Aug 27, 2011I am trying to create an application, which in first phase will read the content of an XML file, count the products, and copy the content of the XML to a sql server database TEMP table, which i have already created. I have already created the code to read the content of the XML file and view it in a datagrid view. But i dont know how i should copy the content to the database i have created....

Aug 17, 2011I have created a windows form application which goes through Internet Explorer index.dat files and extracts various information (URL's , date they were last accessed etc). I then display this information in a data grid view. From here I would like to be able to click on a URL link and open the web page without activating any active content (such as java script, activex, viruses etc). I have tried to do this using Internet explorer in 'offline mode' with the problem being if the web page requires an online connection it automatically changes Internet Explorer from 'work offline' to online mode. Any better way to view the web pages with no active content?

I need to access, but not display, a web page out of a VB 2005 program. The web page would be an aspx page with a query string as part of the url - with the url using values acquired thru the program - e.g. www.mysite.com?arg1=this&arg2=that
So the aspx page would produce an html output with values I need placed in specific elements. I want to read that page from my app and do stuff with the resulting values.
Can't Allow Form To Gain Focus
Dec 19, 2011I have a form where in it there's a webbrowser control doing some autonomous tasks. I leave it running in the background but, due to the navigation in the webbrower control, the window pops-up in front of all others and this is really annoying when Im doing something else.
Is there a way to disable the form from auto-focus or whats doing? Even if I hide the form using Hide() it still is able to remove the focus from whatever window has it.

Dec 14, 2010I have set a scrollable control's autoscroll to true. What do you do when you don't want a scroll to occur? For example, suppose you have a RichTextBox and a button side by side as below:
Notice that "button1" has the focus. If you click on the RichTextBox to give it focus, the scroll bars will scroll until the upper left corner of the RichTextBox is in view.
But what if, for whatever reason, you wanted to keep button1 in view? How would you do that?

I have a nice little form that I can enter parameters and click on buttons to do things. Rather amazed as its been a lot of years since I did any of this and thought I had forgotten it all.

Dec 22, 2011Under VB.Net 2005, I created a Setup Project which produced installation files for a windows application. I placed the mdb file in the User's Application Data Folder and remapped the DataDirectory to Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData at runtime. Unfortunately, sometimes the system just did create the mdb file at the Application Directory.
An example was that I installed the program in Windows 7 under a normal user account. I chose inside the installer that the program would be made available to everyone. After installation, the mdb file would be created automatically for the Administrator account but not for the normal user account. For XP, the whole thing worked fine. I am tempted to write a routine to check and create the mdb file if it is not present, but why does this happens and what other opinions do I have?

May 31, 2011I don't know whether it is simple or not because i am new to programming. my requirement is : In my vb.net winform application, the filenames of the files present in "D:Project" willbe displayed in DataGridView1 control. Now I want to load these files one after another into memory stream buffer and add the headers("ID","Name","Class") to the content in the file. Then I want to save these files in "C:" with "_de" as suufix to the filename i.e.,sample_de.csv.

I could use the WriteXml method of the DataSet to do it, but the database tables are really huge and I can't add all those tables in the DataSet at the same time or it may cause a problem because of the big amount of memory used. Then I decided to use the DataTable's WriteXml method and save table after table, but the the generated file only stores the information of the last DataTable.WriteXml's call. How can I preserve the previous XML data when adding all that information?

Mar 3, 2012I have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.
