I am having trouble assigning the "Author" property of a document. All other properties function as expected. No error occurs and the author is not assigned.[code]
View 2 RepliesI've looked at the headers for several .lit files and the author and title are easily visible when viewed with a hex viewer, my problem is that they appear to move (relatively), suggesting that the header information is pushing them around.
I've tried to work backwards from their current location and determine what links to what but to no avail. I realize that the ereader format is 1) proprietary 2) locked but wonder if anyone who has some experince could point me to the structure or possibly show me the links from the header to the author / title fields.
when I generate my <appname>.exe file, the summary properties fields are all empty. There must be a way I can add this, but I haven't found it yet. I am running VisualBasic .Net 2003 standard edition.b

I have an XML that looks like this:

This allows me to sort by the primary Author, Series, Episode, and Title.
In my application I house the data in a DataSet and then use a DataView to reference it in a Grid.
I'm using VS2005, VB.NET, and I have two questions:
1) How do I replicate the Sort I'm using in my XSLT?
2) How do I pull the primary Author up to the Book level so that it can be displayed in the Grid?
Dim Document = XDocument.Load(FileName)
Dim findElement = Document.Elements("GradeProfile")

I'm using Visual Basic express 2008.The application I am working on is the first major project I have ever undertook with visual basics. The application is a launcher for a private server for world of warcraft.I have a menu bar that pulls the file path of the wow.exe and puts it in a hidden textbox, I then have another option that saves this text to c:wowexe.txt. All of this works GREAT!
How can I read the .txt file to end and return the information stored in the .txt file to this line of code.
Dim RetVal
RetVal = Shell("This is where I need the data from the .txt file to be seen", 1)
If your wondering why I don't just type in the path of the .exe, it's simple, not everyone installs World of Warcraft on the C drive.

View 11 RepliesWhat is the best way to write data from a hierarchical set of objects to a file? The highest order parent has 1000's of children all with children (DOM style). Trying to traverse the tree and creating one big string which is then written to a file is throwing an out-of-memory exception while creating the string.
Details I've created a set of classes that make up an HTML document. There was control that I needed that the pre-packaged HtmlElement and HtmlDocument didn't give. The Document Object Model is maintained throughout, with some similar methods and properties and such. I'm using the custom classes to create a very large HTML document. When I say large, I mean on the order of over 2000 printed pages. It's doubtful that they will all be printed, but some will be.
My base HTMLElement object, from which all other objects are derived, contains an OuterHTML property which, as expected, gets the full HTML of the calling object and the HTML of all child elements. After the code which generates the report runs, I have my HTMLDocument object containing the entire report which needs to be written to a file. Here is where I keep running into problems.
If I call OuterHTML on the HTMLDocument object, I get an out of memory exception.
Other reports have saved fine, but this is by far the largest report I've thrown at my HTMLElement object. My assumption is that the property call is generating too much text.
I am basically just creating a new .HTML file, opening it for reading, and writing in all of the text. Like:
File.WriteAllText(FileName, HtmlDoc.OuterHTML)
I just begin learn VB .net. I met a problem which axwebbrowser.document can not cast to mshtml.document. My webbrowser is loaded a PDF screen from some web site. My purpose is to get the content from PDF page.

View 1 RepliesMy application needs to extract an embedded file (OLE object) from an excel 2003 document to a file on disk. This file can be any type, not only an Office document. Searching in the web it seems to be possible by copying OLE object to Clipboard and later copying (binary) it to a file (¿perhaps using MemoryStream and FileStream?), but I see no working code about this.
View 1 RepliesI have a very simple HTML reader for reading offline documents, and works very well when open using the menu. What do I need to do to get the reader to display the document I selected using by doing a double-click on the document name? The application will load, but the WebBrowser control stays blank. There's not a lot of code in the program so I will list it below.
