Asp.net - List View Displaying Pictures?
Apr 28, 2009I am using a ListView control to display Pictures along with description and caption. I used to save the full path of the image in the url field, so when I display them in the ListView I don't need to edit anything. Now I am using something like:
HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/photos/") + savedURL
How can I edit my ListView to make it show the images?
I used to do the same to GridView when in GridViews RowDataBound event I manipulate the contents like:
Dim photo As New Image
photo.ImageUrl = "~/photos/" + e.Row.Cells(TheCellNumber).Text
e.Row.Cells(0).Controls.Clear()
e.Row.Cells(0).Controls.Add(photo)

Sep 4, 2009I have a access db with 2 tables. Student School. When adding rows to the Student table for the field School the selection is a drop-down list. I want the school address to automatically populate the Student table for the field School Address on the Student table.

VS 2008 Pictures Over Pictures Over Background
Nov 8, 2009Im using a black n white image of a human as my back ground and panels to display the same bits in color when the area is clicked. What isn't working for me is the panels are slightly overlapped and one will always be on top of the other. it is transparent so you can see the back ground, but not the panel underneath it when it has a picture in it.

Sep 27, 2010I'm trying to move a lot of pictures from FOLDER A to another, FOLDER B. However, some of the pictures already exists in the FOLDER B. This stops my program saying it cannot copy the pictures over because they already exist. I'm trying to make it so any pictures from FOLDER A will copy over the pictures in FOLDER B if they are similar in name. Like... Folder A's pictures will just replaced the Folder B pictures if they have the same name. I was told to use the System.IO.File.Copy tool. Here is my code.

If no, there is another options to do so? Aug 18, 2011I am working on an application using Visual Basic Net 2008, and which will be distributed to users using Click Once via a CD.
There is a PDF file that I want to give the User access to, as needed.
My problem is that I don't know where the file should be located so that the User can simply click a menu item. The code to view the PDF is relativelysimple but I'm not sure where the file should be so that I can code it properly and make sure that Click Once picks up the location.
The code to view the PDF is System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:/Folder/file.pdf")

Is it possible to incorporate an auto email (outlook) so that I can automatically send the spreadsheet to my manager lets say his email is abc@xyz.co.uk. What I want to do is when the spreadsheet is opened an auto email is sent with the spreadsheet attached to my line manager.

VS 2005 - Auto Recovery Of Data (Save In File)
Dec 9, 2009I want to implement the auto recovery feature in my application. i.e auto recovery of data from power failure, system crash,etc. Since the program is an multiuser with different access levels to each user, I want to save the data in a file which can only be recognized by the program. I don't want to save the data in the db, as there are many modules in which this feature has to implemented, which will make me create an separate table for each module, for temporary storage.

The file upload is used to grab the path of the file and upload the path to the database not the file. I want to view/modify file metadata like Author, Title, Company, etc. that file may be a txt / doc / exe / xml / html / pdf any format... I found an example for this in CodeProject site. In that project they give dsofile.dll and source code for viewing/modifying file metadata. I tried to register that dll using regsvr32.exe (regsvr32 dsofile.dll). But it couldn't be registered. even i tried to download setup file from microsoft site but it was not found. Please help me to view/modify file metadata info.

Oct 27, 2009I would like to learn, to view the excel file from our vb.net. When I try to display the Excel file through the process, suppose if there is no process for excell.exe, [means not opened any excel file or excel.exe is not running in task manager] then that file can be viewable smoothly from following code.
But supoose previously any excel file is opened means, then its giving error like "Object reference Not set to an instance, use New Key word....." Also when i try to kill the process for excel.exe, it will kill the other opened excel files also.
