How To Gain Access Other Windows
Jun 16, 2011
I'm trying to use a program to automatically search forum posts to check for certain misspelled words. I'm using the findstr method but cannot get it to search the textbox in the browser.I do know how to have it search within the application itself by using textbox1.text for example but not other windows.

I have a fair bit of experience with VB.NET and C# (In this case I chose VB.NET, blame my laziness), but I do most of my professional work using PHP. I have no experience what so ever in using any database with VB.NET let alone MySQL.Just FYI, at the moment I am only trying to Query the database to gather the information required to activate. The Activation wizard and algorithm building (which is finished anyway), and everything else will come soon. I chose the MySQL database because I have experience with it, and it seems the best option for remote usage. The whole idea already works in PHP, I'm just have major issues moving it accross into VB.NET (Using the MySQL Connector.NET);I understand the basics, and all I need to know how to do is Count Rows and gain access to the other information in a row based on provoided information (in PHP, through mysql_ result)
So, here goes nothing, this is the Query code I am using in PHP to complete the job I want to do in VB.NET. [code] As you can see, I basically need to get the PHP code into VB.NET to fit into the 'btnQueryDB.Click' Command in VB.NET. By Equivalent, the Product ID in VB.NET will come from 'txtPID' and similar, Serial Number will come from txtSNUM. Once counted to be 1, the Activation Code and Status will be fed into 2 other text boxes in the form. (acCode, and acStatus).

I have a form where in it there's a webbrowser control doing some autonomous tasks. I leave it running in the background but, due to the navigation in the webbrower control, the window pops-up in front of all others and this is really annoying when Im doing something else.
Is there a way to disable the form from auto-focus or whats doing? Even if I hide the form using Hide() it still is able to remove the focus from whatever window has it.

I have set a scrollable control's autoscroll to true. What do you do when you don't want a scroll to occur? For example, suppose you have a RichTextBox and a button side by side as below:
Notice that "button1" has the focus. If you click on the RichTextBox to give it focus, the scroll bars will scroll until the upper left corner of the RichTextBox is in view.
But what if, for whatever reason, you wanted to keep button1 in view? How would you do that?

When I schedule the service this is working absolutely fine in my Windows XP machine. But when I installed the same service in our development server (Windows 2003 64 bit Server) for some reason it is not able to locate this file.

I might not have the correct Jet 4.0 engine. The specs I have are: MSJet40.dll, Dated 7/13/2009, Prod Ver 4.00.9756.0.

I built this vb.net windows application that uses an Access DB for data storage and it works fine in visual studio. The problem is, when I deploy, install it from an MSI, i get this error: (see below)If I right click on it and run this program as administrator, it works fine. I thought it was a permissions problem so I gave user, administrator and system full rights to all the files in the directory. But I still get the error.Isn't giving all the files in the program directory full rights the same as making it run as admin?

I've recently been asked to develop an application for the Motorola MK4000, an all-in-one device with a built-in barcode scanner. It runs Windows CE and supports VB.Net.
I've never written an application for Windows CE, nor using a barcode scanner.
I'm familiar with VB.NET so I'm confident I can figure this out, how to use the barcode scanner with possibly some example code of how to detect it and read data from it.

I have a web service that I will need to add as a web service reference in my vb.net application which is a plug-in to Outlook. I initially tried adding the reference by right clicking on the Project and selecting "Add Service Reference". In the box that pops up, I type the web service url in the address field and the namespace name and click ok.

I've run into an issue with Access Key in either Visual Basic or C#... also happens whether on my windows 7 64 but laptop or my Windows Vista 32 bit laptop - in Visual Studio 2010 professional... I create an Access Key (for example E&xit)... while the underline under the x shows up in the development area, it does NOT show up when I run the application NOR does it work... for example, press alt-x does not run the code associated with the exit (nor does a break into that code show it gets into that code). When I try it in a menu, it is a little different at first the underline under the access key does not show up but then after I access something by hand, it sometimes shows up and is usable.

One of my application is taking a lot of time on Windows 7 compared to XP. What application basically does is it creates some PDF files reads the content and emits on a form and then deletes the files. I ran ANT profiler on both XP and Win 7, and i could notice some differences. On win 7 some CAS related methods are widely called and those method calls were missing on XP.. Is this the reason ? If someone has faced similar issues,

I am testing the operation on Windows 7 client computer of a program developed using VS 2003 (vb.net coding) and Access 2003 data bases. The program works fine on XP and Vista client machines. On Windows 7, however, there is a problem with just one operation: the compacting and repair of the Access 2003 databases.
The compacting and repair operation uses JetEngine and CompactDatabase statement as per the Microsoft link: [URL] Windows 7 throws up the error: "Access to the ....mdb database is denied" - that is access denied to the database being compacted.

I have a VB.Net windows application which needs to modify a MS Access database availabe in server. The login user does not have permission to the folder where the database is available. So I am using windows impersonation with another user's credentials to access to that folder. This works fine and I am able to create a new text file in that folder. But when I try to access the database try to get a dataset from the database, it gives "unspecified error". When I check in the internet some people say that there could be problem with temporary files that OleDB tries to create.
