Asp.net - Visual Studio Does Not Recognize Dynamic User Control Class?
Jul 15, 2010
I have created a user control which is inside a folder called Controls and the class is a partial class which inherits from Web.UI.UserControl. Now from my page which is one level up I just try to access the method inside the usercontrol and so trying to cast it as the type of user control.
But I get build errors. It just cannot recognize that class. I get Type not defined error. But at times it has recognized the class. Dont know why it does that.
I would use the System.Linq.Dynamic. I added the specified Dynamic.vb file, that starts like this:
[Code]...
to my (VB.NET)solution. Now Visual Studio does not recognize anymore in the project files the System.XXX references, proposing me to change them to Global.System.XXX
I have a Windows project in Visual Studio 2010 in which I store all images in the project's resource file that Visual Studio created for me. However, it's getting cluttered and I'd like to separate images into multiple resource files if possible. I created a new resource file, but Visual Studio doesn't recognize it when I go to the form designer and try to change an image. The only file that comes up under the Project resource files available are MyProjectResources.resx. The one that I just created isn't there.
I am trying to implement a Web User Control into one of my APSX pages but keep getting the following warning:
Element 'IntFilter' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing.
The user control is defined in the same web project as the aspx page.
Question: How do I resolve this warning (I do not want to move the control to a separate project)? Also, what do I need to do to enable IntelliSense for this control so I can set its FilterTypeSelection property from ASPX?
Code for "~/FilterControls/IntFilter.ascx" <%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="IntFilter.ascx.vb" Inherits="StaffSupport.Filters.IntegerFilter" %>
[Code]....
Also of note, if you drag the control from the Solution Explorer to the page in Design view it will add the references you need (though it was still generating the warning for me). If you drag it to the page in source view it will add an a tag with a href to the element.
I am creating an attendance system where i want that for a particular id given by user, attendance of that id get saved in the MS access sheet. What i am wanting is that column name should be i date format pre created by me nad as user enters the id the program retrieves date from system and based on that date (taking it to be dynamic column name) writes an p on them. I am using SQL query to update i.e using update statement now i am unable to find correct syntax for using dynamic column name.
i want to be able to retrieve dynamic data from a web page (share prices). I started out by retrieving the html code before i realised that as it is live data, the html code will be of little use. Although i am looking to capture specific data, all i wish to do is process a webpage that i specify which will return the text off that website and not the HTML code.
Now to working with Visual Studio Solutions, but I am trying something very basic but no joy. So in my project I have a folder App_Code and in this I added a class called Test.vb and added a simple function
[Code]...
But in my Default.aspx page I am struggling to find the correct syntax to call this method. Also it doesnt seem like my Test2.vb class is correctly included in the project because If I make a type the project still builds successfully when it shouldnt
I'm not sure of the syntax necessary to access a class's attributes inside of a Dictionary declaration.
[Code]...
So if I want to test it and use MsgBox() how do I trickle down to pull, say, name in food > cheese1 > info > attributes2 > name?
EDIT:I just realized that Array in info needs to be a Dictionary for an associative array, so please ignore that error and just assume it is a Dictionary for this question's sake.
In Visual Studio 2010 express (using vb.net) I've somehow set two forms to use the same class.
Basicly I have two designer files with 1 implementation each. For some reason both designer files are calling the same implementation file, and I can't find any settings to correct the problem.
I have multiple user controls (the same one dynamically added to a form 4 times), and one class. I would like all of the user controls raise events in that one class. For example, if any of the user controls are clicked, I want it to send a string to the class to be processed and show a MsgBox "Control name was clicked"I am doing this as an exercise to reduce repeating the same code over and over directly in the control, and to avoid creating the class over and over to accompany each user control.
VS 2008 crashed for about the 3rd time today. I had added several task list shortcuts and User tasks to my task list and they all disappeared. Where did they go? Doesn't VS save this stuff somewhere? If you close VS do you lose all your tasks that aren't in TODO comments?
In C# code, we can just right click on the class name and then select refactor and then extract the interface for that class. I wonder if this could be done on VB. Im using the same IDE VS 2008
I have a solution made up of several projects. Everything is properly referenced, the solution builds and runs. Now, when "view class diagram" for this class, it doesn't show any fields. It shows "dmxProgram" as a property, but it doesn't show any of the non-property private fields. Therefore I can't add associations to my class diagram for those fields that do not appear.
I'm creating a log in script using VB Application. I would like to display the user's name in a label. Been searching endlessly but haven't come up with a workable solution. This is as close as I have gotten:
Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'Display user's name
Does anyone know how to get my class name and method name dropdown lists again? It's the dropdown lists that are usually above the code. It's just a setting but i can't seem to find it. I don't want to reset my setting btw. I shouldn't have to.
I am writing my first class-library in VB.NET. My idea is to distribute this library so others may use it in their applications. However, perhaps due to my lack of experience in writing and structuring the library and the classes therein, I noted that the methods/properties are ALL being shown in the IntelliSense of Visual Studio.
The thing is that many of them are only used within the library itself and should NOT be used by the developers (could create a disaster) when they incorporate my library in their application - only a few should be visibile i.e. the ones which are needed by the developer. Thus, my question is: is there a way to hide certain methods/properties of my library from Visual Studio's IntelliSense? Maybe something similar to REM?
EDIT: as mentioned - this is my first library and I now understand that my question could be intepreted in two ways:
1) how to hide something from IntelliSense
2) how to prevent a developer from using and calling certain methods/properties
Of course, the end-result that I want is that the developer is not able to access AT ALL certain methods/properties i.e. No. 2 above.
I want to add ImageListView Control which I found from here and here in myVB.net application. I tried adding the dll file to my project references (and rebuild-ed the project) but it is not showing up in my toolbox.
I had an Excel spreadsheet which I put in MS Access (database). I then took that database and used that as a source in VB to create a GUI for. In VB I have an input text box to search and pull of different fields. I created some queries for searches in from the text box. I have have a dataset view of the data which has the binding navigator (add, insert, save).
The problem I have is that when I hit the '+' for add to add information and then click the 'save' button in the binding Navigator, the information I put in does not save. I check this by exit out of the program run (debug to open the app) and then open it back up to search and/or check for the new information I put in. My overall goal is to create to publish the final code and use an a standalone program.
Also, as another option,(I would like to learn) Is there a way to map VB directly to an Excel file to have the user input information and save to the excel file.
I am using VB 2008 Express edition.I have created a user control that has an enumerated property like:Public
[Code]...
There are 3 alternatives for this property: Member0, Member1 and Member2.Is it possible to change the alternative values of this property in runtime dynamically?
WebMatrix is a web development and deployment tool by Microsoft so how is this compared to Visual Studio? which Use C# Razor Syntax is that more better coding.
My VB project is large enough that it requires several files. It was originally developed as a Console App and I created each file as a MODULE. All modules could use subroutines, data structures and constants from other MODULES and everything worked fine. I needed to add basic windowing to the app and this required that the app be converted from a Console App to a Windows Forms App. The main window is Form1 which is not a MODULE but a CLASS. The problem is that some MODULE based functions cannot access subroutines, data and constants that are defined within the CLASS Form1 unless they are incorporated into the CLASS file and this makes the CLASS file very large. If I add a new Class file to the project, it also cannot interoperate with Class Form1 in the same way that multi-MODULE code interoperates.
How does one spread CLASS code across several files and still allow it to interoperate as if it were in a single file? Alternatively, how does one create several CLASS files that operate the way multiple MODULE files operate.I am sure that there are all kinds of best practices that I am violating but the goal to to get some prototype software working and interfaced to some lab equipment.
I have a problem that is stopping me from creating my interface properly in Visual Studio. I have a listbox and beside that I have a button. I want the button to be on the right side of the control, level with the top of the listbox, but it is remaining at the bottom of the listbox.
I am currently translating a windows form application, written in VB6, to a webpage written in Visual Studio 2010. In VB6 it is easy to find out which control has focus on the form using '.getFocus()'. I have come to the conclusion it is not that easy, if at all possible, in vb2008.
