I have created a project using the visual studio database wizard to connect to a sql data base. Now i am trying to change the data base connection without modifying the much of the code.I looked in the project settings where the connection was saved and tried to modify it but its read only. Then i tried to change the read only property but all in vain.is there any way to overwrite the connection string.
thr are 02 fields username, pasword in database also two textboxes in vb.net form for username and pasword ... i need coding of if else which confirms that, if (username, pasword ) = username, pasword of atabase then
I would like to change the Name of the oracle Db. How can i change it.if i change the database name what are the things i have to keep in mind. Will it Affect any system files or oracle dll files if i create wrongly. Will the name of the Db be same for all the Oracle 9i s/w?
So here goes, I am a college student and well in my college our lecturer has specific standards. She wanted us to use SQL Plus in order to connect to VB.NET but the problem is I don't have that program at home (as in that i mean the SQL PLUS program, i have VB.Net already just missing the other progam) and considering i have so much coding done using the program in college i can't change it now.of me going off and change entire code each time. I know there is easier ways and less code to do things properly but i'm afraid even when i'd love other ways that save in code the lecturer won't pass me on that, i even have to present it too so i need to know to explain things clearly.
I am using a sql server database and i am storing the time value in the datetime variable. I am developing a booking system application in vb.net. When I want to view already made bookings using datagridview and by implementing dataadapter and dataset it shows the time column with system date which was saved with time when the record was inserted. Now I want to view only time in the Time field when extracting the data....What should i do now??
I'm trying to edit the CommandText for the Insert Command in a TableAdapter in the Designer in vb.net. Whenever I make changes to the CommandText, Visual Studio (2008) automagically changes the Parameters to a Collection consisting of one Parameter that existed before editing the Command, immersed in a sea of complete garbage Parameters, and then I either have to undo (unless this was the first thing I tried editing, in which case I have to close the Designer to discard changes and reopen it) or manually change ALL the Parameters back to something that isn't complete garbage.
I have a VS 2008 .NET application which connects to many tables within a SQL 2005 database in order to fill controls using multiple DataSets and TableAdapters.how to appropriately change the database connection within my Visual Studio .NET 2008 application in a manner that will provent having to modify the datasets and tableadapters. Will changing the connectionstring shown in the DataSet/TableAdapters properties render them unusable? The tables within the production database are identical to the tables in the development database.
'First creating a temp table, temptabell, and copying data to it from table tabell Dim strSql2 As String = "SELECT * INTO [" & temptabell & "] FROM [" & tabell & "]" Dim dbCommand2 As New OleDbCommand(strSql2, cn)

This is working, this is how I did it in VB6, but I wonder, is there an easier way?
Would it be possible to change field sizes more directly?
Using a Windows Form with a Menu bar and a Gridview control, I have bound data to the GridView from an MS Access 2000 database query using Dataset. The contents of this table displays just fine. But I want to be able for the user to select a different query from the menu bar and display it in the same GridView control. How can I change the query bound to the control (in VB)?
Public Class Actinide Private Sub Minerals_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.Actinide_Series__Radioactive_TableAdapter.Fill(Me.Minerals2000DataSet._Actinide_Series__Radioactive_) End Sub Private Sub LanthanideToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles LanthanideToolStri
[code]....
The error message that it is giving me is:
"Value of type 'Mineralogy.Minerals2000DataSet.Yttrium_MineralsDa ta Table cannot be converted to 'Mineralogy.Minerals2000DataSet._Actinide_Series__ Radioactive_Data Table'.
The query is getting information from two seperate tables,so I can't just bind a table to the control and then filter what is displayed using SQL.
I created a project in vb.net which is connected with database. The problem appeared when i changed the path which connect with the database, i made it relative. So some of the forms which contain the connection are working properly but in one form i got this error: [Code]
I have been trying desperately to update a data base file (Microsoft Access file) through a DataGridView control. The form is very simple, containing only a button and the DataGridView control. Whenever I change anything on the DataGridView control and press the Update button, I get an error saying ""No value given for one or more parameters". Below there's a picture showing both my form and the whole code , along with the error message. In case it is not possible to update a data base file through a DataGridView control.
I have a purely XML database. It's stored as XML, there is no other database file. I did this by first creating a dataset in VB, then adding tables and relationships. I load the database by calling DataSet.ReadXml(FilePath), and save the database by calling DataSet.WriteXml(FilePath).
Now I need to make schema changes, but need to preserve existing data. How might I go about doing this? As soon as I load the database I loose all data if I change the schema in the dataset designer.
I have searched for changing database schema, but everything I find deals with real databases, not XML only ones, and the info doesn't apply because they are using db connections and then running sql against it and AFAIK XML databases have no way to "connect".
Lets say we have an Access file in a well known path (i.e. "C:MyFolderMyFile.mdb"). That file does not have a primary key set on the table we are interested in . Is it possible to set one of the fields as a primary key (for example the "ID" field , which is also an AutoNumber data) ? And one more thing : I'd like to change the name of a field on that table . For example , lets say there is a field called "My Field 1" (note the space characters) and we want it to be renamed as "My_Field_1" . If it's possible , I'd like both these changes to be permanent in the data base file itself , not just in the imported DataSet ,
I'm searching for a way to change the font size of selected text in a RichTextBox (rtf) having different font families (e.g. Arial and MS SansSerif) and font styles (underline, bold...) using the FontDialog, but without changing the families and styles. The following code resets all the font attributes, which is not what I want:
We are thinking about changing our current database system, MS Access 2007 front end and MS SQL Server 2005 backend to using a higher level language such as Visual Basic .Net. I wonder if this is the BEST solution for data management? Currently, among others, we have two big database programs that handle more than two hundred users and it's crashed often. That's the reason we think about changing to something that can handle these database programs effectively preferably using MS technology such as .Net.
I am working on a produce inventory database in my VB Express program.I have a form on the bottom and a spreadsheet at the top. I want to enter all the data in the form and have that data automatically transferred as a group to the spreadshet in the upper part of the page when I press a button.I know that there's an insert function.I set it up correctly. The problem is that I have to convert the textbox, which contain string data, to the datatype used in the database spreadsheet.HOw do I use CAST or do this? Here's the function I am using:
Evernything is a string cause the data is coming from a textbox, I need to convert it to the datatypes used in the database. Also how do I use the CAST and Convert functions
A while ago i did a small VoIP chat for LAN-network where i used TCP protocol. But due to the overhead on TCP (causes major loopback in the sound) i'm trying to change to UDP, but got some problem.I used BeginAccept to add new clients to a list, but i can't use BeginAccept unless i use "Listen" first. But UDP dose not have the "Listen"-function, so i'm kind of stuck.(This is on the server-application)Here is most the code i use for the TCP version
Partial Class _Default Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load If IsPostBack = True Then

Three buttons-ABC,CBA and Show. if you click on ABC and then Click on Show button The textbox shows "ABC" but when I Clicking on CBA button And then Click on Show button The textbox shows again "ABC". IsPostback property will true on each time the page is posted to the server. So the session reset the value.

I am trying to change the cursor type to a crosshair but am having no luck. The program I am writing initially starts up as taskbar notfiy icon. Once one of the menu items is clicked the mouse cursor should change from an arrow to crosshair. This should remain like this when the mouse button is pressed again, held and then released and then it should go back to being an arrow cursor once again. To start off, I wrote the following code:
Private Sub changeMouseCursor(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles DisectMyScreenToolStripMenuItem.MouseLeave Cursor = Cursors.Cross End Sub
This does not work but do not understand as to why this is. Visual basic 10 on Windows 7 SP1. dot net framework 4.5 Beta?
if its possible could i temporarily change the inner code of a program instead of using a timer or multiple buttons ex: i have a BUTTON1 set to open a webpage like [URL]how be able to do something like this
Private Sub BUTTON2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click if textbox1.text=1 then button1.code=me.close
I have an image that is using an indexed pixel format. I can't load such an image into a graphics object using loadimage. Ultimately, all I am trying to do is to overlay one bitmap onto a different one, neither of which will be visible for some time, if ever. That looks like it can be done fairly easily by loading the BMP into a graphics object, then drawing the other image onto it. However, that would require transforming the incoming image from an indexed pixel format to a non-indexed format.
