So I have some vb.net code, and I have a nested For loop inside a For loop, and then I have EXIT FOR statement, will it break out of one loop, or the whole chain?
View 2 RepliesI want to make a progressbar that runs when a button is clicked. However there is also a checkbox that affects the whole thing. If the checkbox is checked, the button works and starts the progress bar.If the checkbox isnt checked, an error message comes up when the button is pressed.
View 1 RepliesI want to make an button that runs an action with the frequency from an number input in Visual Basic .NET . How do I do it? Could someone point me out the syntax of such an action?and all that I want to do is use an number from "NumericUpDown" to give a button how many times the action the button has to do it.
View 2 RepliesIn my (VB.Net+VS2008)application, I want to make my windows form (splash) more responsive as there is some complex functionality is performing while loading splash form. Currently when any other application come in front of splash screen and then minimize then splash screen looses its proper visibility and showing some hang kind of state also.I used "Application.DoEvents()", but it doesn't work. I can't use "background worker" because it doesn't support UI related changes. i.e. Initializing some UI components on shown event of splash screen.

i need to break out of an inner loop and i've been advised that exit loop is not the best way to do so. So i've thought of another way to do so, i want to get the value within the if statement, but it doesnt appear to be working properly.

You see that i'm using Bavailable to try and break out of the loop to get the value pos in the instance of one of these if's conditions are returned true?
I am writing a function that should sound a beep every two seconds until the user either clicks the mouse or presses any key. The code I have written appears to work for the mouse click, but it ignores keystrokes:

How would I go about in a loop if the user hits the escape key the program ends?
View 8 RepliesI have what might just be the most retarded problem ever...the thing is, I have this loop, and it runs just fine(except for the boringness it is to run it) if I use Msgbox("whatever") after some of its lines. But it won't run otherwise...I guess it has to do with the time my local server takes to awnser, but I tried System.Threading.Thread.Sleep() up to 10000 and nothing worked...even tough it did on msgbox's which I went trough faster than those.I am building a very basic local program to test my website for vulnerabilities,a s you can probably figure by the code. Also, how can I clean Webbrowser1 cookie's?

I have the following Method:
CODE:
Everything is working fine except for one part. The part where the second foreach loop runs. If I only have one plugin installed it puts 2 entries in the list. The reason is because it has 2 rows and it is adding it twice. I know what the issue is I just am drawing a blank right now.

I am trying to write the following application. A project has initial investment, yearly revenue and yearly expenses. The program should be able to take these data and calculate the break-even year, i.e. when the cumulative profits become 0. Also, it should have a listbox that would list the cumulative profit for 10 years. Refer to the example below. Now I know how to show it in the listbox but I am having trouble showing the break-even year. I know how to calculate it but how do you show it in years.
View 8 Replies[code] The problem in my case, this is not working with this code. All I need are random numbers outside the above boundaries. Please note when I remove 'Not' in 'Loop While' statement, the programme runs indefinitely!!

View 17 RepliesWhen i push the close button on the top right of the exe i made, the process still runs. How can i make it to where when i close the exe it closes the process too? Also, (this is for shits and giggles) if i wanted to make a button that closed certain processes, what would the code be? For example, the button would close explorer.exe, googledesktop.exe, ect.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to make a timer that beeps 3-5 times and runs a progress bar. All it has to do is click start (timer set for 2 minutes starts) and as time runs out the progress bar fills. When the time is up 3-5 beeps happen. I am missing the coding for the 3-5 beeps and design parts for it and all coding for that along with code for setting the 2 minute timing. There is no label for telling the time left or to go just a progress bar. Here is my code so far.

I am constructing a program, i am new to Visual Basic, but i have past programming experience. I was wondering if anyone knew how to form a loop that could...lets say calculate the answer when two numbers are added together, and it would repeat this thousands of times, etc. And if there is a way, would it be possible to calculate the time taken to complete this loop.

I cannot make it work. I'm a beginner, and not being sure what's really relevant I'll say I'm using VS2010 Express edition, on Windows7 Pro 64 bit. It's been bugging me for days, and I even thought it was because I was using Express edition, but it wasn't. I copied their Fibonacci example, and it worked as expected. Meaning: progress bar reported progress, GUI was responsive, so Cancel button could have done its part.
But I didn't want Fibonacci calculator, because recursive calls always make me think about stack overflow. I wanted something less fancy; I wanted simply to count to 100.000 and see the counter on the GUI changing all the time.So I followed the instructions on their Fibonacci example, but I made it only count "in its mind". It updated progress bar all the time, but text box shown only the last result after finished counting. Also GUI wasn't responsive, so I couldn't click cancel button.
When you start Fibonacci example, you could move the form around. But in my case, GUI was frozen, and form was moved only at the end of counting.

-new Dell laptop without a Break key.
-VB6 and VS2008 IDEs use Ctrl+Break to pause execution for debugging.
-I need a way to map another key combination to trigger a Ctrl+Break
My setup may make this easier or harder but to be clear I am running Kubuntu 9.10 (latest stable) and WinXP in a VirtualBox VM. Obviously all VB6/VS2008 dev is taking place in the virtual machine. So maybe it's possible to have the linux host send through Ctrl+Break based on a key mapping, or maybe it's possible to remap directly in WinXP. I'd settle for any solution as atm I need to use the XP On-Screen keyboard to send a Ctrl+Break.
i have a problem.. i use this code to download:Dim dl As New System.Net.WebClient dl.DownloadFile({online_file}, {local_file})now, it does download the file. my work is done. the only downside is that, until the download is finished, the program crashes!if i download a 5kb .txt file, all is ok, you wouldnt even notice
if i try to download a 15MB .rar file though.. now the program crashes for a long time! when the file is fully downloaded it works just fine again.how can i make it so that downloading doesnt make the application non-responsive?(and if possible, how can i make it see how many kb is downloaded? like at this second its 15kb of 2048kb)
1.The savefiledialog lets you type illegal characters such as "?" inside the save box, which messes it up when you do so, making it not able to save the file or the dialog becoming un-responsive or showing no items even when your filter is set correctly.

A few years ago I have been busy creating this application but it didn't succeed, now Im coming back to it and similar problems occur. Basically I use SetPixel on a given window to draw a line, work fine, but the line goes away as the window redraws itself. The problem: I have been putting timers and threads on it to make sure the line is being drawn. Is there any way to make a loop to make a certain thing happen about 10-30 times without taking in too much memory/CPU?
