I have the following code so far that's reading from my Xml Document:

I'm trying to store the content of the current childnode in ftype but I'm having trouble figuring out how. How could I do this?
Here's what I was looking for:
mainNode.ChildNodes.Item(i).FirstChild.InnerText.ToString()

This is a sample code in vb.net in which i retrieve the details of elements without attributes.
For Each standardItemInfoNode In ItemInfoNodes

How can i retrieve the details of the xml like having node with attributes and its child also having attributes. I need to retrieve all the attributes of node and its child node which are present in the middle of other xml tags.

I would like to have one Window (without child-windows) that can have multiple content-sets.For example: I want to have a set of lables and textboxes to save information for an object (like a person). This person has several sub-items. I want to have a set of lables and textboxes for these sub-items in my mainform too. But I don't want the lables- and textboxes-set of these two objects to be both visible at the same time.

i have been in state of hectic for the last 2 days making lot of research and finally made this code worked it for me. My problem is that, how can i make this code retrieve the image from sql server database...use picturebox to load it in the vb.net program.

Is it also possible to change the location of image where its getting the image. i mean, i would like to tell other computers to get their images from anywhere as long as it brings images to my server.i mean, say that comp1 which is connected to my database server for storing and retreiving information, gets his image from his location then the application sends the image to my server...the application retreives the image from the server..as simple as that.

Im taking over a project that pulls information from a database.Currently I have everything I need except the username.The person who setup the project did it as a web project so he used the MemberShip class to create unique user keys based on the person's username.
The username is not stored anywhere in the database only these userID keys.
The client wants a desktop app that mimics the website behavior of writing to the database.
Problem:I ask the user to enter in a username at the login. The username connects to the database on the server.I have no way of grabbing any user info after this point as the primary key(USERID) is a unique key and not a username. Is there a way to convert a MemberShip ProviderUserkey into a string Username or am I screwed?

I am trying to retrieve an image from a table in sql 2005 server. The field is set to image. I am trying to put the image strait into a picture box.
Here is my code I am using:

Although a few people around here have said that Dates are not a huge deal that they're simply data, I always seem to get stuck on them, and my current issue is no exception. I am trying to save/retrieve data between my Access 2003 data and my VB2005 form. I have tried any number of combinations (even the forbidden Value.ToString, and having the Data Type in Access as string, and although it worked fine for saving the data, it doesn't work for loading it back into the form.). I'm trying to obtain the Terminal Services Profile Path for a user using VB.Net and the System.DirectoryServices.DirectorySearcher. I am able to get the user object's first name, last name, city, state, zip, etc. However, there is one property that eludes me. Under VB.Net 2005, I created a Setup Project which produced installation files for a windows application. I placed the mdb file in the User's Application Data Folder and remapped the DataDirectory to Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData at runtime. Unfortunately, sometimes the system just did create the mdb file at the Application Directory.
An example was that I installed the program in Windows 7 under a normal user account. I chose inside the installer that the program would be made available to everyone. After installation, the mdb file would be created automatically for the Administrator account but not for the normal user account. For XP, the whole thing worked fine. I am tempted to write a routine to check and create the mdb file if it is not present, but why does this happens and what other opinions do I have?

Does anyone have any suggestions how I might store the contents of a RichTextBox that also includes images to a MSSQL 2005 database?I suppose a possible answer to this would be to convert the entire content of the RichTextBox to a Byte Array, and then insert the array as a varbinary(max) datatype.But how do I convert the content ?

i have a program with MDI parent and child. initially, the program will call a child e.g. ChildMain. on this child form, 2 processes are run. the 2nd is ran on a backgroundworker. the backgroundworkder in created through code. the process in the background worker is to create another childform but i'm having problem setting the MDIParent of this child form since VS is saying some sort of cross-thread issue.
