Change Backcolor Of Textbox Based On The Value Inside It?
Dec 31, 2010
Lets see if I can explain-I have a text box (rich text box) in a form. Inside the box, some data gets put in there- specifically insurance information.
Normally, the box doesn't need to change color to alert the user there's a problem with the text that's inside, because the information is usually good. But there are a few phrases that need to alert the user there's a problem.
For example, if the words "Not Found AS OF:" appear anywhere in the box, I need the background to show red.Or, if the words "Letter #1" appear in the box, it needs to show red. Absent of any key words, the box is normal (white).

I'm building an app that is a basic daytimer type of app. My problem is that I can't get the textbox(Textbox1) backcolor and text to change when I need it to. For instance, if there are events for January 12 and the user clicks on the Jan 12 link in the Calendar control, if there are any events in the SQL table for that day it should populate the appropriate times. The funny, or not so funny, thing is that I have another textbox named "TheEvent" that I can change the backcolor and text on with the code below and it works fine.[code]...
The title says it all, I'm having some difficulties with the combobox, The items in the list are "Black & Green" - Black will be the Backcolor of a Text box, and Green will be the Forecolor. The App I made is just a Mimic of a CMD, and replicates the output of the command into the Textbox. It's 100% complete, but I'd love it to have the ability to have different colors to choose rather than White and Black.

I am trying to create 5 Bitmaps 'on the fly' which I want to use in a ToolStrip DropDown. So far I have found a working way but I wonder if there isn't an easier way to do that? The reason why I have to create this images 'on the fly' is because users can select different colors for the Categories (which I have managed with Button(x).BackColor, so, in order to have the Menu Items shown the exact same colors I try to get a Bitmap based on the Button's back color and add it as MenuItem picture. Here is my code to create the images:
Public Sub MenuCategoryImages() Dim menuPic1 As Bitmap = New Bitmap(24, 24, PixelFormat.Format1bppIndexed) Dim pal1 As ColorPalette = menuPic1.Palette
I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

I have a problem with changing the color of a button (in vb.net). I have searched the web and plenty of people are willing to tell me HOW TO change the color but my problem is - it doesn't. I say it doesn't, it does when it has finished the rest of the code in the Sub. Can anyone furnish me with an explanation please as to why it doesn't happen when I ask? I'm using Visual Studio 2008
I tried to change the TabControl back color but only succeeded changing the tabs back color (with the code below) but not the tab control color (which is behind the tabs, in the upper right corner).
Private Sub TabControl1_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles TabControl1.DrawItem 'Firstly we'll define some parameters. Dim CurrentTab As TabPage = TabControl1.TabPages(e.Index) Dim ItemRect As Rectangle = TabControl1.GetTabRect(e.Index) [Code] .....
I look for way of easy change ToolStrip colour from horribel blue to any other color. I try make gradient image in memory for set BackgroundImage property but cannot know way to make image gradient for memory.
Ok here is the problem I have. On the tab control in visual basic 2010 there does not seem to be an option to change backcolor. I have searched the web for 6 hours (no joke actually 6 hours) but I have not been successful.
I'm trying to change the existing 10 labels color on my form at runtime they are named this way (label1,label2,label3...label10) however i haven't bin able to successfully do it so far. Here is the code:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim LabelArray(10) As Label For x As Integer = 0 To 9 Dim strLabelName As String = "Label" + x.ToString [Code] .....

I would like to change backcolor of current row in datagridview. Now this thing must work even if i change row trough keyboard, so click event doesn't do the trick for me.The thing is... i would like to accomplish something similar like the code below but on diferent event
Private Sub DataGridView_CellDoubleClick.... Me.DataGridView.CurrentRow.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.AntiqueWhite
I have a databound combo box column. When a value in another field starts with an 8, I want to make the combo box read-only and turn the background gray so the user knows it is read-only.
Here is the code I'm using, where am I going wrong? It doesn't change the backcolor to gray.
Private Sub dgvTest_CellFormatting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs) Handles dgvTest.CellFormatting
I would like to change the backcolor of the cell in a row based upon the value of a checkbox in another cell. The value of cell 2 would be a checkbox, so it is either true or false. If it is true, then color the backcolor of just cell 1?
If MyDataGridView.Rows.Count > 1 Then For Each orow As DataGridViewRow In MyDataGridView.Rows Console.WriteLine("DK {0}", orow.Index)[code]......
In WinForms (Vb.Net / Framework 3.5), I've created a BindableListView control that has a DataSource property that accepts IDataReader's, DataTable's, Array's, Generic Lists and Single objects. I also added the ability to alternate colors when the data is bound to the ListView (I put in sorting also by default with support for numeric & date time). What I have not been able to figure out yet is how to change the selected item's color from the System color (without changing the system color which I don't want to do). I've used the ItemSelectionChanged and SelectedIndexChanged to change the BackColor of the ListViewItem but the selected color always overrides the BackColor (HideSelection doesn't work because it only does that when the control loses focus). My question, Is there a way to change the selected items color (without drawing it myself)?
When I change the BackColor for a Form, and then add new buttons, they have by default the same BackColor as the Form itself. That does not show on my Windows 7 development computer, but when I use the program on an XP machine, all buttons appear the same color as the form.
I correct this by changing the button's BackColor property to ButtonFace, but it is a pain to do it all the time and some times it gets past me and a wrong color button goes into the application.
Is there a way to change how this works so all buttons are placed with ButtonFace BackColor by default?
I have searched the web and not found a good resolution for this problem in vb.net. When you change a color in the controls property it does not respond with the color changes.
I have several list boxes on a form, the items collection is filled at design time and the selectedIndex is changed at run time. when I change the SelectedIndex the backcolor of the control changes. I don't want this to happen.
How can I change a form's backcolor to gradient one. The code (VB.Net) - e.Graphics.FillRectangle(New Drawing.Drawing2D.LinearGradientBrush(New PointF(Me.Width, 0), New PointF(Me.Width, Me.Height), Color.FromArgb(0, 58, 140), Color.FromArgb(0, 215, 255)), New RectangleF(0, 0, Me.Width, Me.Height)) 'fade from left to right
This code changes the form's background to a gradient one. It works fine. Now I want this to take place in an MDI form which will be a container for other forms. If I turn option IsContainer = False then it works but otherwise it does now. How can I change backcolor of MDI Form to a gradient one ?
I'm trying to make the BackColor of each row the same when a certain field is equal. When it reaches a row where this field is not equal to the previous one, it changes the BackColor property of the row.
Below is what I've come up with... but all the rows are remaining the same color. From what I can tell i'm changing the DefaultCellStyle.BackColor property and that applies to all cells, not just the current row in the loop. What property do I change to only affect the current row in the loop?
vb Private Sub CommonSiteDGVBackColor() Dim switchBackColor As Boolean = False Dim prevSite As String = Nothing
