May 2, 2009i have three textboxes.After entering vales into the textbox the data should be displayed in gridview without going to the database.

Asp.net - Gridview Binding With Combobox's In Header
Jul 27, 2010how one might go about binding to a gridview in ASP.Net 4 in a scenario where the first row of my gridview should be the headers, the second should be a combobox for each column and the third is the beginning of my actual datasource.
If you can imagine what I am trying to achieve is an ability to create a binding between each column in the datagrid and another datasource. This binding is created by the user selecting a value in the comboboxes. However no matter what I try I cant seem to achieve this.

Oct 25, 2011I am trying to bind XML data into a gridview, after clicking the 'ButtonSaveToDataBase' button, the method will begin to read data from my gridview and load it into an array of my serializable class type and after that serialize it and finally store it into a XML type field in my SQL. The problem is When I call BindData() at the end of the serialization, it reads the XML from my database and successfully binded it but my gridview displays an empty row below my datas like this:

I am developing in ASP.NET using VB.NET as background code. I am on vs2008 with windows 7 enterprise edition.I have just restarted doing VB.Net and my first time using a gridview without a DataBase, so maybe I am missing something. Basically, I am trying to add a DataRow (dr) to a DataTable (dt) and then put said DataTable into a Gridview (grdvIntervenants).My first step is to take the gridview and put all its data into a DataTable. Then i create a DataRow(dr) that I populate with variables and I add said DataRow to the DataTable. After that, I put the DataTable as the DataSource and bind the GridView.
The problem is that my GridView shows the rows but they are empty.While debugging, I found out that this error was beside all the DataRow.Item:"In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user" Seraching for it on the net.I did not totally understand the error, so i tried many different ways of adding the data into the DataRow but to no avail. I also tried different way of adding the column thinking the index problem might be coming from there, but again, the problem persisted. Now, something I found weird was that the Item property of my DataRow gives the quoted error, but I see the values into the ItemArray of the DataRow.I also found out that the same error appears beside the columns property into the dataTable.When I try to access the data from the DataSource in my rowDatabound method using the DataBinder, it gives me null results...

ASP Gridview: Adding Two Values And Validate?
May 26, 2012I use GridView to show/edit data in the database. In the GridView there are two columns called mark1 and mark2. What I want to do is when user clicks update, the program should check if the values entered at mark1 and mark2 sum to 100. If they don't the program should cancel the update and show an error message. How do I do it? I use ASP.NET with VB.

When you see the above table/gridview, you will know what I want to validate.
I should be checking whether there is any row having start-end dates lying within the existing date range, if so I should invalidate them.
I shd have only distinct date range in my rows.
How do I do that.
May be Useful note: I will be able to check which column name I tried editing in that row.
Do any of you have some ideas how to create a logic to accomodate my validation issue in my webbased gridview control ?
Binding A Dataview From A Textbox?
Jan 16, 2012I am trying to create a basic webpage that will check a column of a database table to see if a "UPC Code" is taken already, to prevent duplicate use. I'm fairly new at .NET programming, but have built asp pages before. I'm just stumped :/
I have a textbox that a user can type in a number. The page successfully checks to see if the textbox is blank and reports the error, and if there is a value, it's supposed to bind that textbox number to a gridview to see which Item# it's associated with. But for some reason, my code is not binding the value of the textbox to the gridview.

This code runs before I call the form's ShowDialog method. I stepped through the code to make sure the datarow has data, and indeed it does.

Oct 16, 2009I am running Windows 7 and have an application that has a textbox bound to a Property in a Custom Class that Implements IEnumerable.When I call Raise Event to update the textbox it will only work the first time.However, the application works on every other OS I have tested on (XP, Vista). Also if my custom class does not implement IEnumerable it works correctly.Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrongform with a textbox and a button. The Textbox is bound to the Total Property in the class.

Auto Increment Values Always Negative In GridView
Mar 22, 2011I am trying to make a sample Master-Detail relation ship database example in vb.net. When I add MasterTable a new row via bindingnavigator and save via savebutton autoincrement field goes -1 -2... negative values hence cannot get correct ID numbes saved in table rows till I close open sample application. How can I see correct autoincrement ID numbers in gridview after savebutton ?.Just ID numbers saved to mdb.but cannot see them i gridview and displaying negative weird numbers. This problem is important because without getting ID numbers cannot bind Detail table rows to newly recorded master table rows.

Aug 25, 2009Im having some wierd behavior on a bound form in vb.net 2008. I have setup a client form, with another tab that has contacts for that client. the contacts tab has a binding navigator at the bottom, so the user can move amongst the contacts. all fields on that form are bound to a bindingsource called bsContact, using a table adapter called "ContactTableAdapter"
if i have a contact already saved, and want to modify the contact info, the form binding doesn't seem to recognize that i have changed the value of a textbox on that contact.i would think that if a textbox is bound to a bindingsource, then if the value of that textbox changes, the bindingsource would know about it, but it doesn't. The dataset.HasChanges returns false, and my save wont happen. (see code)so, when i hit the movenext on the bindingnavigator, it changes to record 2...i change a value on a textbox...i hit the save button on my form....no update will happen.
Update: I noticed that if i am on the tab with the multiple contacts, and i change a textbox on the form, then i MOVE TO ANOTHER RECORD, then the dataset recognizes that there was a change, and the update happens. Why doesn't the textbox immediately notify the dataset that a change is happening?

Feb 20, 2012I have one DataGridView named dgv.dgv is pretty much a plain gridview. No bounded data. No columns added. It's basically empty.I also have one DataTable named dt.I add rows and columns manually into dt.
dt.Columns.Add(New DataColumn("TexBox", GetType(String)))
dr = dt.NewRow()
dr("TextBox") = String.Empty
dt.Rows.Add(dr)
I then simply set dgv datasource into dt.
dgv.DataSource = dt
dgv.Refresh()
I then set the value for this particular cell.
dgv.Item(0,0).Value = "xxx"
Now when I run and execute all those commands. I happen to retrieve the gridview with that value indeed. The "xxx" cell appeared and currently it's uneditable.What I want to achieve is:Allow this "xxx" cell to be editable. Preferrably if it can be inserted into a TextBox control inside the cell.
