Automatically Stop Recording After Some Seconds?
Sep 8, 2009
I achieve to record and stop recording (manually with a button).
Now i want somehow to automatically stop recording after some seconds.
I used the following methods which did not work:
1. Used a timer to call the stoprecording function (I found out that while recording the timer did not work) I tested it with an msgbox and i was right, the msg box appeared 5 secs after pressing the stoprecording button!!!!
2. Used the System.Timers.Timer but nothing
3. I tried the CAPTUREPARMS structure but i`m doing something wrong and it doesn`t record.
Here`s my initialization:
Dim MyParams As New CAPTUREPARMS
With MyParams
.dwRequestMicroSecPerFrame = 66667

I need to record the screen when my user clicks start, and stop recording when he clicks stop.I've searched for a while on this subject, and I have found nothing.I want to do this without adding any files to my project, I just want to use some built in function in Visual Basic, and start recording, or even take a snapshot and add it to an AVI file or something...These are some sites I have found:

This code is in VB6, but I am not sure how to even start using it?

1) how do you stop recording with avicap32.dll without saving the file?
2) How do you remove the recorded file
3) Where the recorded file is stored during recording? is it possible to give an address before starting to record?

I have build using the computer Performance counter a Stop Watch class with a precision of 1 Microseconds ( 1/1000 of a milliseconds )It works good but While building this class I had a problem And found a work around to it. But I am not please with this work around. As you may know, the CLR does not create it's object at the time where you declare them, but when they are first needed. So, while building a class that a timer with such precision, the elapsed time, you will get include the time used by the CLR to build the class. This is a problem since it takes 700 to 800 microSecond to do so.I have try using a code like the one I post here, try using start/stop method, try builing the class as native code API etc. And always the same problem,I get some CLR time include in the elapsed time. The work around I finaly found is to use the fact that the CLS will recycle an object if you dispose of an object and recreate immediately after.
So, what I do, is create the timer, dummy use it, dispose of it and recreate it to actualy do work with it. Here again, I get a small CLR work time of 3 to 4 Microseconds for recycling work.I have no hope to find a better solution using a managed code class, but I am sure that there is a way to put in memory from managed code, an unmanaged class that will be ready to be use by the managed code.If you try to run it, the first time you will click the button, you will get an extra 3-4 microseconds on the result.[code]

I have tried to add a splash page to my app. I've tried the MinimumSplashScreenDisplayTime" Property, but it doesn't seem to work. (Don't bother trying to explain that to me again. I've given up on that.) Therefore, I will just work the splash screen as a form (like everything else). start it when the application starts and close it (automatically) after 4 seconds?

I have a thumbnail control where I am adding Images using openfiledialog and after adding it automatically scrolls down.
So I would like to stop scrolling the scrollbar and just append the Images.
I have tried using this code:
Thumbcontrol1.VerticalScroll.Value=0
It worked fine but the scrollbar is at the bottom and it shows me the first row of Images.
And this is my second attempt by doing this way:
I have just set the autoscroll property to false and it hides the scrollbars and I'm stuck with this so how do I scroll the remaining Images?
And Is there any other method to hide scrollbars and just scroll the Images using mouse? Or any other simpler way to get rid of this?

Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.

I am trying to record many small MP3 files from my computer's microphone. There are numberous examples using mciSendString Library "Winmm.dll" to record .wav files. I find the .wav quality to be lacking and I really want to record straight into the MP3 format rather than converting my .wav files.

i recently downloaded a demo game "Delta Force Xtreme 2 BETA". the game it's self, looks like vb3 does when compared to vb.net 2oo8.. one thing about it, on the startup screen, it plays a decent track of music..
i want to record that sound, in wav format, i guess, directly from my speakers. i googled all day, hoping to learn something about playing/recording sound, and i got nowhere.. so i finally decided to post here, after searching the forum for answers, again, without any luck..
i'm not looking for links to sites that the code is not tested before the link is posted.
just a form with 3 buttons. 1 to record, 2 to stop and save, and 3 to play. again, the sound should be recorded directly from the speakers.

Am new to the VB platform and have only been messing around with 2008 for a few months, off and on.Have built a rotational inertia based Dynamometer for personal use in my R/C hobby.Have written some code that allows me to read roller frequency, that is then figured to roller RPM,and eventually ,vehicle ground speed.
Now before anyone shoots me down,( I don't mean this to be sarcastic, but I have received negativity on other forums) I know that ,because of various interupts on my P.C.,that the windows timers aren't all that accurate, causing me to miss incoming signals that screw up my measurements, and the best thing is an external aquisition unit.Let me just say that I run my VB program parallel to an external frequency counter, and have at any given time a difference of max. 8 hz at higher revs. Also I use an external timer based counter that figures the ground speed ,and it also is within a half KmH.This is only a hobby for me and that's close enough.Someday I may build something that does the computing externally and gives it to VB,but for now.........So now to the good part
Here's my question: How can I write code that will let me record the RPM ,from TextBox2, at each timer interval, and have them listed?
I need this to calculate the RPM changes per interval in order to establish "angular acceleration" ,for further calculations.
In Addition,I need a way for my program to know when something changes or does'nt.If I start my programm and don't run the dyno ( no signals) then it will start saving a bunch of zero's that I don't need, and when I get to the end of the run,the RPM will top off(no change in signals)but keep saving. The best would be,start recording when the 1st signal is detected and stop recording when the signals stop changing, and tell me I can stop.
But I'm not that advanced.........yet.
The next problem is that I have no idea, depending on what vehicle I test, how many intervals will be recorded, as one may or may not take longer to reach max.RPM.
Heres what I have so far:
Public Class Form1
Dim product1 As Double
Dim product2 As Double
[code]...

My project uses an MS Access Database, and amongst other things records the current cost of a series of categories which are regularly updated, thereby erasing the previous entry. However, I need to retain all previous costs to produce a history graph for given periods. I have considered importing an Excel spreadsheet, but having a functioning database it seems sensible to use it.
