I am writing a MDI program and I need to know how I can get the index of a MDI Child Form. Is there any possible way to do this in VB.NET 2005?[code] The form that this code is coming from is not the MDI Container.
I have a VB. Net App where I want the user to open a modeless form which contains reference information about items in a select box. If the user double clicks the item selected in the list box a modal form is opened to edit the item.I want the previously opened reference form to remain active/enabled, that is, I want the user to be able to click on it, move it, etc.I was able to get the form to at least show up on the task bar by setting it's "ShowInTaskBar" property to true, however, when it comes to the front the user can still not move it to the side to view all of the Edit Forms information.

i have a program with MDI parent and child. initially, the program will call a child e.g. ChildMain. on this child form, 2 processes are run. the 2nd is ran on a backgroundworker. the backgroundworkder in created through code. the process in the background worker is to create another childform but i'm having problem setting the MDIParent of this child form since VS is saying some sort of cross-thread issue.
Is there anyway to disable/remove "Restore" button in MDI Child form while child form is in Maximized state?I have set "ControlBox = False". Although this remove the whole control box including "Close".Case is I want this "Close" button but not "Minimize" or "Maximize/Restore" button. Is there anyway to do this without using API?
I have a MenuStrip with File > New, Open, Save, Exit located in a parent form, and a RichTextBox located in a child form. The problem I'm running into is concerned with the destination of the file elected from "Open" and the save. When a user selects their file from "Open", I need it to open the child form and put the text into the RichTextBox.I also need the program to be able to "Save" from a child form, whether it's been brought up via "New" or "Open".
I have a list of objects, each with several events. I can add an eventhandler to each object, so I can catch each item's events. But I would also like to know the sender's index in the list (ie, was this object the 3rd, 5th, etc, item in the list?) I'm guessing the object doesn't "know" its position.I could give each object an index number property when it is created and added to the list, so that information could be passed. However, I would have to reindex every item everytime I use remove, insert, etc, methods.
i have created two forms A and B when button in form A is clicked B is invoked when B is running its not possible to work on A until i close form B. How can i work on A without closing B
I'm creating an application that uses an MDI container to create a sort of desktop style for my form with a group of icons docked to the left hand side. The rest of the form is the desktop area that I want all windows to open in.If I use the standard File-New option that is provided by VB as a default for the MDI container this works fine and a child window is loaded. If I use similar code from one of the icons this also works fine.y problem is that one of my child forms is a search panel and when I double click on one of the results I want a window to open, but as an MDI child. However, this doesnt happen. When I open the window it opens as a completely separate window and isn't docked within the MDI parent. It also appears on the task bar as a separate application.
I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.
Note: I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. Note: There are a lot of MDI Child posts, but none (that I have found) that apply to my scenario... Scenario I have an MDI form with a UserControl docked at the top. The UserControl is for navigation and is ~50 pixels in height. When I show a child form with its WindowState property already set to 'Maximized', the child form shows maximized in the MDI parent, but behind the UserControl.
The following code does create a form within a form and does place NotePad inside the child form. You have to manually start NotePad prior to execution (I work on that later) but the code does workŠ My problem is now I want to manipulate the properties of notepad i.e. focus, size, location, etc. but I cannot figure out how to reference notepad and its properties.
i have my main child form open. then i show the new form:
[Code]...
but when the form opens it flickers a lot. so i want move the new form behind the main form while it loads so the user does not see the flicker. once it is done loading i will set the form to topmost. how do i move the new form behind the main form?
Im working with MDI parent/child objects. when closing the child objects i need the child to check to see if it is the last child object before closing. i couldn't find anything on google, maybe im searching for the wrong thing.
I keep getting the error message "Index out of range exception" when I run the following code. XX GN3 = (Loops * 5) For a = 1 To Loops For b = 1 To GN3 R1 = Seeds1(Counter1) Randomize() R2 = CInt(Int((56 * Rnd(R1)) + 1)) Counter1 += 1 MessageBox.Show(R1 & " " & Counter1 & " " & b & " " & GN3) Next b Next a
The message box conforms that the last entry in the array has been reached. And that Counter1 and b both start at 1 and go to 2845. And that GN3 is also 2845 all of the time.
How I can find the index for the listview on a listview click event to something like this:
Private Sub listView1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) MessageBox.Show(listView1.Items(e.Index).SubItems(1).Text) End Sub
I don't want to use for each integer in the listview as i would keep getting the loops which I would hate to use it. I only want to use something like e.Index.
I know that the index is not a member in e, but I don't want to use listview item check event due to loops.
how I can find the index for the listview items without using for each integer as only using e.index?
ListView Properties- I set MultiSelect to False, LabelEdit to true,FullRowSelect to True. I have Listview with two columns.
1) When I select onw row in listview,On button click i want to get the index of selected row. I m getting it but using for loop,I want to know is there a way to know the index of selected row,Without using the for loop.
I drag Tabcontrol.& add two tab pages. I have contextmenu Strip, dat i bound to tabcontrol.I select the ContextMenuStrip & set it to ContextMenuStrip1 Now i right click on tab headers.Suppose i right click on tabpage1,contextmenu is displayed.I want that when i right click on tabpage..I want to get the index of that tab..Even if dat tab page is selected.
I am having nearly 20-25 textboxes on the form. I had already given tab index to those textboxes. So when i press enter, the textbox tab index must be navigated instead of tab. After entering text in TextBox1, when i press enter, it must goes to the TextBox2.How to do this?
