C# - Access A List (Of T) Based Object From COM Client?
Feb 22, 2011
I am writing in VS2005 what, on the face if it, should be a relatively simple DLL, which will allow me to build a list of custom objects when called from within Excel 2007. To do this I have a Column and Columns class. As implied, Columns is a list of Column objects. The relevant classes are defined as follows:
I made an object that has several properties one of which is an integer.
I put all the objects into a list, and I wish to sort that list by the integer property, with the object with the highest property at item 0, with the object with the lowest property at the highest item # ( count -1).
I made the list of that item, as in
Dim GameList as new list(of clsGame)
And I wish to do something like the following
GameList.Score.Sort()
What is the syntax to do that? I looked up the MSDN and didn't really understand what it was trying to say
I've recently been updating a lot of my code to comply with proper n-tier architecture and OO programming, following examples from a book.I'm starting to get problems now because I don't fully understand the access modifiers. If I run the following code I get an error at the line
Dim clientFamilyDataAccessLayer As New ClientFamilyDAO
in the BLL at the point it creates an instance of the DAL. The full error message is: "The type initializer for 'ClientFamilyDAO' threw an exception. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
How do I use these function to create a list of ClientFamily objects that I can then work with?On my UI layer I'm creating a list of objects; ClientFamilies
Dim listOfClientFamilies As List(Of ClientFamily) = ClientFamily.GetClientFamiliesByKRM(selectedEmployee.StaffNumber)
This is the function in the BLL
Public Shared Function GetClientFamiliesByKRM(ByVal krmStaffNumber As Integer) As List(Of ClientFamily) Dim clientFamilyDataAccessLayer As New ClientFamilyDAO Return clientFamilyDataAccessLayer.GetClientFamiliesByKRM(krmStaffNumber) End Function
and this is function in the DAL
Public Function GetClientFamiliesByKRM(ByVal staffNumber As Integer) As List(Of ClientFamily) Dim currentConnection As SqlConnection = New SqlConnection(_connectionString) Dim currentCommand As New SqlCommand
After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim DatePriceList As New List(Of DateAndPrice) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/1/2000"), 10.12)) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/2/2000"), 11.12))
Limited to using v2.0 of .Net framework (we use VB.net) due to environmental constraints on our servers.I've got an ASP.net webpage which pulls data from a webservice that performs checks on user accounts in active directory. Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. The users could be checking 2, 5, 7 accounts at once, and is dynamic.
I am working in VB.net and have a Class, Foo, that implements an interface, IBar.I have a List of Foo's, but I need to pass a list of IBar's into a function, but I keep getting casting errors, even when I use DirectCast. My code is [code]MainWorks works, but it would be really annoying and inefficient to have to do that everywhere I want to call this function.
Suppose you have list 1 (ilist1) and list 2 (ilist2) both lists have 3 items.
At index 0 item1 which has text "-- Select --" At index 1 item2 which has text "Yes" At index 2 item3 which has text "No"
Both lists have identical items. I would like to know if it is possible to have the selection of list one be "Yes" and the selection of list two be "No" and vice versa using SelectedIndexChanged or something of the sort.
For example: ilist1 = --Select-- ilist2 = --Select--
I have a picture box on a form that changes size as needed. Both by resizing the form and by code. How can I resize the form automatically if I resize the picturebox in code. The client area of the picture box should not be clipped.Right now the picture box is set to dock fill, but if the code resizes it, the form does not follow it. Is there a binding somewhere I can use?
It can fetch source properly but the problem is it fetch website source based on server from where script executed (i mean where website hosted), but i want to fetch content based on client information (ip etc)
I have a List myList of MyObjects. Is it possible to check if myList contains a particular myObject based on a property of myObject in VB.NET? In C#, you'd something similar to this right:
What would be the fastest way to sort a list that contains a list of objects, based upon another list? An example follows:Say I have multiple lists of employees. Each individual list has a common property value, say "Department". So I have a list of employees, in one list they all have the department string value of "Sales". In another list all the objects have a department value of "Finance". These lists of employees are then contained in a list which holds them all.
I have a second list, which should drives the sort order of the employee lists. The second list simply contains a list of strings like, "Finance", "Sales", "IT" and so on. I'd like my lists of customers to be sorted in the order of "Finance", "Sales", etc.I'm using VB.NET in .NET 2.0
Does link text mean I have to return a concrete implementation? Even though I am using svcutil with the /r that includes my entites(where IMyInterface is defined). I get no errors but it changes all List(of IMyInterface) to list(of Object) and I cannot deserialize it on the client
Error: list(of object) cannot be converted to list(of IMyInterface).
I am trying to switch from a SingleCall Remoting infrastructue to a client activated object infrastructure. But can't get it to work. Probbaly a setting. On the hosting server (a console application) I have:
I need to be able to add elements to a copy of mylist.testlist without modifying the global mylist object. (Which seems to be happening via the below code.)When I am working on x, which should be a totally separate object, mylist is getting modified as well. How can I fix this? I have worked with lists extensively and never seen this behavior before. I have tested and reproduced the problem in .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 on Win 7 Pro 32bit.
Source Code:
Public Class Form1 Public mylist As New test Sub Main()
I would like to create list of child objects from list of parent object. Like If i have list of bookingroom which has one member room then i would like to create list of room from it.
eg. code:
Dim BookingRoomList As List(Of BookingRoom) = New List(Of BookingRoom) Dim RoomList As List(Of Room) = New List(Of Room) BookingRoomList = BookingRooms.FillGrid()
[Code]....
Is there any short cut method instead of iterating over for earch?
I am having a problem when setting VB.NET list object to another.I create an instance on ReadLocations and than create an object of ReadLocation where then I loop through ReadLocations and set ReadLocation1 equal to rl. What happens is that if I then go and change ReadLocation1 to something else (assdfhsd) it will also change the ReadLocations index. I am really confused why it would be doing that unless it is "=" sign means referencing instead of actually setting the value. Please help as I am a C# developer but the program I am modifying is in VB.NET.[code]
I'm trying to concatenate an object that instantiates the client class (for example) with their respective property that ONLY through a variable, like this:Dim fieldx As String fieldx = "Name" Dim customer As New Customer customer.fieldx = "Joseph" customer.Name = "Joseph"
Actually I use array, but to simplify my question, I used a variable as an example. The error is that the compiler tries to find a property with the name fieldx in my class. How to tell the compiler to retrieve the value contained in the variable instead the name of it?
I am trying to send an Arraylist over to my server to broadcast to all other clients but I am not sure after serializing it, how do I proceed to send across. [code]....
I'm trying to serialize an object so that I can send it over the internet to another client. There is 1 problem however I wrote the code and it threw an exception, I searched google to see what I had done wrong.
In VB.Net is every ObjectCollection Zero based except 'Collection' object itself ???
Like if you have an ObjectCollection like attachments for a mail for example, which has .Count in it, then i have seen it is Zero based
But in case of the 'Collection' object it is 1 based. 'ie dim cc as new Collection.
I am just confirming this because you can't keep checking for each collection of objects if it is zero based or 1 based, because if you use the For...Next loop, then do we have to think always if it is
Occasionally I encountered this exception message while trying to download file from a server using System.Net.FtpWebRequest and System.Net.FtpWebResponse Object.
Download a file.ftpRequest_DL.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile get the response object Dim ftpResponse_DL As FtpWebResponse = CType(ftpRequest_DL.GetResponse, FtpWebResponse)
I was create Access database with Access 2003. I create VB project with Visual Studio 2005 Standard With connection wizzard I create coonect with this Access database, select all tablesI see this database inside Data sources and inside Server explorer Test connection is OK When I drag and drop table from Data sources, Wizzard don't create DataGridView, DataSourceBinding etc .. and I see popup window with mesage: Object reference not set to an instance of an object and then "game over"
I am able to populate an object and output everything. How do I remove say the name2 object?
la.Remove(Logins("name2")) doesn't seem to work. Private Sub btnListArray_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnListArray.Click
