing over (dynamic form and timer) through the previous dynamic form and timer.
I was thinking i could use a collection/array to store the forms and timers, but i'm still having trouble figuring out how to add entire forms or timers into a list. (A timer is not considered a control, so i cant use a controlcollection...)

I have a form that i need to be 100% Dynamic. So it could contain 10 labels maybe 100 who knows.
When you hover over a label there will be a different contextmenustrip to appear for each and every label. So all the contextmenustrips are Dynamic and contain 1 option maybe 2 options even 3 or 4 up to the users settings.
My problem is not creating a handler for when the user clicks on the contextmenustrips options. The problem is knowing which one of the options for that contextmenu was clicked!!
OK, I'm trying to display tooltip text for a dynamic edit box. Well, at least I'm trying to.
On my form, I've got a tool tip control which I've conveniently named ToolTip. My edit box displays OK. But, what I want to do is when the user hovers their mouse over the text box, I want the tool tip to display some text.
I think there are two problems that I'm having. I'm not convinced that I'm properly addressing a dynamic text box name. Ideally, I would want to be able to refer to the text box (but using a dynamic variable that will contain the prefix of the name). To hardcode, I would want to be able to achieve (not in this example but in theory): ABCDEFGt_0300.Text = "hello"

Below you will find a code sample that I have dummied up to try and demonstrate the issue I am having. However, this is just a dummied up piece of code. The actual program has noting to do with STUDENTS or TEACHERS. Basically, the problem I'm having is trying to have a CLASS within another CLASS each of which contain ARRAYS that need to be dynamic in size. The sample has a CLASS called STUDENTS that can have in theory many students, the number of which are unknown to the CLASS. I need to be able to add STUDENTS to the ARRAY programmatically.
The CLASSROOM Class should also be an Array since each TEACHER will have MANY Students. There will be only 1 Teacher for a given classroom but the SCHOOL will have MANY CLASSROOMS. Again, I need to programmatically add Teachers and Students without having predefined Array sizes. The code I have listed below will NOT work but it demonstrates what I am trying to achieve. I want to be able to reference the CLASS by using something like this ...

I feel like I should be able to use ARRAYLIST in both classes but haven't been able to get it to work. I've tried DIM'ing as ARRAY and can't get that to work either.If I can get ARRAYLIST to work then I shouldn't need to worry about expanding the array via UBOUND (if it's even possible).The REAL question is "How do I have a CLASS within a CLASS, each of which has ARRAYS that need to be dynamic in nature so they can be expanded as needed? The size of the array cannot be determined ahead of time".
REMEMBER . . . the actual program has nothing to do with Students and Teachers. This was just my way of demonstrating the issue using an analogy that I thought everyone could understand. I have about 20 asp:labels in my ASP page, all with ID="lbl#", where # ranges from 0 to 22. I want to dynamically change what they say. While I could write

for all 23 of them, I'd like to know if there is a way to loop through all of them and change their text.I thought of creating an array with all my labels, and then just do a For Each loop, but I also have to check if the element exists with IsNothing before I change its text, so I got stuck there.
I have an asp.net page which a user types in a "search" box, the code behind functions/subs etc produce a list of users matching the search criteria. In front of all the users returned in the search results, I have codded a html checkbox. Under the list of results, there is an "email users" button...
so.. I want to be able to click a number of checkboxes beside the results and then click on "email users" button which should take me to another page with email functionality so an email can be sent to all the previously selected users My confusion is over getting the "selected" user list from the results into the email page.
Because the checkboxes are manually coded within the code-behind file (ie the code basically generates a bit of html and pushes it into a label "placeholder", so I dont get any control functionality to get the checkboxes using the vb code, or can I?

I have a ContextMenu attached to a tray notifyIcon and I already have it on the form in design mode. If I look at it in design mode I can see evereything that I have on the main pop-up context menu. What I am trying to do is add to one of those choices programatically. Worked fine in VB6.I am reading in a list of filenames from a directory and want to place them as menu items in the 2nd level of the context menu.

i am to generate a line graph in vb.net. The graph should be something dynamic. I have a program calculating total distance, therefore in my output window i have iteration number and its corresponding value.
I have to plot the graph as iteration number by iteration value.I have tried an offline graph where i saved the values of the iterations and then draw the graph with the values.
But this is not what i am actually suppose to do. The graph should be generated simultaneously as the processing is being done. I am finding this a bit tough to do.

Writing a VB app that uses a webservice. The URL for this webservice will change based on where the app is running from so I need to change it at runtime. I see that by default the web reference URL has its behavior set to "Dynamic" which means I should be able to change it at runtime, but at the same time the app.config file has the Scope set to "Application," which means it's read-only at runtime. I'm looking to use My.Settings.WebServiceURL = "new url" but in order to do this the scope has to be set to User... I think. But if that's the case then what does the "Dynamic" behavior do for me? Can someone give me a code example of how I can change this at runtime?

I have briefly looked at .net and written a few simple programs.I need to write a server application that incorporates some kind of dynamic web pages. I have looked at ActiveX, php and asp. I need to create a website where users will log in and change values in an array. I have not done anything like this before and I am not a professional programmer.
So my question is, what is the best and easiest way to create dynamic web pages?Secondly what should I program in, vb6 or .net. I have done a lot of work in vb6 and know it quite well, however if the host server is NT6.1 I will have to supply the vb dlls. Then there is .net which I have not done much of, however I would not need to supply any extra files and finally I will start to move any from vb6.
I have an Excel workbook that organizes and graphs test data. It contains several named tabs. The tabs were named forone specific use of the spreadsheet. In order to broaden the function of the workbook so that it can be used for a varietyof tests I would to make the tab names dynamic. For example I would like the user to select a test step from a drop down menu (say Test Step 1). From that drop down menu I would populate a different cell with what I want the tab name to be (C - Test Step 1).

The above result returns both 'element' nodes however it should only return the first where element/subelement@id=1/subsubelement@id=3 However if results.Ancestors. is used it returns the correct 'subelement' and if that line is not included it returns a single 'subsubelement' whih is also correct I don't understand why when mvoing to the 'element' it returns both (I realise both have a subelement with id=1 but I thought each further query would filter out the presvious results)?
