I programmatically edit my datagridview cell values. I use the vertical scrollbar to find the row I want to edit, select the row then click an edit button that takes me to another form where changes to the record are made. I then click a button which saves the changes and returns me to the datagridview form. No problems here.
When I return to the grid, the records are displayed with the first record at the top of the grid. That is, the vertical scroll bar has repositioned itself to the very top.
Is it possible for the datagridview to "remember" the position of the vertical scroll bar so that when I am returned to the grid, the rows displayed are the same as when I left?

How to programmatically change foreground color and make bold text in individual cell location on DataGridView control (Visual Basic)?
I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.

I am using Visual Basic 10/I have 2 datagridview tables. The main datagridview can be edited by the user; adding/removing rows, changing data in text/combo columns, sort, etc. 2 columns from the second datagridview are a carbon copy of 2 columns from the main datagridview. I have achieved this by binding both datagridviews to a dataset. So that when I edit the main datagridview the effects are automatically replicated in the second datagridview.
Before I bound the datagridviews to the dataset I had a fully functional system to save the content of the datagridview to a text file and read it back in. This has now stopped working with the error message 'Can't edit a bound datagridview programmatically'.

I bound datagridview to bindingsource. The bindingsource has its datasource a collection Called Rates which is a collection of Rate items. The rate object has a property called VALUE. I need the user to be able to edit different values for the collection; However, on the datagridview, i need to keep displaying on one column called OldValue the existing Rate value before the change while allowing the user to edit that value in a second column called NewValue.
In other terms, One colum OldValue will keep the existing values from the DB before being edited by the user, this column OldValue is readonly. Another column NewValue will display, the 1st time, the old value from the DB (similar to OldValue when we do the Fetch from the DB), but it`s editable column, so the user can modify each value in the column NewValue without overriding OldValue cells. For now, I bound both columns OldValue and NewValue to the same property VALUE of the Rate object,

I'm running into some strange exceptions coming from a few workstations that are running one of our Windows Forms Applications. The application is written for .NET Framework 2.0 and coded in VB.NET. We've re-imaged the machines a couple of time but not matter what we do, the same problem occurs. We are not seeing this problem with any other machines besides these two. Below is the exception message and the Stack Trace. Can anyone provide any insight as to why this may be happening?

I have a DataGridView bound to a data table. I have one column where I permit updates. After I fill the table (at form load), I make an update to this column Then I attempt to update the change back to the bound table. I get the error 'Update requires a valid Updatecommand when passed dataRow collection with modified rows'. I have seen some examples on-line to define, load, and update but since I have the generated datagridview with bindings, shouldn't the update method me a simple 1-liner? [Code]

I have made a little bit of code which forces a naturally diverging iteration loop to converge to the value I need, excellent, but it currently is controlled by a button which I click to execute it. What I want to do is to automatically run the module when one of the input parameters changes, to find the new equilibrium value. Forgive me if this is really simple stuff, but I just can't figure out how to do it.

I am trying to retrieve cell values from a datagridview.I am trying to use the DataGridView.Item().Value property to pull each cell value into a temp variable to it can be added up, but for some reason it is not accepting any variables that I use to count the rows, only integer values.Here is an example of the code I am using.
Dim tempVariable as Decimal
Dim i as Integer
Dim Total as Decimal

For some reason it does not like the variable i, and only wants integer values.

How do you change the column type in a datagridview programmatically? I have several tables that I want to allow the user to update using the same form. Depending on the table, I need to change the column type to a checkbox instead of text. Following is the code that I run (just exchanging the table name and column #). Everything works well as long as I don't try to change the column type.
Dim qry = From lst In dbCodes.Codes_InjuryBodyParts _
Select lst Order By lst.CodeDisplay
Me.bsCodes.DataSource = qry

I have a project due tonight and suddenly 2 of my datagridviews are acting funky while the others are fine.
I have 2 tables in an sqlce db. the first is books(id, title, copyright) and the next is publisher(id, name, bookid). I'm writing a vb.net frontend to access the data.
I have data bound datagridviews for both tables. Both have their respective ID columns hidden. The publisher dgv uses a combobox cell style to display the book title in the bookid column. So far so good.
I have suddenly run into a problem where if I have clicked in a cell on the books dgv and then click a cell on another row, the title changes to the id value. The publisher dgv also updates to show the id instead of the title.
It sounds to me like there may be a problem with the booktableadapter or bookbindingsource, but I don't know where to start looking for it. I have a 3rd dgv referencing an unrelated table, and it has no problems. The code for both the working and problematic dgvs are the same (only the control names are different).

I have a bunch of columns in a datagrid view (date, transaction type, amount).If the amount in a row is '150.00', I want to make that cell red.I made a Private Sub and run this after the datagridview is filled.
Private Sub ColorCells()
Dim ColumnCount As Integer
ColumnCount = dgvLedger.ColumnCount - 1[code].....
However it seems to have two bugs. When it is first run the first time when the form is loaded, it doesn't put the rows with 150.00 in it in red.If I have a button on the form and set it to run this Private Sub, then it runs through it again and will color the ones in 150 as red.If I resort the datagridview by clicking on a column, they all return to green again, and it looses the formatting.

Can anyone tell me why "Rows cannot be programmatically added to the DataGridView's rows collection when the control is data-bound." I keep getting an error "Invalid Operation Exception was Unhandled" error. All I am attempting to do is allow the user to select products from a list(or a second datagridview) and have it added to the datagridview so they do not have to type in every cell since the other cells are not visible because they do not purtain to their needs. Plus they will be able to save all items at the same time.
