Retrieve Author / Title From An EReader (.lit) File?

May 1, 2011

I've looked at the headers for several .lit files and the author and title are easily visible when viewed with a hex viewer, my problem is that they appear to move (relatively), suggesting that the header information is pushing them around.

I've tried to work backwards from their current location and determine what links to what but to no avail. I realize that the ereader format is 1) proprietary 2) locked but wonder if anyone who has some experince could point me to the structure or possibly show me the links from the header to the author / title fields.

[2005] Categorie Doesn't Change When I Search A Title

Feb 28, 2009

Hi, I have a project that works with a database. It groups al my films per category. I use this code to group everything by category. The categories are chosen in the combobox cboCateogorie.

Private Sub cboCategorie_SelectedIndexChanged_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboCategorie.SelectedIndexChanged

If Not cboCategorie.SelectedValue Is Nothing Then
cboCategorie.DataBindings.Clear()
cboCategorie.DataBindings.Add(New Binding("Text", objDtsMuziekcollectie.tblCategorieen, "CategorieID"))
Dim dtvDVDInhoud As DataView

dtvDVDInhoud = objDtsMuziekcollectie.tblDVDInhoud.DefaultView
dtvDVDInhoud.RowFilter = "CategorieID = " & cboCategorie.SelectedValue.ToString
dtvDVDInhoud.Sort = "DvdID ASC"

objTblDVDInhoudBindingSource.DataSource = dtvDVDInhoud

Me.objTblDVDInhoudBindingSource.MoveFirst()

End If
End Sub

Now I've made a textbox and a button which I can search with. But I want that my category in the combobox changes when a film is selected with that search. Now I already have this code to search with a joker sign.

Private Sub btnZoek_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnZoek.Click
Dim dtvZoeken As DataView
dtvZoeken = objDtsMuziekcollectie.tblDVDInhoud.DefaultView
dtvZoeken.Sort = "DvdID"

objTblDVDInhoudBindingSource.DataSource = dtvZoeken

dtvZoeken.RowFilter = "Titel like '" & txtZoekveld.Text & "*'"

End Sub

Ok, so what I want is the opposite off what I do when I select a category in a combobox. Now I actually select a film and this film also has an ID, namely DvdID and with that I want that the combobox shows the category where the film belongs to.

Is it also possible to change the location of image where its getting the image. i mean, i would like to tell other computers to get their images from anywhere as long as it brings images to my server.i mean, say that comp1 which is connected to my database server for storing and retreiving information, gets his image from his location then the application sends the image to my server...the application retreives the image from the server..as simple as that.

VS 2005 Retrieving Values From Database?

Jun 23, 2011

Im taking over a project that pulls information from a database.Currently I have everything I need except the username.The person who setup the project did it as a web project so he used the MemberShip class to create unique user keys based on the person's username.

The username is not stored anywhere in the database only these userID keys.

The client wants a desktop app that mimics the website behavior of writing to the database.

Problem:I ask the user to enter in a username at the login. The username connects to the database on the server.I have no way of grabbing any user info after this point as the primary key(USERID) is a unique key and not a username. Is there a way to convert a MemberShip ProviderUserkey into a string Username or am I screwed?

I've used the Mid function but it wouldn't work if the amount of characters in the string changed. The string isn't automatically coded in as it's a text file that's uploaded.There are multiple words I need to find within the string also.
