Change The "state" Of A Progress Bar?
Mar 31, 2010
I have tried to research this in great detail, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it.Many applications in Vista, such as those dealing with file system tasks, use a progress bar in either Green, Blue or Red depending on the the message it relays to the user.As far as Microsoft's MSDN online help can tell me I need to use PBM_SETSTATE to change the "state" or color of the progress bar.But I have only ever programmed in VB.net and I'm pretty much just a novice too..Does anyone know of any better online sources that can tell me how to change the "state" of a progress bar using vb.net.or MUST I change my style to C# / C++ ?? OR if I HAVE to use C, is there a way I can make something to include in my VB.Net Project that will do what I need it to?

Public Class Form1
Private Sub CheckBox2_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CheckBox2.CheckedChanged
[Code]....
As you can see, when I enable/disable my checkbox it enables/disables my textbox.
The thing is, I have more than one textbox, how can i add more textboxes to be enabled/disabled?
I tried using If TextBox2.Enabled = True AND TextBox1.Enabled = True Then
TextBox2.Enabled = False And TextBox1.Enabled = False. (of course fails)

What i want it to do is 'listen' to the lpt port, when a sensor is broken then display the time. there are two sensor to measure the time of the first and then the second sensor.How do i get VB to listen to the sensors which are on two different inputs of the lpt port and time stamp in micro seconds. I can get it to read the state of the input on mouse click but i need it to display the time in micro seconds when the input changes. i will then use the times from the two sensors to work out the time it took between both sensor changing.

I have placed a few radio buttons in a panel, but I have a weird problem where they require 2 clicks to change their state.If one of the radio buttons is checked, and I click once on another radio button, this will uncheck the checked radio button leaving no radio buttons checked. I then need to click the radio button a second time to change its state to checked.

I'm Re-developing an old VB6 program that I wrote years ago.The program has a "feature" where is shells 6 applications 1 after another, the form hangs whilst it is processing all the commands.Is there a way in .net to "properly" queue a list of commands?I've seen numerous things about WaitForExit - but again this hangs the main form and would like to do it a bit more proper this time round.Can I use Backround Worker for this function or have I completely misunderstood?i can queue all my tasks in background worker and after each exit go onto the next app & report progress back into the main form.Is this the best way of doing this sort of thing?Is there any way to change how progress is reported. how I can make a progress bar change colors while retaining the look of a Windows 7 Progress Bar. What I mean is, default it show the green. However, setting backcolor and forecolor does not affect the progress bar while XP styles is enabled.
What I am trying to do is make the progress bar the red progress bar if an error is encountered. I have the error solution set up, I just need it where the progress bar turns to red if the event of the download is stopped by internet connection being disconnected.

I am trying to implement a BGW and want to report progress to a progress bar for my TextFieldParser program, sometimes if your opening very large files it takes a while and I would like the user to be able to see the progress and have some interaction so they know the program is still running I am a little hung up on what to in the reportprogress
I have:
worker.ReportProgress(0, myReader.ReadFields())

If pbFileTransfer.Value <> e.PercentCopied Then
If txtCurrentFile.Text <> e.FilePath Then
txtCurrentFile.Text = e.FilePath

I have a filesystemwatcher which place files in a queue when they are created. From the queue the files are further processed (xml into SQL database).
The mechanism works fine, but I want to add a progress bar to follow the progress of the files in the queue: processing 1 of 10......2 of 10......3 of 10 etc.For testing, I created a batch file to simulate the creation of files, so the filesystemwatcher can to his work and place the files in the queue. When I tell the batchfile to simulate the creation of 20 files, I see that the amount of files in the queue change. For example;
