Dec 5, 2010Create a class to deal with records from the Classes table, much like the Student class we created in Lecture #17 handles Students records. The name of the class should be Ualb_Class (note we cannot use Class, as it is a reserved word in VBA). All of the fields should have corresponding properties. There are few considerations:
The class (course) code, department code, and course number are set at Initialize, so there is only a Get property method for those
The property for Meeting Day only accepts one of the values defined in the table. You can decide whether to accept an integer value or a string value of the days represented.
You are also to code the Initialize method, much like we coded the Initialize method for the Student class in Lecture #17. In the Initialize method, you will use the InputBox function to obtain the department code and course number. use a different InputBox for each value, so you don't have to mess with separating the single text value returned from that function. The Course Code will be obtained by using a function that has already been created, called GetNewCourseID. It has no parameters.

Mar 2, 2012I have a class that represents the table of a db-row. Its properties are the columns of the table. I add a new row to the table with the following code:

That is just an example, but my classes have around 30-40 properties and this brings a very large and complex sql string. Creating, editing or maintaining these sql strings for many classes could generate errors. I am wondering if any compact way or method exists in order to add the whole object's istance (the properties of course) to the table "TestTable" without writing such a large sql string. I created the TestRow in the way that its properties are exactly the columns of the table "TestTable" (with the same name). But I did not found in the ADO.NET anything that could be used.

Databound Radio Button Class When Database Table Empty
Apr 13, 2009The problem I have is that many times, the dataset that this control is bound to is empty. Therefore, the user continuously gets an error saying that one or more fields is missing. When I debug the code, I can see the code in the class loop through all of the radio button controls on the form. Since none of them match the field from the database, the code throws the error. I assume the code expects a match.
Should I modify the class to handle the case when there is a DBNull value? If so, what would be the best method? Or should I approach this situation in a completely different manner?

Jun 9, 2012In entity framework we can use 3 approaches model first , code first , database first but each one of them needs manual hand touch(means creating database or create model or write the POCO class codes or entity class codes) before proceeding to the next step ( using EF in context ).What if I want to create database and tables and table relationships programatically and still want to have to features of EntityFramework 4.3.
To be more specific ,from this example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307283 we can create database , tables and everything using SQL command but we can't have the advantages of entity framework. So if we want to have that what should we do? To give the ability to create dynamic table fields those steps will not be sufficient. In all 3 steps database , table and table columns are fixed. There is no way that a user can create new tables or columns dynamically. http:[url].... in this post , it shows how to create manual db, tables and etc using SQL but it is based on ADO.NET but I want Entity Manager to do that.
