I am trying to extract some data from a website using a LINQ statement, the XML is in the following form.
<parent>
<p>
<b>
Title
</b>
[code]....
I would like to get the As Of Date and Data (the data row is iterated several times). Also the table and as of date appear several times in the document (the table is active from a date).I can get the rows using the following LINQ but how do I get the As Of Date
Dim l_PricesTable = From rows In l_Xml.Descendants("tr") _
Where ((rows.Descendants("td") IsNot Nothing) AndAlso (rows.Descendants("td").Count >= 1)) _
Select Data = rows.Descendants("td")(0).Value,
AsOfDate = ???
I have no way of changing the XML as it is a 3rd party source. There is no XML element which contains just the as of date and also the table, they are all under the one parent node.
I have address data that is surrounded by random text. Is there a way to extract this data either with a call to a web service or some vb.net function?
example: 1111 S WILSON ROAD APT B8 CITY STATE 55555 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
i have been searching the web for days and yet to find a clue on how to extract specific data from a flat file, i know how to extract all the data from flat file but not "specific data".
my problem now is that i need to extract a certain data out from a very very messy log file, what i need is to extract the decimal data right after "score=". it is in this format "score=1.938249".
for the decimal data right after "score", it is very random, there is no fix length to this. and also "score" does not fix in a specific position, it could be starting of the string or ending of the string of messy data.
just a peak on my messy data, "time 20:34 17/1/2010 vlog=0 C:d7ad45f396850c532ef0ccf0da48d80di386peisgh437 ipint=98.1857991 score=1.78495 event@&1.13845" "time 20:34 17/1/2010 vlog=1 C:Documents and SettingsDefault UserDesktop score=4.085651123 ipint=70.1578356 event@&0"
I've been looking over a bunch of code snippets and I'm just not understanding what is going on there.anding the connection, reading/manipulation, and closing pI keep reading all about these DataAdapters, Ole and Sql and Sqlce and I don't know which to use or whatever.I made a database in VB.NET 2010 that came out as database.sdf and I selected the Local Database option (I assume this is relevant?). I then populated the database with a row of data with column titles and a primary key. The table contains many different columns, but for test purposes, the following is relevant:
DB Name: db_test Table Name: Locations Primary Key Column Header: CITY
I need to extract data from MS project 2003 .mpp file in dot net and dump in SQL Server.What is the best solution for this?1) I tried using OLE DB and fill dataset however it throws exception.
OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection(@"Provider=Microsoft.Project.OLEDB.11.0;Initial Catalog=D:TestProject.mpp;");
So, I wrote a loader that extracts an executable that I have stored as an embedded resource. It writes it to %TEMP%my.exe.I made my.exe extract some files on launch. Thats why I made it in the temp. But the problem is, when I do Shell(my.exe) to the temp dir in the loader, it runs ok. But the files execute to where my loader is. :S
I was expecting the files to be extracted WITH the my.exe in temp. So if ran on my Desktop, i'd get all these files, as with putting it in temp, it'd work a lot better.Any idea how to get my.exe to launch and not put files from my.exe to extract to the loader's launch dir?
how do you extract multiple decimals with different number of decimal places from a string? I'm looking to find a generic way to extract 3 numbers out the following strings.
Scenario:I am attempting to perform some work on files (rename/delete) in folder, usually in a network location. Because the location of products folder is not critical, it's rarely ever in the same place on different networks. A simple shortcut on the client machine is all that's required from the client perspective and the rest of the product is self contained on the server somewhere. To run the 'fix' my small application will perform quickly and easily, I need to parse the path held in the target box of the .lnk. Then perform ifexists for a specific file and then do my renaming/deleting.
To keep it as simple as possible, the end user should just 'drop' the shortcut onto my form then click 'fix'.The problem: How in the heavens can I retrieve the target location from the .lnk into a string without windows scripting host?
Still getting to grips with regex and have seen a few samples about that give me most of what I need so asking for opinion on this. I need to extract x words from a single line, so the regex could use w+ to get characters, however my line may contain anything inside the word like:
How can I convert an object of type System.Data.Linq.DataQuery to System.Linq.IQueryable?I'm working with Visual Basic/Silverlight, and the source code of my query is as follows:
Public Function Get_Cli_Pag() As IQueryable(Of V_Cliente_Pagare) Dim Qry = From P In Me.Context.Pagares Join C In Me.Context.Codigos On C.Codigo
I have three tables in SQL server which I would like to show and access on a form. Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
I got a weird problem here like I got a site that users can post comments on a friend profile page.Everytime a user post a comment my application sends e-mail to that page owner, you know to inform for a new posted comment on his/her profile page.The problem is I want to stop the application from sending email if that user has just recently posted a comment say like 5 hours ago/earlier.Here is the function I use that would try to check it:
I have the following line of Dim clients = From client In db.clients Select client Where client.ClientID = id
In debugging, the clients object populates perfectly, but how can get get data from the clients object? Like if the clients object has a FirstName property, how can I set a textboxes text property to that property from the clients object?
I thought it'd be something like:
tbClientFirstName.Text = clients.FirstName But that doesn't work.
I need to update a datatable using LINQToSql. Option Strict is ON. Datatable name is Customer with fields customerID, customerName, SalesID. I need to update rows with SalesID = -1.
I have the following VB.NET code that I am using to sort a Data.DataTable by column count.
For Each dtTarget As Data.DataTable In _ From x In Target.Tables _ Where DirectCast(x, Data.DataTable).Rows.Count > 0 _ Order By DirectCast(x, Data.DataTable).Columns.Count ... Next
Is there a way to indicate that x is a Data.DataTable without having to DirectCast it each time it is referenced (twice in this case) in the LINQ query?
I have 2 tables that are related. Each app can relate to many apps. ie, office can be related to word, excel.[code]I would like to do the following query. I use vb.net but c# is ok.Query is to return all the apps that are not related to (1), so the result should be (4, quake) .
I am trying to setup a lookup combo box in my web page. I was using a linq data source but I then moved my linqtosql code to it's own class library for my DAL dll (took out of app_code folder). So, I am converting the page code to be able to still have lookups driven now by a biz object.Here's what I have done in my biz layer...
Public Class KosherTypes Public Shared Function GetKosherTypes() As List(Of KosherTypeLookup) Dim db As New DBDataContext
[code]....
I then setup an object data source and mapped it to this class.I have a few questions as when I was doing internet searches I didn't find anyone that seemed to be doing this and yet I know lookup tables / combo boxes are common...I went with returning a list but I could have returned an IEnumerable or IQueryable. In my reading it seemed IQueryable had more functionality for linq to sql but since I am returning a simple two column list then I only need to return an IEnumerable or List. I went with a List since it's strongly typed.
I am writing code that pulls data from database tables and writes them to an XML file (to be picked up by another process). There are bout 60,000 records, and each record can have multiple entites, i.e. a member can have several contacts, each contact can have several phone numbers, etc. The entire process takes several hours, and I've narrowed down the slowness to the actual pull of the data (not writing the XML, or any data processing after it's pulled, etc.). I've tried the code two different ways, with similar results. First I leveraged LINQ queries and created all the elements in one statement:[code]That produced almost no change in amount of time the process took. I then tried stripping out all the elements and reduced the code down to just the database pulls, and it was similarly slow.Is there a faster/better way to pull all this normalized data from the database so I can get it to the XML file as quickly as possible?
i want to use linq to fetch data from datatable.I have 2 tables in Cache and i want to join these tables then get value from resultset.I pasted Original Sql query and my linq query here.My linq query returns nothing.Where do i miss?My original sql query returns 1 row,but q1 is nothing
Im using linq and im able get get data ouf of it realy easy. but i seem to not be able to update the data. the program does not error on it and it looks likes it has updated but it does not save te changes.
Public Function UpdateAlarmsbyKey(ByVal objKey As Integer, ByVal IdNumber As String) As Boolean
I'm using a LinqDataSource to populate a basic GridView in ASP.NET. The user has the ability to filter the results, so I use a few WhereParameters and the Where within the LinqDataSource.My client has requested an option to export the filtered results to a file. Easy enough to pipe the data into a file, but I would prefer not to rewrite all the where clauses in the codebehind. I would simply like to extract the full set of results, preferably by using the already configure LinqDataSource.When using LinqDataSource's OnSelect method, the e.Result has the data I'm after, but my GridView PageSize is set to 20, which means that the LinqDataSource (rightly so) only fetches the first 20 records.Is there anyway to get hold of the entire data set?
I'm working on a form that has a few data grid views that are populated from LINQ queries, no problem there it works as it should however that sorting does not work. After doing some reading its because LINQ results do not support sorting.As I have the LINQ results already is there a way of copying the results into a dataset or datatable then binding the data grid view to that so sorting will work?
I am having some problem in binding my linq with my data grid view..The code for binding is as follows:
objdt = objdalProduct.SelectProduct() It brings all the data from the database Dim Query = From Product In objdt.AsEnumerable _ Where Product.Field(Of String)("ProductName") = cbProductName.Text _ Select New With _
