This is bugging me. I have a "main" form named frmMain with a DataGridView object named objDataGrid.When a user double clicks on a row or clicks another button, I hide the main form, open a new form and want to reference the values in the row selected by the user but I keep getting an error when I try to access some, but not all, of the datagridview's properties.

i am having problem in my buy button. how can i manipulate the value in the remaining box(es). for example, i select the item named amoxicillin, and i entered 5 on my textbox. when i press the buy button the value in remaining box(es) will be 45.
I am trying to retrieve cell values from a datagridview.I am trying to use the DataGridView.Item().Value property to pull each cell value into a temp variable to it can be added up, but for some reason it is not accepting any variables that I use to count the rows, only integer values.Here is an example of the code I am using.

I have a project due tonight and suddenly 2 of my datagridviews are acting funky while the others are fine.
I have 2 tables in an sqlce db. the first is books(id, title, copyright) and the next is publisher(id, name, bookid). I'm writing a vb.net frontend to access the data.
I have data bound datagridviews for both tables. Both have their respective ID columns hidden. The publisher dgv uses a combobox cell style to display the book title in the bookid column. So far so good.
I have suddenly run into a problem where if I have clicked in a cell on the books dgv and then click a cell on another row, the title changes to the id value. The publisher dgv also updates to show the id instead of the title.
It sounds to me like there may be a problem with the booktableadapter or bookbindingsource, but I don't know where to start looking for it. I have a 3rd dgv referencing an unrelated table, and it has no problems. The code for both the working and problematic dgvs are the same (only the control names are different).
I have an excel file SpeedStudy.xls located in (C:/files). I need to extract specific cell values to be displayed in a DataGridView.
For example:
I need the value of Cell: B6 to be displayed in the DataGridView under the Road column. How can I retrieve cell values?
I programmatically edit my datagridview cell values. I use the vertical scrollbar to find the row I want to edit, select the row then click an edit button that takes me to another form where changes to the record are made. I then click a button which saves the changes and returns me to the datagridview form. No problems here.
When I return to the grid, the records are displayed with the first record at the top of the grid. That is, the vertical scroll bar has repositioned itself to the very top.
Is it possible for the datagridview to "remember" the position of the vertical scroll bar so that when I am returned to the grid, the rows displayed are the same as when I left?
I want to make a certain column of my datagridview red based on values from 2 other columns. I have a "HI" column, a "LOW" column and a "Result" Column which are all strings. Now I want to make the result column red if it's values is less than the "LOW" columns value or if it's value is greater than the "HI" columns value. I tried the following code but something is wrong because cells that shouldn't be red are red:

Im working with a DataGridView with an imported CSV file where the values are delimited with (,).. The grid works perfectly fine. My ultimate goal is to hide the grid out of view from the user and access the data in the grid based on the coordinates of the grid specified i.e (The cell in column 5, row 6 contains the value "Taco") and I want to save that value to a variable...Eventually I want to loop through all the values of a column and save them to individual variables to be later used. I have most of the website created, I'm just working on the shopping cart element of it now.When the user goes to check out, I have a Gridview displaying the items the user wishes to buy as follows, it contains 3 columns, REF NBR, Product Name and Quantity, when the user clicks on the 'BUY NOW' button I want to take all the reference numbers from the Gridview and search teh database and deduct the Quantity from the number of items in stock.

View 12 RepliesI have a main form with a DataGridView populated from an Access Table.So far so good.When the user clicks on a row a small form pops up and the the user can enter/edit for 2 specific fields .After that hitting the save button an update query ensures that the data are written back.Because the base table is big i don't want to refresh the dataset (at least i don't want to have the user wait for a good amount of time for a simple change.......this is acceptable only when the application is starting) and i thought given the fact that the changed data are just a few words to "edit" the datagridview cell i want so that it displays the changes.BUT i can't do that.As soon as the 2nd form where the user enters the details the DGV from the main form is unaccessible.When i try to get access to it i have a nice message "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference."I tried to make a object reference but nothing ...

I want to run a macro that searches through the cells and tests to see if they have a substring sitting at the end of the value that is in the format "-Q[number]-[number][number]" OR "-[3 LETTER MONTH ABBREVIATION][number]-[number][number]" OR "-[3 LETTER MONTH ABBREVIATION][number][number]-[number][number]"and then if the test is true, the cell color is changed to RED.So if I ran the macro on the example I gave above, it would turn the cells with the following values red:

Now here is my problem! I want to have a form with a datagridview that displays all of the values I am querying. This shouldn't be a problem I guess. However, I have no idea how I can integrate two textboxes that can be used to enter the selection criteria (WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253') AND (l.sped_journal = '11-08')[/SIZE]. I have googled and read many threads so far but didn't stumble upon anything that would suit my needs and answer my question. Maybe it's just too elementary!? By the way, it is very important that the input of textbox1 ((WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253')) is linked to 3 positions in my SQL query to define the search criteria!
The worst thing is that I don't want to have a bindingnav displayed! I do not need any delete, update or add functions just the select option, however!
I have a form with multiple datagridviews. On save the entire dataset will be serialized to a strongly typed property bound to a sql varbinary(max) Works fine. Of course the current "dirty" cell will not be saved as mentioned here :

My problem is the user could be coming from any one of 20 datagridviews when they click SAVE. Is there any way, short of checking for a dirty cell in each datagridview to commit any dirty cell before the save ( clicking another textbox control before the save does the trick but calling the focus() of that textbox prior to the save does not ) I was thinking perhaps catching the event of leaving the grid but it seems the base problem is clicking a button (for reasons I think I understand) does not fire lostfocus events for the current control and it doesn't seem the click handler args knows what the last current selected control is.
Have this code so that when a checkbox in a column of my datagridview is checked, then the corresponding cell in column 2 (of the same row the check box is in) will turn blue with font color white.

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

To load the information into those DGVs, I am pulling the information from an encrypted file, decrypting it, parsing the information, then trying to fill the DGVs with that information. I have a MainForm which contain SecondaryForm as a control of the MainForm.SecondaryForm contains DataGridView which loads data from sql server and I add a collumn named SUM that SUMs all the values of the same row. This is provided within the LOAD event of the SecondaryForm.When SecondaryForm.Load events finishes, the program goes back to MainForm right after the line "SecondaryForm.Show" and here the values of the column SUM disappear.When i write those values runtime, they never disappear.

The message going into lbl2 shows the co-ordinate values of any box I click in but as you can see with the IF statement below I am trying to see if the system can detect whenever I click in a value that is empty (null or ''). When I run my form and populate the list with a column of names I can click in 0, 0 cell and I get a message saying the 'Box is not empty' as above.
But when I click in any of the next boxes e.g. (1,0) (2,0) etc I get this:

Not sure what this means at all. I am under the impression that my piece of code is gathering the value of the item depending on the co-ordinate values. so why should this fail? What index/collection is VB talking about?

So here's what Im trying to do: I have two tables, a main table, and an employee table, with a foreign key in the main table pointing to the employee number in the employee table. Im trying to use a databound datagrid to show everything from the main table, and the corresponding name of the employee number referenced in the main table. Is there a way I can do that using DataSet.Table.Column.Expression, or what would be a simple way of doing this? I cant use TableAdapter b/c sometimes the database is offline, so preferably with datasets.
