Asp.net - Visual Studio Does Not Recognize Dynamic User Control Class?
Jul 15, 2010I have created a user control which is inside a folder called Controls and the class is a partial class which inherits from Web.UI.UserControl. Now from my page which is one level up I just try to access the method inside the usercontrol and so trying to cast it as the type of user control.
But I get build errors. It just cannot recognize that class. I get Type not defined error. But at times it has recognized the class. Dont know why it does that.

Feb 1, 2012I have a requirement for a new application development where I must present some information to the user for selection via drag and drop. VB offers the TreeView control which would work nice, however the user does not like the Treeview control's presentation. The user wants a control that work similar to the Mac's Finder control while in column view.
Apple's Mac Finder Control works similar to window's treeview. Finder has a nifty view capability that my users would like in some new development that is being done. The finder supports a "column" view. Similar to the treeview, it starts out in a root list. The difference being, when a user makes a selection and clicks on a node, the node doesn't expand, the sub nodes appear on the pane to the right of the list. Clicking on a sub node, will cause the pane to split again and the items within that sub node appear
to the right again.
This will happen again and again with the left pane getting narrower as the user drives deeper into the sub nodes. That is what I am trying to replicate. Obviously, once the user reaches the base list of items, we have to support drag and drop capability. Does anyone know of a control for VB.NET that work similar to the Mac's Finder control?

Apr 11, 2009how can i call a VB function - deleteevent() in usercontrol.ascx.vb from a javascript function in clickhandler(e) in usercontrol.ascx. The call should cause a postback because I need the usercontrol to display the changes.I am currently trying to do it by using a linkbutton with style display:none, and calling its click event from the javascript function. ASP.NET Dynamic User Controls
Jan 19, 2010I am programmatically adding some custom user controls to a PlaceHolder which I have on a simple aspx page. All of the user controls Postback's work correctly except for one which has a Gridview on it.
For some reason any postback that gets fired from within this control, does not call the specified event on the first click, however all future clicks it will work fine. I have no idea why this is the case, but many solutions I have found, suggest adding an ID to the ascx User Control, however this doesn't work in my case.
I've taken a look at the source file for the page that gets generated before and after the first click, javascript used for calling the postback changes, i.e
Before first click: onclick="javascript:__doPostBack('tmpControlID$sgvPrimaryEmploymentHistory','Select$0')"
After first click:

Again, nothing overly complicated. The USERCONTROLNAME is just a const with the value "tmpControlID" in it.
The control that is giving me trouble is a little complicated, I was originally using a custom GridView control that we have created, but have removed it and replaced it with the standard asp one to see if the problem still occurs, and it does.
Any button, on control which fires off a postback will fail the first time, and all future click will work correctly. On the first click the Page_Load event will get called, but that is it.

Dec 13, 2009I have a TreeView that I am using for display purposes only. I don't want the user to be able to select any of the nodes. Setting the enabled property of the form to False doesn't suffice since it changes the entire look of the nodes.
I tried canceling the select action in the BeforeExpand event. It kind of works. It selects, then de-selects the item. I'm going to play around with other events to see

Mar 27, 2009I am trying to build a tournament bracket application. In order to build the application efficiently I would like to make a user control "GameControl" that represents a game and give it attributes that represent the names of the competitors "TeamNameA" and "TeamNameB" ,an attribute "Winner" to represent which team should move on, and an attribute "NextRoundGame" that assigns another instance of the user control so that it can assign the "winner" to one of the "TeamName" attributes of the next round in the competition. If the controls were native to VB I feel like I could do it easily (I have only spent about 30 hours self teaching/tutorial following) but I can't seem to find out how to pass values to custom attributes of custom user controls through code.

The start date defines the first column the next column is the next date... until the end date (x-axis). The y-axis is technicians and the fields will show the assignment for the technician on that date.
All the advise I am seeing on datagridviews is to create a property methods to provide the information for each column. for example:

How do I create a object data source that allows me to populate the data grid? I want the column headers to be included as a string in row 0 of the multidimensional array. The amount of columns will be dynamic with a minimum of 1 and maximum viewing of 100 days based on what dates are selected in the start date and end date fields.The input dates will be used to generate a query to a database that will populate the multidimensional array.One solution I see is pick a start date and have a set number of dates and code for set number of columns (100) in a row and then set the names of the columns dynamically...ahhhh code repetition!
I am not sure how else to do this but looking for a more suttle way.I am using this to create a simple scheduling tool to see resource schedules by date. There is an unmoveable end date so initially I will need to look ahead 100 days but as the end date gets closer, I will have fewer and fewer dates. So eventually the end date will be that start date.

For me its no problem to make a treeview inside the MultiSelect boundaries but I need to save space on the original form where a MultiSelect control will appear, so I need to do it like the treeview will appear and after I choose items, it will disappear

How Does This Tie In With A Control Such As TreeView Especially When There Are No References

So far the client application only has a reference to the Business Logic (not Data Access).If i needed to tie a control such as a TreeView to list certain data fields from my table then where and how should i do that? For example i could write a For each statement to iterate through the table which returns the item from a table or i could do it in the WCF service app but how does this tie in with a control such as TreeView especially when there are no references?
