I've got a property in my class that I have given the task of holding the username of the person that logged in and I would want to access that username in another form another time. How do I go about this?
This is the code for my property:
Private _LogInUser As String = String.Empty
Public Property LogINUserName() As String
Get
Return _LogInUser
[Code] .....
This is how I am assigning my value to the property in my login form
'Private comm1 As CommManager = New CommManager' the new instance of the class
Dim sql As String = "SELECT reference,UserName,UserPassword,UserCompany FROM Users WHERE UserCompany = '" & cmbCompany.Text & "' "
Conn.Open()
Dim dt As DataTable = New DataTable
[Code] .....
How I expect to get my value
Label11.Text = comm1.LogINUserName
I have a problem involving late binding, and I absolutely cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it. I have spent hours researching the problem to no avail, so I am turning to stackoverflow as a last resort.The problem is pretty much this: I am creating a grocery list application. I have a class named Item which stores the name, price, quantity, and description of an item on the grocery list. I have a module named ListCollection which defines a Collection of Item objects. I have created an Edit form which will automatically display the currently selected ListCollection item properties, but whenever I attempt to fill the text boxes, it tells me that Option Strict disallows late binding. I COULD take the easy route and disable Option Strict, but I'd prefer to figure out what the problem is so I know for future reference.I shall paste pertinent code here. (Late binding error is in EditItem.vb)
[code]...
I have tried declaring a String variable and assigning the Item property to that, and I have also tried grabbing the value directly from the List item (not using the Get function), and neither of these made a difference.
how can i add a method to my extended webbrowsers Document property?
i.e.
webbrowser1.document.[myMethod]
I need to pass a parameter to the event PrintPage of the PrintDocument relative to my PrintPreviewDialog in some way.I tought to inherit PrintDocument class adding to it a property with the parameter I need, creating MyPrintDocument class. Then, I would like to create MyPrintPreviewDialog class, in which I could override the Document property declaring it of MyPrintDocument type.The problem is that the Document property is not overridable and if I declare it Shadows the PrintPageEvent doesn't raise.

View 1 RepliesI've looked at the headers for several .lit files and the author and title are easily visible when viewed with a hex viewer, my problem is that they appear to move (relatively), suggesting that the header information is pushing them around.
I've tried to work backwards from their current location and determine what links to what but to no avail. I realize that the ereader format is 1) proprietary 2) locked but wonder if anyone who has some experince could point me to the structure or possibly show me the links from the header to the author / title fields.
I have the following code at the beginning of the file:

Using Office automation in Word 2007, I view the Document Information Panel, showing me properties of a document that resides in a SharePoint location. Using VS 2008, I interrogate the following in the Immediate Window:
[code]...
but I don't see a corresponding change to the screen. I do however see that, on Advanced Properties/Custom Tab that a Custom Property by the name of "Process Name" has been recorded with the value "New Value"There seems to be some kind of one way mapping going on between "server" and "custom" properties, but the really strange part is:I can update SOME server properties, others I cannot.I don't know a darn thing about SharePoint, other than as a dumb user. And getting any help from a SharePoint admin in my company is probably a very long shot...I checked all of Word's Built-in Properties and Custom Properties, I decided that none of them can be used to update the "Process Name" "server" property.How can I update this stubborn property? Most of the server properties I can update, a few I cannot.I see some articles referring to using what looks like "SharePoint objects." Do I need to download an SDK just to populate these properties? So far I've used Office automation, because I am running locally on the user's PC and pre-filling documents using the Word object model. All that is left is to finish populating the last couple of server properties after I copied the doc to a Sharepoint folder.
Private Sub ShowCurrentRecord()

still, it doesn't work.
I am new to the world of VB.NET and have been tasked to put together a little program to search a directory of about 2000 Excel spreadsheets and put together a list to display based on the value of a Custom Document Property within that spreadsheet file. Given that I am far from a computer programmer by education or trade, this has been an adventure.
I've gotten it to work, the results are fine. The problem is, it takes well over a minute to run. It is being run over a LAN connection. When I run it locally (using a 'test' directory of about 300 files) it executes in about 4 seconds.I'm not sure even what to expect as a reasonable execution speed, so I thought I would ask here.The code is below, if anyone thinks changes there might be of use in speeding things up.
Private Sub listByPt()
Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo(dir_loc)
Dim aryFiles As IO.FileInfo() = di.GetFiles("*" & ext_to_check)[code]....
I have an XML that looks like this:
CODE:
This allows me to sort by the primary Author, Series, Episode, and Title.
In my application I house the data in a DataSet and then use a DataView to reference it in a Grid.
I'm using VS2005, VB.NET, and I have two questions:
1) How do I replicate the Sort I'm using in my XSLT?
2) How do I pull the primary Author up to the Book level so that it can be displayed in the Grid?

I have a very simple setup. In one of my class, I have a Property implementing a Property from an Interface.
In my class it's like:
Private _oForm As IForm
Public Property Form As IForm Implements IContainer.Form
Set(value As IForm)
[Code]...
I have like dozens of interfaces like this working throughout my project and I can't believe this simple one can't work!

I have a function on my program that allows a user to load a listbox filled with words that are matched with words inside a databank. The databank is filled with 2 string arrays and file of .jpg Pictures. The Arrays attached to each word inside the listbox are approximately one page. Each page is two paragraphs of Text(string Array) and one Picture(20Kbytes).My problem is this. When the user selects the option print all, the listbox with approximately 10255 words is selected and begins to fill a Microsoft Word Document.Because the alotted amount of space needed for the MS Word Document is approximately 5 Gbytes,I need to open about 10 Documents and insert the String Array's and Pictures into each document one at a time.Is there anyway to check the filesize of the Open Document before saving the document.This way I could check the open document inside the algorithm for 512 Mbytes of memory and save the document before the size gets above 512 Mbytes.[code]
