I was wondering how exactly I would implement this custom error page the server asks for to give me a precise and helpful message or preferably, how I would get the error to just display on the main page?This is the error message I got below

Upon the user logging in to the website i check the credentials and store the guid in session if successful, in order to show the user there profile / how many post have been made etc i run my queries to the database passing the users session GUID to fetch data related to them.

Aug 16, 2010I'm redesigning an old VB6 application into VB.net and there is one thing I'm not sure on the best way to do. In the VB6 application whenever we created a new instance of a component, we would pass in the user details (user name and the like) so we new who was performing the tasks. However, no that I'm redesigning I've created some nice class designs, but I'm having to add in user details into every class and it just looks wrong.
Is there a VB.net way of doing this so my classes can just have class specific details? Some way so that if my classes need to know who is performing a task, they can get the information themselves, rather than having it passed in whenever the objects are created?

May 15, 2012I am trying to set up a new internal system for my client currently, they insisted on integrating the login with AD, which makes sense, and i have managed that with no problem. However what i also want to do, after authentication, is to store some user details / attributes as session variables. I have the following code to aithenticate the user:

C# - How To Do Multi User Editing
Jul 21, 2011I have a system where I would like to show a warning to a user if there try and edit a record that is currently been edited. If this is the case the user will not be able to save the record but only view it.I have an idea of using some kind of class to monitor the activity of records been edited etc but this seams a little over kill. My other concern is that what if the browser crashes or there shut their computer down on how this will effect the state of the page.
Another thought was to use last updated time stamp but this also looks a no go because the way records are been updated? how I could implement something like this. No code is necessary.based on the comments I have added these additional details.database is SQL server 2008 asp.net 3.5 one record could be many parts of the database for instance, the booking table session table and a row in the interrupter table.the user will look at a list of sessions that need booking select a booking and fill out a booking form to make the booking. Want to stop is someone else trying to do the same booking at the same time or while someone else is doing the booking.
User Editing Of Datagridview?
Feb 5, 2010I'm trying to add functionality to my DGV that enables the user to edit the cell data and then save it to the datasource but I'm not getting very far. Right now, I'm just concerned with the editing the DGV part.
What's the best way to do this taking into consideration: A column of type date in hh:mm format will not edit. At the moment this column won't display the new edit and if I attempt to enter and display a string instead of a hh:mm rime format, I get an error)I need to provide validation for the value that is entered.There are loads of events for DGV cells

Jun 28, 2010I would like to develop a structure to maintain my user's text input somehow on each form to allow user to return to the form and see the prior input for potential editing. My app has four forms which accept user input and form a string for output to printer. In the eventuality that the user notes a mistake in the input after leaving the app, I would like to develop a structure to "save" the user input at the form level and allow for repopulating the text boxes with the prior user input. Make sense? I have no idea how accomplish that functionality. Maybe it's too complex for my purposes. What do the pros think?

The idea being that I want the user to know to hit the Return key after they are finished typing in a string in the cell. Aug 25, 2011A VB.NET app is working on XP, but not in Win 7. User executes the program and it immediate dies with "Stopped Working". A Report.wer file was created and there's no detailed reason other than "System.InvalidOperationException".
How do I get it to tell me more. I put a messagebox in the form load, but it didn't get that far.

Dec 11, 2008Ive been trying to figure out what report I should use as it appears I have crystal reports built in and also have Microsoft Report Viewer in this VB 2008.What I need to do is give the user a list of names and when a ame gets clicked it will show all the details in a report.I have loaded a ListView Control with the names from my database and this is letting the user pick a report so I can get the name and ID number of the record to show this way and just need to figure out how to get that record onto a report and what report to use?Ive done similar in VB6 but have never looked at .Net. The data is comming from an access database.
