I'm trying to bind a WinForms TreeView control to some user-defined objects. In particular, I'd like to bind aTreeNode.Text property to myObject.Name. My strategy is to create xTreeNode, a subclass of TreeNode, add a DataBindings collection, and expose its Text property. This would allow me to write some code like this:

Dim oBinding as Binding
Dim bs as New BindingSource
bs.DataSource = myObj

vs2010 vb.net WPF project

This is an experiment to learn something.

I have a class called logitem

it has a datetime property, and a message as string property

I have declared myLogEntries as List(of logItem)

I have a ListBox.

Ok now what?

I have searched but i am getting lost in all the examples.

I have set the ItemsSource=myLogEntries

I think i need a datatemplate or maybe to specify binding source.

I am doing all this in the wpf form loaded event.

I guess i need a sample code for binding a list of collection to a listbox.

Bind Property Of User Control To One Of The Parent Control's Fields?

If I need access to the value of a user control's property BEFORE PreRender, would I need to base the custom control off of one of the preexisting data controls (repeater, listview,etc.)?One of my user controls features a gridview control that is configured based on the user control's properties on which it resides. Several of the key properties alter the SQL Statement for the underlying recordsource. I'm now in a situation where the property that sets the WHERE statement for the SQL Statement needs to tied to a value in the user control's parent FormView. Think of the formview as displaying a customer detail record. The user control takes the customer's account number and then displays data from a related table such as Customer Contact Names. Since the gridview is created before the control's prerender event, working within the prerender event doesn't seem efficient.

I am working on a windows form project and having some problem with UserControl Double Buffering.I created a usercontrol and has a background image, then on top of it I have few radio buttons and labels. Radio buttons and labels are all having transparent background as color.However, when I show and hide the User control, I can see the flickering on those labels and radio buttons that has transparent background.And I tried

I am developing a Windows Form Application against a SQL Server relational database. An example of the database schema is:

TableA
------------------
PK A_ID uniqueidentifier
A_NAME varchar(254)

In the form I have a ComboBox (cboA_ID) to select the TableA record (DataSource = TableA, DisplayMember = A_NAME, ValueMember = A_ID) and a TabControl where controls on each tab are bound to fields in either TableB or TableC.My question is, is it possible to bind cboA_ID to TableB.A_ID and TableC.A_ID?This is my first database application so if there is a better way to do this I'm all ears. I have set everything up using the wizards in Visual Studio 2010, so I'm still not 100% familiar with what all the various TableAdapters and DataSets do.

I don't know if this is even the correct terminology but I was wondering if it is possible to bind a row (of data) from a database to an object. I am working on a school project and we have decided to create this application to track a user's BMI/BMR and compare it to the amount of calories they have input. The program doesn't go too in depth so it does not store the calories consumed in the database.

So here is my problem. I have a row in my database:

First_Name -- Last_Name -- Height_Inches -- Weight_Pounds

And I guess what I am thinking I want my program to do is if I have an object with properties for FirstName, LastName, HeightInches, WeightPounds, is to somehow query the database for one row and put the values into the object. All we have learned so far is binding the data with controls which doesn't really help in my case since the work is going to be done behind the scenes.

I have the following code on a form:

Public Sub Init(ByVal SelectedItems As List(Of Cheque))
Items = New BindingList(Of Cheque)(SelectedItems )
BindingSource1.DataSource = Items

This code gets called like so:

All variables are populated etc, it seems to go through the DataBindings.Add ok but when the form appears I get the error about unable to bind to a property or column called Id. I tried replacing the DataBindings.Add code to use the BindingSource1 instead of Items but I get a similar error.The names of the properties in the class match that of the name in the Databindings.Add code.

I have two nested objects, and the form has two ListBoxes, where I want the last to respond to the selection of the former. It can even be some times deeper than 2 levels, which can make it a bit cumbersome. I solve it by raising events in any method that makes an add/delete/rename of these objects, and the form listens for these events, and when fired, clears it's lists, and loops through these objects to populate the lists again. binding lists, but this seems to introduce a few issues. First I need to keep a set of extra lists in the main BLL class, but more importantly, I feel I'm violating the layered structure between the BLL and the form, as in this case, the BLL needs to keep track of the current selected indexes of the listboxes in some variable. So that doesn't feel right, as it makes the BLL vulnerable to what the form does, and I assume is simply principally incorrect.

Following is example of object structure, where two ListBoxes should display "Company Names" and "Employee Names", and the Employee name listbox obviously change according to the selection in the Company Name listbox.

In my software course, each time we submit an assignment, we have to include a document with the starting properties of each object in a form.

E.g.

TextBox1
Location: 241, 115
Name: TextBox1
Size: 100, 20
TabIndex: 0

It's a real pain to scroll through the properties viewer and copy and paste each customised value for 30+ objects on a form... I was wondering if there'd be an easy piece of code or way about getting an (at least partially) automated printout/view of all the properties of the objects.

Was thinking some sort of private sub I could past into the bottom of the program and run on load, that gets all objects, and outputs the non-default properties to a report or something?

Displaying List Of Objects As Single Column In A Bound Gridview (Winforms)?

I have a gridview that is bound to a datasource on a Windows Form (VB.NET). The grid displays a list of "certifications", and each "certification" can be associated with many languages. So in the grid, I'd like to display "languages" as a column, and display a comma delimited list of the language names for each "certification".

In the "certification" class, one of the properties is a list of "language" objects, and each "language" has an ID (guid), name (string), and value (integer).

So in the datasource, I have the list of "languages", but I can't figure out how to display them in a column on the grid. The gridview won't let me add the language list property as a column.

So is the ONLY way to add a new property on the "certification" class, which returns a string that contains the comma delimited list, and show THAT on the grid? Or is there a way to display that list of "languages"?

Bind Control.Text Property To Control Position In FlowLayoutPanel?

Is there a way to bind the text property of a control to an expression? I have a user control that I add to a FlowLayoutPanel. You can see I have 4 controls in the FlowLayoutPanel below. The first control is a LinkLabel and the other three are my user controls which are numbered 1, 2, & 3. I'd like to bind the label that shows the 1, 2, or 3 to the user controls index within the FlowLayoutPanel.

If I happen to remove the 2nd user control I want the 3rd user control to now display 2. I could use the FlowLayoutPanel ControlAdded or ControlRemoved events, but wanted to see if I could do some binding first.
