When we run our application under Windows Server 2008 the document name is truncated in the main window title for the document. This is not the case when we run our application under Windows XP. Is there a way to prevent this truncation under Windows Server 2008?Mary Leathem

View 11 RepliesWhat is the best way to write data from a hierarchical set of objects to a file? The highest order parent has 1000's of children all with children (DOM style). Trying to traverse the tree and creating one big string which is then written to a file is throwing an out-of-memory exception while creating the string.
Details I've created a set of classes that make up an HTML document. There was control that I needed that the pre-packaged HtmlElement and HtmlDocument didn't give. The Document Object Model is maintained throughout, with some similar methods and properties and such. I'm using the custom classes to create a very large HTML document. When I say large, I mean on the order of over 2000 printed pages. It's doubtful that they will all be printed, but some will be.
My base HTMLElement object, from which all other objects are derived, contains an OuterHTML property which, as expected, gets the full HTML of the calling object and the HTML of all child elements. After the code which generates the report runs, I have my HTMLDocument object containing the entire report which needs to be written to a file. Here is where I keep running into problems.
If I call OuterHTML on the HTMLDocument object, I get an out of memory exception.
Other reports have saved fine, but this is by far the largest report I've thrown at my HTMLElement object. My assumption is that the property call is generating too much text.
I am basically just creating a new .HTML file, opening it for reading, and writing in all of the text. Like:
File.WriteAllText(FileName, HtmlDoc.OuterHTML)
I just begin learn VB .net. I met a problem which axwebbrowser.document can not cast to mshtml.document. My webbrowser is loaded a PDF screen from some web site. My purpose is to get the content from PDF page.

View 1 RepliesMy application needs to extract an embedded file (OLE object) from an excel 2003 document to a file on disk. This file can be any type, not only an Office document. Searching in the web it seems to be possible by copying OLE object to Clipboard and later copying (binary) it to a file (¿perhaps using MemoryStream and FileStream?), but I see no working code about this.

There's not a lot of code in the program so I will list it below.

PrintDialog1.Document = PrintDocument1 PrintDialog1.AllowPrintToFile = TruePrintDialog1.PrintToFile =
TruePrintDialog1.ShowDialog()
When I run it, I get a Dialog Box with a "Print to File" checkbox that is checked. I do not seem to be able to specify a file name or location. When I click the "Print" button, I don't get any error messages and the dialog box just closes. I can't find anywhere that the file is saved.

I am trying to put together a program that will run in the background which will monitor each print job and redirect them to a specific printer depending on the file size.Example, if Jody prints a 3mb file it goes to her default printer. Then if Jody prints a 200mb file it automatically gets redirect to another printer without Jody having to select that printer.
View 2 RepliesMy program splits a mulitpage tiff file (batch of purchase orders from Sage MMS)into separate files by doing OCR and using the MODI functions.My code has three main loops. 1st loop goes through each of the pages and splits the tiff into separate tiff files based on order number and stores them in a directory. for each order i also create an array of information by doing OCR from the tiff ie. order number, customer etc etc. 2nd loop goes through the array. for each order number in the array checks to see if there is another tiff file existing in another directory. This could be a separate sheet which needs to be attached to the main purchase order and comes from a document scanner in another office.If there is an additional file i merge that tiff file with the current tiff file. 3rd loop goes through the array once more and uses the microsoft faxcomexlib to faxed the files using my server 2003 fax serverthe 3 loops work perfect and very fast and i can send the faxes no problem.
I also add all the array information into an access database so historical purposes.My problem:In the first loop i need to check that the fax has not already been sent. (users can reprint orders so need to be careful that fax isnt sent more than once) I do this by getting the order number and querying the database. If the order does not exist then i can proceed else i prompt the user to refax yes or no.i have put the database connection and sql in a function which returns true or false. however when i add the function to my main loops i get a file lock on the current order. If i remove the function my code works perfect.
Dim conn As New OdbcConnection(constr)
Dim cmdselect As New OdbcCommand
' Get status from current job

I have a function on my program that allows a user to load a listbox filled with words that are matched with words inside a databank. The databank is filled with 2 string arrays and file of .jpg Pictures. The Arrays attached to each word inside the listbox are approximately one page. Each page is two paragraphs of Text(string Array) and one Picture(20Kbytes).My problem is this. When the user selects the option print all, the listbox with approximately 10255 words is selected and begins to fill a Microsoft Word Document.Because the alotted amount of space needed for the MS Word Document is approximately 5 Gbytes,I need to open about 10 Documents and insert the String Array's and Pictures into each document one at a time.Is there anyway to check the filesize of the Open Document before saving the document.This way I could check the open document inside the algorithm for 512 Mbytes of memory and save the document before the size gets above 512 Mbytes.[code]
