Does anyone know how to get my class name and method name dropdown lists again? It's the dropdown lists that are usually above the code. It's just a setting but i can't seem to find it. I don't want to reset my setting btw. I shouldn't have to.

I've recently started using C# after years of using VB.NETWhen using Visual Studio, using VB.NET, on the code behind files (.aspx.vb) i could select from a list of controls in my markup file (.aspx) and then select an event to automatically put into my code behind.

View 6 RepliesIn Visual Studio 2005, I can't seem to get the Intellisense menu to pop up at all when I click CTRL+Space. This seems to be limited to VB.NET files. I have tried creating new Visual C# and C# web projects, and it works fine there. There also doesn't seem to be a problem in things like CSS files in VB.NET projects. But when I create a new VB.NET web site, CTRL+Space does nothing. I have tried resetting all the Import and Export setting. That didn't work either.

View 1 RepliesI'm running Visual Studio 2010 on a terminal server, and have been, with relatively few problems, for some time. This morning I fired up my PC and over the UK's long weekend, the following issue seems to have developed.I've got a bunch of projects (but not all of my projects, and not all of the projects in a given solution) complaining that a particular file (which does not exist on the computer) cannot be opened, and so those projects will not compile anymore. Here's the error:
Error 31 Unable to open module file'C:Users[username]AppDataLocalTemp2.NETFramework,Version=v4.0.AssemblyAttributes.vb':
System Error &H80070003&
I could simply copy the file into that directory and be done with it, I'm pretty sure that will work,EDIT: Okay, now things have gotten to a whole new level of weird. I've rebooted the server, I get the same error message, only now the file it is asking for exists and can be opened in Visual Studio with no problems. another part of the IDE still insists that it's unable to open the module file.
EDIT 2: Can't delete the file because it claims to be open in another program, but I've logged off and logged on again, and there shouldn't be anything accessing it.
EDIT 3: Because there's a wall of comments below his answer, I'll mention here that Jared's suggestion to delete the SUO file for the solutions having the problem (not files specifically to do with any of the problem projects, strangely) was what solved this, eventually.
Whenever I name a new project, a file download window comes up. I tried to reset visual studio to default setting and even uninstalled firefox. I'm trying to get visual studio to behave like it use to. url....

Whenever I create a table adpater the wizard does not create and update command. It creates Select Insert and Delete but no Update command. I have a primary key in the data and have completely deleted my dataset and created connection and table adtaer from scratch with still no update command wizard says it will create it but does not.

It is really too bad that Microsoft (who once had the best documentation in the business) has slipped so badly. Good documentation does not really require analysis, though, admittedly, it is a lot of work. To wit: for each and every single method, function, event and operator provide the following: a brief topical functional description including any parameters, a detailed description of how the object works, a workable example of the code needed to make this object do something useful and links to all possible associated objects (See Also).
I see pages upon pages of useless text and links to other pages full of links. This rapidly descends into a crevace of unbelievable complexity for the developer trying to find out something truly simple like filtering a DataGridView without changing the data connection. (As it turns out this is very simple to do but I could not find a single example of how to do it in the Visual Studio documentation.)

EDIT:I just realized that Array in info needs to be a Dictionary for an associative array, so please ignore that error and just assume it is a Dictionary for this question's sake.
In Visual Studio 2010 express (using vb.net) I've somehow set two forms to use the same class.
Basicly I have two designer files with 1 implementation each. For some reason both designer files are calling the same implementation file, and I can't find any settings to correct the problem.
I have a form which contains a list box. This list box gets its information from a access database. Basically it is showing a list of missing items. I want to be able to print the list of items which is in the list box. I found code on here, There are 12 items on the list, when I hit the print button, i get a list of 12 "System.Data.DataRowView" instead of the name of the object on the list. Here is the code I am using.

I have a large solution which contains a mixture of C# and VB.Net projects.If I get compilation errors because a project which several other projects depend upon fails to build, it is very hard to see the actual error(s) because of the number of VB errors in the error list window in Visual Studio. C# errors found in the projects I compiled show in the error list, but all VB errors appear (including in those projects I have not just compiled).Is there any way of turning off this behaviour so that VB errors only appear for projects that I have explicitly compiled?
View 1 RepliesI have created a user control which is inside a folder called Controls and the class is a partial class which inherits from Web.UI.UserControl. Now from my page which is one level up I just try to access the method inside the usercontrol and so trying to cast it as the type of user control.
But I get build errors. It just cannot recognize that class. I get Type not defined error. But at times it has recognized the class. Dont know why it does that.
I have a visual studio solution written using VB.net. The solution contains 4 projects.

In C# code, we can just right click on the class name and then select refactor and then extract the interface for that class. I wonder if this could be done on VB. Im using the same IDE VS 2008
View 1 RepliesI have a solution made up of several projects. Everything is properly referenced, the solution builds and runs. Now, when "view class diagram" for this class, it doesn't show any fields. It shows "dmxProgram" as a property, but it doesn't show any of the non-property private fields. Therefore I can't add associations to my class diagram for those fields that do not appear.
