I am reading sums of columns of various tables I started receiving Specified Cast is not found.t appears to happen when the table has no values; so, I started checking for reader.HasRows When checking for Sum, it
evidently gives rows. How do I avoid the error when there are no records.

I'd like to take all suggestion either in C# or VB.NET.I have a DB diagram like the image below. I also include the database script here [URL]In the Students table, CountryId and RoomId column are allowed null. Because some records do not have info about room and country yet.Also, some students do not have essays.I'm doing a joint query with all tables. I want to select all students to project the result like this:Wanted query result.
Here's my current query that gives the result like the image below:

with vb.net + access 2007 i am having a access database with about 4 lakh + records the table is having a Autonumber field + other fields like crewID, dutyDate,DutyOn,DutyOff,Dutytype,allowanceOftheDay.... etc

Sometimes it runs correctly and sometimes even though when i becomes greater than (dt.columns.count - 1), it still executes the for loop and throws an error that there is no column with that index. I must be missing something here but I'm not able to debug the issue.

I'm trying to build a new customer data entry page for a db project. One of the features I would like to add is a way to check and see if there have been any new records that have been added that haven't been explicitly saved to the db. If so, when the form_closing events fires I want to evaluate whether or not new entries have been made that weren't saved, and then count the number of rows that haven't been saved.

My goal is to connect to my database either manually or using an sqladapater, and get information from two of my databases on sql server 2005. Then I want to take this information and on run-time begin to add/subtract/divide/multiply certain columns and place the information into other columns. I have a datatable property called prpParametersTable in a class called clsBatch. I have a procedure that sets a datatable variable called dtP equal to prpParametersTable at the beginning of the procedure. I then add three new columns to dtP.Here is my problem. When I add the three new columns to dtP my original table prpParametersTable also gets those columns added to it, why? I only want to add the three columns to dtP and not prpParametersTable. How can I do that?

I have a dataset containing 2 tables,Customers and Contacts. Just showing the master-detail is not a problem. Problem occurs when I try to search the master table to bring in the detail table. Searching the master table shows only the master record, but not the related detail records. Adding a 'findby' query on the detail table only shows the records.url.. Normally when the master table is filled, the detail record shows in a form.

I have a database with 3 tables: Student, Unavailability and Duty.The fields for Student are entered in a form I have. One of the fields in Unavailability is filled by a form, the other fields are an autonumber and a foreign key to the Student table.ow I want records in the Duty table to be created and automatically filled in depending on what the values of the fields are in the Student table.For example, If the Boarder field in the Student table is 'yes' then I want the Duty Number field in the Duty table to be '1', '3' and '4'. If it is 'no' then I want the value to be '2' and '5'. I recognize it will have to create several different records to incorporate the different duty numbers for each StudentID. Obviously this will require an if statement, however this is my first time implementing a database with my limited experience with programming and Visual Basic, so I don't know how to refer to the specific fields in a table and set the value of other fields depending on the data in other fields.

I have Dataset ds filled up with values Until now I was displaying values in GridView. Now I want that all the rows should be columns and columns should be rows.I have 2 options: Either 1 I can directly convert grid to columns and display it, or 2 I can convert the GridView to html and then write loops to convert. I was trying the 2nd option but I cant figure out how I should do that.[code]With this code I am still getting same as GridView. Please help me for converting rows to columns and vice versa.
