I have build using the computer Performance counter a Stop Watch class with a precision of 1 Microseconds ( 1/1000 of a milliseconds )It works good but While building this class I had a problem And found a work around to it. But I am not please with this work around.As you may know, the CLR does not create it's object at the time where you declare them, but when they are first needed. So, while building a class that a timer with such precision, the elapsed time, you will get include the time used by the CLR to build the class. This is a problem since it takes 700 to 800 microSecond to do so.I have try using a code like the one I post here, try using start/stop method, try builing the class as native code API etc. And always the same problem,I get some CLR time include in the elapsed time.The work around I finaly found is to use the fact that the CLS will recycle an object if you dispose of an object and recreate immediately after.
So, what I do, is create the timer, dummy use it, dispose of it and recreate it to actualy do work with it. Here again, I get a small CLR work time of 3 to 4 Microseconds for recycling work.I have no hope to find a better solution using a managed code class, but I am sure that there is a way to put in memory from managed code, an unmanaged class that will be ready to be use by the managed code.If you try to run it, the first time you will click the button, you will get an extra 3-4 microseconds on the result.[code]

After I write my code and try to run the program, the seconds will not start,
I know in the older versions of Visual Studio, there was an "Add Watch" option where you can choose to stop execution when the value of the field changed. I am using VS 2010, and I can't figure out how to hit the breakpoint when the value of the field changes.
I achieve to record and stop recording (manually with a button).
Now i want somehow to automatically stop recording after some seconds.
I used the following methods which did not work:
1. Used a timer to call the stoprecording function (I found out that while recording the timer did not work) I tested it with an msgbox and i was right, the msg box appeared 5 secs after pressing the stoprecording button!!!!
2. Used the System.Timers.Timer but nothing
3. I tried the CAPTUREPARMS structure but i`m doing something wrong and it doesn`t record.

When will VB be supported in the Micro Framework? it seames as there is a lot of new technology comeing out of MS lately leaving VB behind, insted of in step with C# like origionaly promised.I know that the VB compatibility dll has yet to be ported, but if this is the only hang-up, skip it for now and get some eary adopters playing with it.most of us can read C# so VB documentation is not hugely needed, just a few quick samples in the SDK.Please help, the company I work for could have soo many applications for this tech, but we are commited to VB for it's ease of use and it's natural synthax for reading.

i m currently working on application that has to monitor temperature and humidity of a particular place and constantly report the same to the user over internet. So far, I m using LPC1768 and its ethernet module collect the data, process it and send it to the router. On the other side, i have a computer which is connected to the same router and running a VB application where the data is mined and reported in a excel.
This setup works just fine. Now, i want to monitor the same data over internet. How can i do the same? Here i was able to connect to the micro-controller using the IP 192.168.1.100 port 80. I m aware that the IP is a local one and to access the micro controller from Internet there is another way.I have a IP based webcam which enables us to monitor from internet. How should i make micro-controller data be accessible from internet.(similar to IP Camera).

Quick question - if I have a timer set to 5000 (5 seconds) and the code in the timer takes longer than 5 seconds to run because of sql stuff, will the timer wait until the code is done till it fires again?
Alright, so I'm still working on the slot machine. I have three timers all independently going for my three "wheels" of the slot machine.
My issue, is that I'm trying to make a Stop button to stop each timer one at a time, and I'm not understanding why this code isn't working. The logic completely makes sense, and the first "wheel" stops when I click the button, however, it doesnt appear to stop the other two timers.
i have a variable that changes every few minutes and I am trying to find out the best way of going about 'watching' that variable and simply changing the text of a label based on the returned variable
so pseudo code on a button click at the moment i have a function that returns this variable
label1.text=myfunction.getName()so this works fine , It seem ugly to have some kind of sleep function that loops every couple of seconds to run myfunction.getName() every 2 seconds , as a bit of a newbie , I am just wondering how I can set up a function that basically says 'when myfunction.getName() changes , then change label1.text'
i have a next button that is enabled only after a textbox is filled its working fine but the problem when a user fills the textbox it will be enabled then clears the textbox it will stay enabled and he can proceed how to stop that ?

The problem is when a change occurs in the folder the program exits with no error code. I've read a few related posts and I know it has something to do with thread safety. However I've no idea how to make this program "thread safe".
I'm testing a window application which was written in VB.Net 2003.I set a few BreakPoints and Debug the project.When the debugger hit one of the breakpoints, it stops at there. Its correct.But when I try to add one of the variables to "Watch", it said "error: cannot obtain value".I tried to search the Net and found that some said "its because of structures", some said "its because of passing too many parameters." and some said "its because of too many line of codes (LOCs)".but my problem is not in passing parameters or too many line of code.the function i set breakpoint has only around 300 LOCs (including around 100 line of comments)And the value I tried to get is from my TreeView which is on my Win Forms.its very strange that I can't even get the value from Forms.
I remember in vb6 you could set a watch on a variable and tell it to break when that value changes. I see where you set a watch value in 2005, but I don't see where you can set it up to break when the value changes.Am I missing something or did they remove this functionality?
I have a simple application that use thread pool to read a file and input the data into a listbox. I want to be able to stop threadpool from running after clicking a stop button. How do I stop threadpool? Here is the code for my application below:

I created a form and have the variable inputs for 4 motor run statements. Then with a start button the script starts and it is surrounded by a for next statement to loop 10 times. It works fine but if i need to stop the execution of the script with a stop button. I put the stop in a new section but of course does not work to do a motor stop. It just causes the exe to not respond till the loop is complete. Just need to be able to stop the Run1_Click button section.
Edit:I do not mind if it finishes the 4 motor run commands and then stops execution of the loop. So need to figure out a way to trigger a stop from a button on the form to stop the cycle. For the future the loop will be a variable integer input so 10 will not be the standard.
Edit::Does a ' Do ' statement sound like the thing to use? If so how and where would I place that? Have a Stop button on the form and it would stop after the 4th motor run command.
