I have a Word macro that I want to run under Word 2003 and Word 2007. I would like to know if there is a way to check which version of Word is being used so that I can call different subroutines in the macro. Does anyone know how?
View 16 RepliesI have created a license system for my application with MySql about half a year ago. What it would do is take the serial number and send it to my server if the key was correct it would return a 0 if its wrong the return value would be a 1.The problem was that when the serial number was entered correctly my program would create a "fake file" for example vb.dll in the system.And on run time my program would check for that vb.dll if the file exist it would skip my trial program and run the app as a full version. Half year later i think creating a "fake file" and checking for it on start up is extremely wrong and that's not very good security.How can i check the difference between a full version and unregistered version?

View 1 RepliesI'm writing a macro to automate the process of attaching to the IIS worker process (w3wp.exe, Windows Server 2k8) from Visual Studio. The trouble is that I often two app pools running at any given time, one in x64 mode and one in x86 mode. This means there are two processes called w3wp.exe running at any given time, and the only way to distinguish between them is the mode they are running in. When I use the "Attach to Process" dialog, there is a "Type" column that shows that information so I know which w3wp.exe to attach to, but I can't figure out how to get that information in my macro.[code]....

On the last line I receive "could not open macro storage" error on deployed machines (not on my development machine).I develop with Windows 7 - Office 2010 - VS 2010 (.Net 3.5). My deployment machine is also a Windows 7 with Office 2010 installed.I tried to remove normal.dotm (I found some links advicing it) without success. The .dot template used contains no macro.
I would like to use Windows Scheduled Tasks to have a Word 2003 macro run automatically every week.I have automated an Excel 2003 macro by using Windows Scheduled Tasks and the Workbook_open event and was hoping to find somethings comparable to automated execution of the Word macro.I then start Excel by running a .BAT file from Windows Scheduled Tasks which in turn executes the workbook.xls file created above whic starts Excel, and runs whatever routines I called in the above .xls macro.

I am trying to check each letter of a word if that word doesn't contain (AEIOUY) then I have to append (-way) to the end of the word. Now I have this if statement and it doesn't work:

I am writing my first application in VB 2008 Express with .NET Framework versions 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 installed. When completed, I assume the application will need to check whether it is running under .NET Framework version 3.5 or later. I have not found any properties that I could get which would give me this information about the environment in which the application is running. Is this something that the non-user code in which my application is wrapped by the IDE checks, or is it something that I have to check myself within the application ? If the latter, how would I do that ?

I understand the System.Environment.OSVersion.Version.Major/Minor/Build but I have a number of Vista Systems, some x86 and some x64. A mixture of Home/Business/Ultimate. I have developed a small application in VB.NET 2008. It uses .net framework 3.5. But somehow it also runs in computers with .net framework 2 or 2.5. Is there a way to determine thru code what is the latest version of .net framework the pc is running. This way I can give a warning message box that the required framework is not installed.

View 2 RepliesI'm have a program (GUI) that interfaces with excel to execute macros. We're using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to call/run the macros and this works great.What I can't figure out is a good way to cancel the macros from the GUI.One idea we had was to use the excel.application variable that runs the macros to write a "stop" value to a specific cell in the workbook, and in the macros (they are all mostly loops), check for the "stop" value in that cell. This crashes my GUI with this The program '[2188] BVLReports.vshost.exe: Managed' has exited with code -336589910 (0xebf00baa).And excel gets tied up, and won't respond. I know how to Exit Sub from within the macro if the "stop" value exists, so I don't need answers on how to check/cancel from inside the macro. Any ideas on a better way to write this "stop" value or a better way to cancel the macros externally?
