I'm creating a simple web browser. I have a combobox for the url address bar. I'd like the combobox to drop down and display the sites that have already been viewed. I think I can use the BeforeNavigate2 event to do this but I'm unsure how to use it.

Apparently, there is some kind of "bug" or "feature" in 64-bit Windows that prohibits a 32-bit app from "seeing" certain icons. Testing this is simple:Create a basic Windows Form app on a 64-bit machine.In the Project Properties, go to Compile > Advanced Compile Options > Target CPU. Set Target CPU to "x86".Add a button to your app that triggers an OpenFileDialog. Run the app and click the button to open the OpenFileDialog.Browse to: C:UsersDefaultAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsMaintenance
You should see the "Backup and Restore" shortcut, but its icon will be a blank white sheet. (If you don't see it there, it might be in C:Users[MyUser]AppDataetcetcetcMaintenance).
Now, close your app... go back to Project Properties > Compile > Advanced Compile Options > Target CPU and set Target CPU back to "AnyCPU" (this will cause it to run as 64-bit).Run the app and browse to the same folder. Part of the app I am writing allows users to create an encrypted, password-protected output file that they can email safely to a central store. I can't have the users choose their own password for the encryption as the central store needs to access the contents of all the output files emailed to it. So there is one password that gets set within my vb app.I am worried that security will be compromised if the vb executable is somehow deconstructed? Is it possible to read the contents of an exe file (and thus find out the password)?
View 3 RepliesI am working on some sort of client + project management system. Each client can have many projects, many projects can have many staff. The Link (Junction) table allows for many staff members to be linked to the projects. I have attached the relationships which have been put together in Access 2007. In order to display the data in my VB forms, I am making use of OleDb, by having a OleDbDataAdapter and DataSet. I am using SQL queries to select, insert etc data from the original database tables.
My issue; I can't work out the best way to link the data together so it can be viewed on one form. So once I access Client 1, I can see the projects they have with us, and then within that, all the staff they have working on that project.

View 2 Repliesi have a dataset that i am viewing in detail view i can enter a new record and save it fine but the auto ID field enters as (-1) after i save it does not automatically change the (-1) to a number so i need to clear the dataset then refill it to give it a genuine number to prevent concurrency violations. my problem is after i refill the dataset it returns to the first record in the dataset not the last entered record, how do i get it to return to the last record.

i am using an unbound datagridview so i can dynamiclly add rows. all that is working fine. but the grid is not is the location i have coded.. i am using the defualt form as a base then coding the unbound stuff in.. should i just create a blank class file and do everything? the only problem i am having is the grid must bees in the correct location according to the pixel point that i have given it. Right now it is placing the grid at point (0,0) no matter what point is entered on the line for location. so what am i missing??????

I have 2 group box components and both are same size,font,location and visible is false. When i click button2, the groupbox1 won't appear(the group box2 is on bottom n group box1 is on top).
Example:

Because i want to show the different,so the location have a little different(actually both are same location). I think my code is no problem. The problem i guess is both component cannot locate at same location?
we have a user that my program works fine for.. and another that it just crashes for.. they get this error

then they run it up again and it comes up.. and then just closes..in reading some stuff online it says its a framework 2.0 sp 1 issue ?these pc's have 3.5, but my program uses all 2.0 stuff..so is this a 2.0 sp level issue ? or should I make my programs start to use framework 3.0 instead ?
I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.
View 5 RepliesI have encounterd a problem when trying to re-enstall a program i have writen in vb 2008.I get the following message:"You cannot start application Shell from this location because it is already installed from a different location."This program is to be used on many workstation computers and i need to be able to update any changes by just reinstalling the program, no uninstalling needed first. If the program was installed from a cd first and needs to be updated from a flash disk this error will be a problem, if the update is from a cd as well then there is no problem.Is there a way to change the installation package to ignore where the program installs from and just update itself?

What Im making is like a face book and tagged login from my app
1. I have Combobox with 3 urls in there ( Facebook.com Tagged.com and Bebo.com )
2. I have a Form2 with webbrowser
3. I have a Button when clicked it should open up my form 2 and preview of the website which I selected in my combobox in form1
