I currently have a website and upon registration to the website i generate each member a unique GUID. Upon the user logging in to the website i check the credentials and store the guid in session if successful, in order to show the user there profile / how many post have been made etc i run my queries to the database passing the users session GUID to fetch data related to them.

I'm trying to get a details view in ASP.NET to display the details of the logged-in user only. I have been told to use:
select * from STAFF where USERNAME = user.identity.name
I thought this was too simple to be true and I was correct as it shows no data when I attempt to run.
I have a form for the Clients, and the user goes through and adds in all their details. But sometimes two Clients are linked together in a marriage or whatnot. I have one Clients table, and if I make two details views of it, all that happens is both views display the same Client, when they should be different. Currently, I'm adding in the second client via another form, and using textchanged events to display the data on the original form. How would I put both clients on the same form without the first clients information repeating itself? I would like to avoid using binding sources if possible.Also, I have a second question, how do I refresh the information in the details view without using binding sources? I've used queries for add/edit/delete, and I've attempted to create one to refresh, but it's not working well at all.

I got 100+ textboxes that display record values. Most of the textboxes display correct values but several textboxes doesn't. These are the same textboxes. And they only display wrong values if I edit a record for the first time. After correcting the wrong values in the textboxes the first time, they display correct values in succeeding editing of records. How can I get my controls to size correctly while still respecting the users choice for larger text (I don't want to just set the AutoScaleMode to None)? After playing with this for a long time it seems to be a problem with anchors in the child controls. See this below image, the inner black box is the control with its border turned on, the text boxes (like name) are anchored left and right and should stretch to fill the control, but don't.

I'm redesigning an old VB6 application into VB.net and there is one thing I'm not sure on the best way to do. In the VB6 application whenever we created a new instance of a component, we would pass in the user details (user name and the like) so we new who was performing the tasks. However, no that I'm redesigning I've created some nice class designs, but I'm having to add in user details into every class and it just looks wrong.
Is there a VB.net way of doing this so my classes can just have class specific details? Some way so that if my classes need to know who is performing a task, they can get the information themselves, rather than having it passed in whenever the objects are created?

I am trying to set up a new internal system for my client currently, they insisted on integrating the login with AD, which makes sense, and i have managed that with no problem. However what i also want to do, after authentication, is to store some user details / attributes as session variables. I have the following code to aithenticate the user:

I was assigned a task so as to bind the user related data into a grid view on user login. I have got two web pages, one of which contains Login and authentication information. This goes fine. View 1 RepliesI'm working in visual studio 2005 and developing a windows form that has a datagridview on it.
One of the cells is a Calendar Column type (custom made). I pulled the code for it off the internet - it basically allows the user to select the date from a small calendar.
When the date is changed, it gets the correct value and it also saves into the database with the correct value.
The problem is that it doesn't load onto the grid with the correct value. In fact, no matter what date I enter in, it always displays it as 1 day earlier. e.g. If I saved it to the database as 4/19/2012, it displays it as 4/18/2012.
I verified that there's no other column in the query that retrieves the data for the grid that contains the value it's displaying.
Ive been trying to figure out what report I should use as it appears I have crystal reports built in and also have Microsoft Report Viewer in this VB 2008.What I need to do is give the user a list of names and when a ame gets clicked it will show all the details in a report.I have loaded a ListView Control with the names from my database and this is letting the user pick a report so I can get the name and ID number of the record to show this way and just need to figure out how to get that record onto a report and what report to use?Ive done similar in VB6 but have never looked at .Net.
