I need to identify an ID number and a password. Like this,(Form1) there's a two textboxes, one is the ID number and the second one is the Password, when I enter the two it means i Log-in, the system needs to identify if the ID number and the password is registered in mySQL, then if it is registered a message box will appear "You are log-on" and a form will show (form2) in 10 to 15 seconds that is having the information of the student, then it will automatically close then it will go back to the form1 which the another user will log-in again.
(this is Form1 too) then here is my second problem, like what i said in the first problem, the program needs to identify that the student is already log-on the school and he is going to log-out, (like this, system is going to identify that the id number and the password is already declared on the first form, so it will be the log-out code, then a message box will appear "You are Log-out".
(Form3) then here is my third problem, i need to identify how many people is inside the campus and not going out on the campus. The person or student that is not logging-out on the program or the system will be count when i click the Button 'Count' and the number of student inside the campus will be display in a 'Label'(it will be inserted also or having record on mySQL tableInside).
('Form4') then my fourth problem is the system needs to identify how many students did log-in on the campus. Or the system will identify how many person input their ID Number and Password on the first form ('Form1', it will be inserted or having record on mySQL tableLog).
I'm writing a little application that needs to detect when a USB Mouse is Connected and Disconnected. I am running into a dead end when trying to determine the best way detect this. View 4 RepliesI am writing a small app that is retrieving data from a device connected to a virtual com-port. I connect without problems to the device using the settings 9600-8-N-1.
I need to send the command <esc>MS , the device then sends back the data to a computer. I have tried this using Hyperterminal with success. I also did this with Excel and VBA. I used the MSComm32 Active X control:

This returns the error message "Error: expecting a command". I have done som tests in HyperTerminal, and have concluded with:
-If I dont send <esc>, I get error "Expecting a command"
-If I send wrong command (ie MD instead of MS) i get error "Bad command"
Based on this, I suspect that I don't pass the escape character correctly to my device. So I wonder how to do this?
On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:

View 1 RepliesI have 2 winforms, one acts as server (ie Winform:Server role) and another one as client (ie Winform: Client role). In my LAN setup, there are 6 PCs and these PCs connected to each other via a 8-port switch and each PC has more than 1 LAN card.
There is one PC running [Winform: Server role] and 5 others running the [Winform: client role]. I need to clarify my intention. My current approach to my intention maybe incorrect. I attempt to create a 'zero configuration client-server networking' and that is plug & play. The server will know where the client and vise versa. I know there is a program (i.e. MaxiVista) has done that exactly.
MaxiVista has 2 applications, i.e. server and client. Users only need to execute the server application in PC designated as server role and execute the client application in another PC designated as client role. Then the server will be able to find all executing clients in the same LAN.
My intention is just that. Plug and play 'zero configuration client-server networking' within the same LAN.
an application working with a modem through usb virtual port,on every different computer it gives different COM port numbers so I have to guess it. How to get COM port number by friendly name like in Windows Device Manager if i know GUID, PID & VID of device. Does anybody have a code snippet?

I have build using the computer Performance counter a Stop Watch class with a precision of 1 Microseconds ( 1/1000 of a milliseconds )It works good but While building this class I had a problem And found a work around to it. But I am not please with this work around.As you may know, the CLR does not create it's object at the time where you declare them, but when they are first needed. So, while building a class that a timer with such precision, the elapsed time, you will get include the time used by the CLR to build the class. This is a problem since it takes 700 to 800 microSecond to do so.I have try using a code like the one I post here, try using start/stop method, try builing the class as native code API etc. And always the same problem,I get some CLR time include in the elapsed time.The work around I finaly found is to use the fact that the CLS will recycle an object if you dispose of an object and recreate immediately after.
So, what I do, is create the timer, dummy use it, dispose of it and recreate it to actualy do work with it. Here again, I get a small CLR work time of 3 to 4 Microseconds for recycling work.I have no hope to find a better solution using a managed code class, but I am sure that there is a way to put in memory from managed code, an unmanaged class that will be ready to be use by the managed code.If you try to run it, the first time you will click the button, you will get an extra 3-4 microseconds on the result.[code]

So far, I m using LPC1768 and its ethernet module collect the data, process it and send it to the router. On the other side, i have a computer which is connected to the same router and running a VB application where the data is mined and reported in a excel.

I have two custom action listers. One that handles Mouse.Click and one that handles Mouse.MouseDown. My question to you is, can I delay the mouse down event so that it does not intefere with the code of the Mouse.Click event? I have tried adding a timer and waiting x amount then setting a bool value to true, but the code executes to fast and it skips the other code.

View 8 RepliesI am trying to get my 4 port USB relay board to work in VB.net using the COM PORT. I found some code from a poster who has the 16 port USB relay version. When trying his code i can only get it to turn on relays 1-3 all at the same time. The product can be found here: USB 4 port relay
