I have a form with a lot of PictureBoxes. I created an array of these by name, but when I index the array I cant assign an image to the indexed item. In fact all the indexes appear to be nothing. Is there a way to create an array of controls and access them from the array?
Is it possible to select an item in one listbox and then display the data of another listbox with the same indexed position? I am planning a project and this is something I would like to attempt but I haven't figured out how to do it.[code..]
I tried doing the above code but instead of displaying the listbox text the message box just returned false.
I wish to create a drop-down list box with items in it. Easy to do and done that. What I also wish to to is assign a numerical value to each list item. I believe under VB6 is was done using the list's `Value` property to set and get the item. It's so I can write a one byte value to a file but display a text value on the form. Don't wish to mess wish classes and arrays, but if I have to I guess it'll be have to be done.Was looking at some examples of making in-memory arrays/datasets for a list-box but just sees like a programming overkill for the simple thing I wish to do.Put it another way....
List box item 1 = "First option". List box value 1 = 35 List box item 1 = "Second option". List box value 1 = 44 List box item 1 = "Third option". List box value 1 = 3
If the user selects "Second item" from the drop down list box then that property do I use to retrieve that list item's value `44`. Also, when I pprogramatically populate the drop-down list, how to I set each lite item's `Value` property accordingly. As in the example 35, 44 and 3 Tried using `SelectedItem` and `SelectedValue`?
assign a particular value to each item in a combo box? Or, alternatively, some similar control? Specifically, I want a drop down list to select from a list of countries. I then want to get the ISO 2 letter abbreviation for the selected country. I could have a section of code like this
selected_country = cmb_country.SelectedItem.ToString() if selected_country = "Afghanistan" Then country_code = "AF" ELSE IF selected_country = "Aland Islands" Then
[code]....
but this will get rather tedious.Is there an easier way to do it? I would like to be able to assign a value to each line in the list, like
Afghanistan, AF Aland Islands, AX Albania, AL
then get the value for the selected item. Is this possible? If not with a combo box, then any other control?
I am trying to figure out if i can assign a numerical value to an item in the check box. I have two forms one with the checkbox and another that will show the total amount based on what was checked in the checkbox.
I am trying to develop a recipe manager that allows a user to create a shopping list. I've already determined that I want to use a list view for this job. I want to be able to group the items in the shopping list by the appropriate grocery aisle (i.e. Dairy, Bread, Canned Goods, etc.) I'm not sure how to assign the items to the appropriate group as the user selects each item.
I haven't started actually building the application yet as i'm still in the development stage, but i have been testing the list view out to figure out how it works. i've figured out how to add items. i just don't know how to specify the group that each item should belong to.
Now I can't use cmbReplcmnt.Text because what I actually need is the value of that SelectedItem
So problem is, if the user leaves the combobox as blank, it throws a null exception.I decided to use the IIf function then:classEquipmentItem.ReplacementTo = IIf(IsNothing(cmbReplcmnt.SelectedItem.ToString), classEquipmentItem.ReplacementTo = "", cmbReplcmnt.SelectedItem.ToString)
Unfortunately I still get the error I tried using a Try-Catch for it and it worked, but I don't want to rely on the Try-Catch, so I was wondering is there a another way to work this through?
Depending on a key value in my database I want to display one of two images in my resource folder. Basically if my database value contains M I want to show image M in my picture control. Also when I save I need to check which image is loaded to write back either M or T.
I have a List wich contains names of all images that is going to be used in the application. I want to loop through all the pictureboxes and assign each image to a picture box. I tried this:
I am trying to assign a button to let a resource ( JPEG image ) become the background of my form. But instead, the background becomes blank. Here is what I wrote:
Public Class Choose_Background Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Me.BackgroundImage = My_Project.My.Resources.african_lion

Admin assigns the authority and get a new form to the new assign in with vb.net & access. I am not sure about this,I need a way to do the new form assigned? How?Actually, this project is the admin will assign the authority to a manager, and the manager will get the password to log in. Then, the manager once log in and will get a form to set the rooms who is going to use and date, etc, this is multi-manager to handle the room setting jobs.But, I think, I got stuck, I am not sure how to do the new form, HOW DO YOU ASSIGN THIS NEW FORM FOR EACH NEW MANAGER?????? THIS IS VB.NET WITH ACCESS.
i'm new to vb.net.is it possible to link item in drop down list to image? for example if i click "computer" in the drop down list, the image of the computer will appear. sorry if my question sounds silly. i'm really a newbie in vb.
I got a Combobox with some items (item1-item7) to select and 54ish Buttons(sButton1-sButton54). Also an array(53) called Buttons. The array is filled with the items to select, like: Buttons(0) = "item 1, item 2" Everytime another item in the Combobox is selected, I'd like only some of the Buttons to change their Image. Therefore I got the array. If Item 1 is selected and Buttons(0) contains the item1 I'd like to change the Button1's image.edit: It works with changing the image of every Button:
sButton1.Image = My.Resources.image1
But I'd prefer to change all in one go (Loop) instead.
I have 52 listview items in my listview1 and I have a picturebox basically I want it where I can click on a single item in the listview and display an image from a url in the picturebox. I basically have it right now that when you click on any item in the listview it just shows the same image in the picturebox no matter which item it is. I need to figure out how to do it separately for each item.
I'm creating a Win Form app in VB Express 10, which includes an animation. While the animation is running, it would be helpful to fade (maybe 50% opacity) a tool strip menu item's image so that it would not distract from the animation. I've tried to change the item's transparency in the property drop down, with no effect. I think I would need a function to add to the animation start button to fade the tool strip menu item's image to 50%. Then if the animation stops, or the image is clicked, a function to re-establish 100% opacity.
I am trying to change the image in a picture box using a combobox with item collections 0-8.When I run the program no matter what I choose in the combobox it selects case 0 and willnot change. code below for selected index changed.
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e
I have a listbox and I want to loop through each of the items to see if the string im looking for is inside. I know I could do .contains but that wouldnt look at substrings. The code im using looks like this:
While tempInt > Listbox.items.count then if searchString.contains(listbox(tempInt)) then end if tempInt+=1 end while
Everything in the loop is fine but VB gives an error on the listbox(tempInt) part. The error is "class windows.forms.listbox cannot be indexed because it has no default value". get around the default value crap? I tried putting in a blank string but no change.
I'm trying to build a project where I have a set of products in a listbox. When you select an item in the listbox, a picturebox shows the preview of that certain product.I practically finished the entire project as well as the picture part; however, I realized that the way I set up the coding, I used image locations from my hard drive meaning that someone can't view them on another computer.This is a portion of my coding:
[highlight="Dim PicSelection As String PicSelection = ListBox1.SelectedItem Select Case PicSelection[code].....
