Change List Of Combobox A Based On Item Chosen From Combobox B?

Jun 17, 2011

I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.

For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.

Jul 29, 2011

I have two ComboBoxes

<ComboBox Name="cmbMake" DisplayMemberPath="MakeName" SelectedValuePath="MakeID"/>

I use LINQ-to-Entities to populate the cmbGroup ComboBox

Dim db as myDataEntity
cmbGroup.ItemsSource = db.Makes

How do I populate my second ComboBox (cmbModels) based on the selection of the first ComboBox (cmbMake) using XAML so that whatever I select in the first ComboBox automatically filters the ItemsSource in the second ComboBox?

.net - Finding A Childs Row And Column In UniformGrid Based On Index In WPF?

Apr 10, 2012

In WPF, I have a Uniform Grid and would like to be able to find the row and column based on the index of a child element.

I know there is a mathematical way of doing this and would rather not use a normal Grid.

If it helps, I can get the total number of rows and columns by using:

Math.Sqrt([*uniformgrid*].Children.Count)

Index (zero Based) Must Be Greater Than Or Equal To Zero And Less Than Size Of Argument

Nov 1, 2011

I get this error when clicking on any of the letter buttons in my repeater. The sql statement I have works in sql server, but on my page it just errors out. The only thing that is different is that in sql server I change '@CompanyID' to an actual ID and '{0}' to 'a' so the query will run. All the posts I have found online with this problem say something about this-->{0}, but I don't see anywhere that I might be trying to pass more than one argument or have this wrong.[code]

SelectedIndex : Gets Or Sets The Zero-based Index Of The Currently Selected Item In A ListBox?

Jun 7, 2012

First of all, I'm a somewhat-experienced VB3 Developer, and I'm trying to convert a VB3 app to VB.NET.I got the programming guide (http:url....) by searching the web.The problem I'm having is the syntax for .NET is way different than VB3, and that's OK, but finding the correct syntax is very difficult.I'm trying to eliminate duplicates in a ListBox:

When I access the Programing guide, I see that:

ListBox.SelectedIndex Property

Gets or sets the zero-based index of the currently selected item in a ListBox.I also have Murach's and Stephen's manuals, and they say the same thing.Visual Studio converted The old .ListIndex to a VB6 Function:

If VB6.GetItemString(PlayList_ListBox, I) = VB6.GetItemString(PlayList_ListBox, I + 1) Then

This is Try #1. It generates: VB6 is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.Then I read that VB6 is only for converting old code.So then I tried SelectedIndex:

Dim I As Short [code]..........

Dynamically Create Array Based On String Length Property and Index Of Method

May 4, 2009

I would like to format output to a property of a custom control I have made.For instance I have a literal control in my control and when populated I want to check if it is longer than 30 characters long, if so, then go to the next space (as to not cut the word off) after the 30th character and place a <br /> tag in to place the next 30 characters on the next line.So if there were 100 characters in a string, there would be 3 line breaks in the label.I have the looping worked out to get the label populated but cannot get how to dymaically create the array based on the string lenth property and index of method.

Assign Index On Combobox/Listbox?

Jun 15, 2009

Trying to learn VB 2005. So my questions might tend to use the logic from VBA/VB6.

So, my question is, is it possible to assign indexes on the listbox/combobox? What I have is an ID and a Description from a table and would like to display it on listbox/combobox to allow user to choose from by looking for required description. When selected the ID will be used to search for other information related to this ID.

I manage to display the description but how to assign the IDs?

Combobox Index Change On Form Close?

Dec 16, 2010

I have a combo boxthat holds a list of values that are a custom object and when a value is selected a few text boxes are loaded with data. I use the SelectedIndexChanged Event. Works wonderfully.I noticed that this even is also called when a user clicks the 'x' to close the form. I just wanted to understand the logic behind that. I get that the technically index is changing since the cbobox value is being set to nothing, but to me that just seems a little inefficient.

ComboBox Selected Index For Data Entry

I am using vb 2008, DataBound Controls and typed dataset. My form is having Group Box (initially hidden) and some text box, combobox controls for Data Entry, and the code is

bsSales.AddNew()
txtCreditDays.Text = 20
dtDueDate.Value = dtSalesDate.Value.AddDays(txtCreditDays.Text)
cboGodown.SelectedIndex = 0 '
Default
gBox.Visible = True
dtSalesDate.Focus()

I have set the combo box to select the 1st record in the list however, when the next Statement that is "gBox.Visible=True" is executed, the Combo Box is again set to -1 position. Why is it?

Setting Selected Index On DataGridView Combobox?

Oct 13, 2008

I can't seem to set the selected index or selected value of a DataGridView combobox when loading data from a database. My DGV has two combobox columns which are bound to datatables. The DGV itself is not bound initially. After adding a row, I select a value from each combobox which then populates the rest of the cells in the row. I'm using the EditingControlShowing event to add an eventhandler to catch the SelectedIndexChange of the combo boxes. This all works as needed. My issue comes when populating the DGV with saved data, I need to add the rows and set the selected index and/or selected value of each combo box. I've searched through various forums and articles for the last week with no luck.

I'm using VS2008 sp1, .NET 3.5 sp1 and SQL 2005 sp2 Express.
