Ctrl+N Opens IE When Using WebBrowser's

Jun 30, 2010

I know the WebBrowser's use IE for the core, but no other IE shortcuts seem to work, other than the Ctrl+N (new window) one. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't open IE, and my opened own application, but it doesn't. Any way to prevent this or make it open a copy of my own browser, instead of IE?

Webbrowser.navigate Opens PDF In New Window?

Each time a new document is opened, a tab page is added to my tab control and the webbrowser control is added to it then I call the webbrowser.navigate function to open the file.In windows XP this worked great. However, when switching to Windows 7, it always wants to open the PDF using adobe reader in a new window.

Doc Opens In New IE Instance Not Web Browser Control?

Jan 18, 2009

I'm just starting to write a program to manipulate some intranet based databases using the web browser control, but have a problem with one specific database.I can log in from the start page of this database from my browser but it then opens in a new instance of IE (I think it's the java code (not java script) which does this when the page loads). How do I get it to open in my browser?OK, I can manipluate it with a doc object, but would prefer to do it in my browser for consistency, as the other databases open fine in my brower.I can't be more specific but could post the html text if necessary.Currently using the built in web control with VS2005 running on XP.

Aug 3, 2009

I am trying to autoselect pre-programmed items in a listbox when a form opens with the control on it.but i cannot find a proper method to select all the items in the listbox and hold the resulting text as a string that will later be saved to a text file. i do not need help with saving the text to file but rather selecting the items in the listbox.so, after alot of trial and error and no luck I think I am supposed to use

ListBox.ObjectCollection

propriety. but i have no clue whats so ever in how to manage to select all the items in the listbox when this form opens...if this does not make sence then I will rephraze it.

Visual Basic.Net - OpenFileDialog Control - Initial Directory Property?

Dec 13, 2011

I am working on an assignment, so need to pass the file to the instructor. I thought I remembered a way to input a placeholder character(s) that tells the computer that the path is flexible until the point where I declare the actual path.

For example: if the directory is C:documentsMyProjectinDebug on my machine, and is F:usersownerclass assignmentscis101StudentAMyProjectinDebug on the instructor's machine, can I put a "wildcard" type of character that points to the ...MyProjectinDebug file that will work on both machines in the Initial Directory property?

Different Webbrowser Control - Web Based Apps Which Will Require A Webbrowser Extension

Aug 10, 2010

I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,

1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).

2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.

3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.

My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.

VS 2008 OpenFileDialog Control That Will Read A Text File Into Memory - When Select All Files *.* It Does Not Re Appear?

Apr 24, 2012

I am writing an application that will use a OpenFileDialog control that will read a text file into memory and later process it.

I do have the following filter: Text files (*.txt)|*.txt|CSV files (*.csv)|*.csv|Spaced Text files (*.prn)|*.prn|All files (*.*)|*.*"

When I navigate to my test folder that contains a single .txt file, I see that file. When I change the filter to *.cvs that files goes disappears because it has a .txt extension. That is good. But when I select All files *.* it does not re appear? Why and how do I make it appear.

Form With A Tab Control That Has 18 Pages - Click On A Tab It Opens The Page And Select A Textbox On That Page

Mar 8, 2009

I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

From HTML Content In A WebBrowser Control, Call Another Control?

Feb 20, 2010

I have a regular application form with a WebBrowser control.I have strung together a .htm file (from a regular text file) which I then assign to the WebBrowser control. In the html file, I have filenames mentioned.I am trying to string together the html in such a way as to give a clickable link or button that will parse into html and open the corresponding file in another WebBrowser control in VB.I have tried using VBScript and JavaScript to put a button in the html.As long as the function or sub I call is also in the same html document, it works, but I really need to transfer the control back into visual basic where I can do the heavy lifting I need to.can I just not do this as a regular VB application? Any way to do it without adding the complication of requiring ActiveX?

Use 32-bit WebBrowser Control In Any CPU WPF App?

Jun 24, 2011

I am writing a VB.Net WPF application that needs to display HTML content and websites. I am doing this using the webBrowser control. The application takes a significant performance hit running under x86 and I would really like to keep it set to Any-CPU. However the webBrowser controls need to be 32bit so they can run flash. So is there any way of achieving this? Running the 32-bit webBrowser in a 64bit process, or some alternative control that will manage this and allow me to load HTML from a string and a URL?

WebBrowser Control Does Not Do Same As IE?

Mar 4, 2010

I'm having an issue loading one of our work websites in a WebBrowser control. In IE, it works fine, but in the wb control, it does not seem to process correctly. There is a frame, "mainframe" which when you click "result", goes back to the "to do list". However, i get a blank page in the frame, and then when i hit refresh, it comes up with a scripted error "Page Already Sent" which i'm not sure what it is triggered by.The pages are JSP pages, and i don't know if that might have some effect, but i'm more confused as to why they would work perfectly in IE, and then not work in WebBrowser control.

When In Webbrowser Control?

I'm running a webbrowser control with a custom user agent.when I try to load google with it, there are a number of 'script errors' in the website, which I've hidden by setting 'Scripterrorssupressed' to true. Now however there is still an 'object error' which pops up when i try to load google.Every other website that I've tried loads fine, and when I click 'ok' google runs fine. I'm quite sure its something to do with google 'location services' trying to locate my browser, because it thinks its a cellphone (due to the custom user agent).
