Associate Multiple User Input Fields Using A For / Next Loop?

Mar 20, 2012

VB.NET 2008 windows app form.I have a groupbox with several checkboxes, comboboxes, and textboxes within it.With the help of StackOverFlow members, I've learned how to use the FOR/NEXT loop to find all checkboxes that are checked.[code]As you can see by the code sb.tostring will print every checked checkbox name on its own line. How do I associate the proper combobox.selecteditem, textbox.value, and checkbox name to print out on the same line. When I say proper...example; checkbox=pen, combobox=color, textbox=quantity.Let's say my other checkboxes are different items and the rest of the boxes are the same.

Get User Input Data Into The Loop Of The Input Box?

Nov 3, 2011

Option Strict On Public Class Form1 Private Sub btnDistance_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDistance.Click 'The btnEnterSpeed click event accepts and displays up to ten speeds from the user'and then calculates and displays average speed

[Code]...

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now

VS 2008 - Validation Functions / System Displays A Message Telling The User To Input Any Fields?

Apr 1, 2010

iam currently working on my uni project and i have encountered a problem with valadation section. My system displays a message telling the user to input any fields that they have missed out on, listing the name of the field. However as these IF functions are in order the user must input the data in the order of how it is in the code. for example if the "consweight" is inputed and the calculate button is pressed, it thinks that all valadation above it has occured, when those fields are still empty.

Validate User Input - Loop Conditional Statements To Indicate Errors?

Mar 20, 2011

I have several text boxes I need to validate. I am not understanding how to validate in Visual Basic 2008. So I deployed standard If Statements to handle bad data. I am having two problems.

Lets say the user entered wrong data, example, numbers; an error message is displayed. The text boxes cannot contain numbers, be left empty or contained characters, like !@#$. The problem is if the user enter text, and then entered a wrong data again the code does not work or display error message. How can I make the conditions so that they throw out error message even if the user had previously entered good data.

Another example: If the user enter good data in text box 1 and bad data in text box 2, the error message does not work.

Finally, how do I filter out characters to allow only text. Is there a way to use this code on multiple text boxes with out writing the entire code for each form control?

Here are the conditional statements.
Private Sub btnDataSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDataSubmit.Click
If IsNumeric(txtDataEntry.Text) Then
lblErrorDisplay.Text = "Invalid Name!"
lblErrorDisplay.BackColor = Color.Red

Multiple/massive User Input?

Jun 22, 2010

i am developing a small windows application in vb.net using visual studio 2005.i want to design a form where user can enter multiple records.like we want to design a "bill" form where user can create the bill for any no of items.there are 4 colmns in it : item no , item name , quantity , price.

my requirement is that if user user a particular item from the list of item in first column then the column "item name" get filled automatically from the database. then user can enter qty , price for that item.on clicking a save button all the data entred by user should get saved in a table in SQL database.

now user can create bill for 1,2 or more items. so no of rows are variable.

HOW could i achieve this using vb.net and SQL server 2005 as databse.

Save User Input From Multiple Textboxes To Text File?

Sep 18, 2010

Is there a simple way to save user input from MANY controls (textboxes, comboboxes, etc...) to a text file? When I say 'MANY', I am referring to at least 580 textboxes and several dozen comboboxes.

I may be able to accomplish this using the StreamWriter Class, but doing this individually would take quite a long time. I suppose I could also change all text boxes to richTextBoxes and save to .rtf. It seems like this would be even more time consuming.

Surely there is a simpler way to do this 'globally', perhaps with an added single line of code that points (and saves) to a preset or created text.txt file whenever text is added or changed in a textbox or combobox throughout the program.

Associate Colors With A A Specific User In A Datatable

May 20, 2012

On my datatable (I hope that's the correct word) I have two columns that I want to store color values. I changed the data type to "System.Drawing.Color".

However it would appear I cannot simply type in the string (e.g: "Color.Black") to add it to the database. And when using an update SQL query and make it look for color values on the form, it wants to convert them to string.

Is it possible to store color values like this in this way or do I have use another method?

Controling Dynamic Input Fields - Webbrowser - .Net Forms?

I have VS 2008 and am working in VB.Net forms.I have a webbrowser control where I am trying to control input fields that are dynamically created. If a text field has proper handles such as id and name tags there aren't any problems. For example, I am trying to work with twitter for posts. I know twitter has an API but I want to work with many similar systems and want to avoid the API as its case specific and I want to scale things within the VB.Net form. The login fields for twitter are easily handled, however
the posting field once your logged in is just a text area with a class. There is a tagname but I have been unable to post using the tagname element.

Ms SQL: Adding Fields In Sql In Each Loop Automatically

May 8, 2012

i have an SQL statement which i need to code in vb:

create
table r2 (salesno
bigint, prodno1

[Code]....

Note that in this "2nd loop"

- the table name is now r3 from r2 in the first SQL statement

- there are now prodno1, prodno2 and prodno3 instead of just prodno1 and prodno2

- in the WHERE clause, the p.prodNo becomes p.prodNo2

and so on and so forth.. so for the 3rd loop

- there's going to be r4

- there's going to be prodno4

- in the WHERE clause i will use p.prodNo3

what should i do? is there an array or something that i can use here?

Auto-fill A User Input Control With The User's Windows?

User Input - Tje User Can Type In Data To Such A Parts QTY Cost

Mar 11, 2010

I need something tje user can type in data to such a parts QTY cost etc. There are no predefined parts list so the user can enter any part name/Number and there is no limit to amount of parts that can be entered.

Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.

Input Box And Do Until Loop

Dim RPM As Single
txtDisplacment.Text = Displacment
txtRPM.Text = RPM
Do Until "N" Or "n"
Loop
End Sub

That is my code so far. I am confused on how to do a do until loop withna input box that will onyl have "N""n" or "Y""y" in it. The text for the input box is "Do you wish to continue?" Then you enter Y for example which then has to make the textboxs blank and put the focus on the first one and then repate the process until the user enters N.

Clearing Multiple Text Fields

Aug 2, 2010

I tried searching for a solution, but couldn't find anything, so if I am re-asking a common question, don't beat me too badly. For a class, I have to create a form that allows someone to enter in the names of six students, as well as five test scores each. It also averages the scores, and displays them in a label.

What I am wondering is if there is a way to clear the text from all 36 text fields, as well as the 6 labels without having to do everything individually?
I could certainly go through, and write out txtField1.text = String.Empty 36 times, but it seems there would be a more elegant solution. Also, if there is a way to do so, would the same would apply for putting the data entered into an array, or saving it to a file?

Multiple Search Fields In Datatable?

Jun 22, 2010

is there a way i can get my datatable to have multiple constraints that are attached to a unique id? an example of what i'm talking about is if i have a unique machine but it's on many lines, can i show that somehow in a datatable? the reason i'm asking is that i have code that sorts the data by line number and shows the relevant machines in a combo box based on the line selection out of another combo box. i'm having to input the data into the datatable (as a starting point for the data base) and it's very tedious. i'm entering machines that have the same name in multiple rows because the line number is different. i can't figure out how i can add multliple values into my line number column so that it will sort properly when queried.an example of what i'm asking with regard to the datatable is as follows:

Machine LineNumber
slicer Line 1, Line 2, Line 4
conveyor belt Line 1, Line 6

So that when called to fill the combo box, the correct one is called. The code i'm using to sort right now is as follows:

Private Sub linecbo_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles linecbo.SelectedIndexChanged
Dim cline As String
