I've a problem with DataGridView component when trying to set the value of the CurrentCell. What i'm trying to do is :
I've a DataGridView With values. I want to make a button in my forms and when clicking on it I want to change the selection from the current row to the next. To explain more, by clicking my Button I want to simulate the effect of a mouse click on a DataGridview.
I have a DGV I am working on, and I have many columns.
For example I have Columns colcase(Combobox), colreportTime(Time)
the combox shows 4 cases {A,B,C,D}
what I need to do is if the user select "C"
the the colreporttime will show the time of this change unless the old value is C
how can I make program using vb 2005 that will dropdown the datagridview combobox and display to the datagridview textbox everytime the combobox selection change or when you choose the data.The mousemove is not perfect because when the dropdown combobox length more than the datagridview, the mousemove will not work even other features of datagridview.

How to programmatically change foreground color and make bold text in individual cell location on DataGridView control (Visual Basic)?
I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.
In our application, the customer can work with different client projects/datasets. If there are more than a few client projects to choose from, we display them in a listbox to start with, and then it is easy to preselect the last dataset that the customer was working with. However, if there are only a few client projects, we show them as options in a menu instead (think "recent documents"). When the application starts, I would like the menu to be opened automatically and the most recently used client project selected. Is there a way to open the main menu and a submenu of a form and select/focus (but not actually click) an item programmatically?
The old way that we were doing this in VB6 was to use SendKeys to send keystrokes to the form to open the menu and then arrow-down far enough to get to the most recent project, but that is kind of unclean. Particularly, if the user starts our application and then tabs away quickly to work in a different application, the keystrokes may end up being processed by that application instead.

View 1 Repliesok, got a question here, two really. first i'll ask the hard one, as i think i have my other one out of the way so i'll save it for later but i made a program where a user enters in dimensions in several text boxes in inches. there are radio boxes that the user decides what thickness of wood they would like to use. what i'd like to do is add metric into the program and use two combo boxes. one combo box drops down and you can select inches, centimeters, or millimeters. the other one drops down to choose the thickness of the wood.ok now here's my question. say i pick inches in the first combo box, i'd like the second one to display only the thickness of the wood in inches, no metric. if i pick centimeters, i'd like the second combo box to display the thickness of the wood in only centimeters, no millimeters or inches. and the same goes for millimeters.i also have the program on a timer that runs at 100 milliseconds so the user can quickly see the differences in dimensions they put in instead of having to hit the calculate button over and over and over (not sure if that really matters or not, had a couple issues with the boxes earlier but don't think it was timer related now)but is this possible? basically just looking for the kinds of drop boxes that you see on a page like autotrader.com where you select dodge, and then only the dodge cars are listed, select chevy and the chevy cars are listed, etc.

I have a combobox on a form with the dropdownstyle set to drop down. Users can either salect a value from the list, or type in any value they wish. This all works fine. However, when one particular item in the list is selected I wish to set a different value. Unfortunately I don't appear to be able to set the combobox Text property from within any of the events that fire when the selected item is changed.

There is a combolistbox that has a list of topics.
Depending on what topic you choose will determine what checklistbox option will appear in the check list box.
What are they doing there to create that option? I was thinking that maybe they created 20 checkedlistboxes and then if the selection of the combolistbox is "THIS" then they set the getfocus to that checkedlistbox but that didn't quite work for me.

I have two datagridview's both are databound. First one shows items for sale and the second stores all the items that were sold. I am trying too transfer selected rows from one to the other but no matter what I keep getting told "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound."
View 2 RepliesI've got 2 radio buttons on a form and am trying to allow a user to change the color of the form based on which radio button is selected. I've used select case in a separate procedure to do this because ultimately I'd like to have about 1/2 dozen or so color options to choose from.
The color changes when the first radio button is selected (pink or green, doesn't matter), but when I try and select a 2nd option, the program crashes (VB 2010 Beta).

It worked. But, when i click on the next student and go back to the previous, the picture is not there. When I stop the debugging and start again the picture is there but it stops displaying again after going back and forward.
I have a combobox linked to a table Checklist (ID, Checklistname, and several multivalued fields). I want to have my subform display data from different tables based on my combobox selection "checklistname". All the tables are imported Excel files with the same fields and field types (ie. Discrepancy, reference, reference paragraph, category). How do I get my subform to requery based on the combobox selection? Or is there another method when working with "outside tables"? Import good/bad? Make new table? I have about 20 tables, if importing but only need particular data to save/store in my main table, and I need to know which table it came from.

Is it possible to multi select cells in a DataGridView over several rows?
Example:10 columns, 2 rows
Say I click and hold in row 1, column 5. If I then go down to row 2 column 5. I want column 5 to 10 in row 1 and 1 to 5 in row 2 to be highlight.
Am using vb.net 08 and i have a datagridview with 3 columns. The first column has a button as the columntype with the name "UserName". Now, i want if the user clicks only on the UserName which is the first column, but not the entire row, it should display the value of the UserName column only. If other columns are clicked are apart from the UserName, nothing should display. So there will be a for loop that will itera te through all the rows of the datagridview.

I have been looking all over the place trying to figure out how I can programally select a certain Cell in a row. What I am attempting to do is when doing Rowvalidating, and I find that the user has not filled out a column, I do a msgbox, then want to have the cell have the focus, so user can enter in the data. IE, like the way you can cause a text box to have the focus.
