Is there a way to override/modify/create the left-side shortcut buttons in the SaveFileDialog or OpenFileDialog controls? Defaults are "My Recent Documents", "Desktop", "My Documents", "My Computer", "My Network"... how would I change "My Recent Documents" to "My Super Cool Folder"?

Here's my code I've got so far - it incorporates the OpenFileDialog to open the file and the SaveFileDialog to save the file. When the code goes into the OpenFileDialog portion, it works great....the initial directory is set to "C:" This is where the user will select the file they want to save to another location.

This work fine and create default text files into Program Files Folder for winodw 7/vista .but can not modify these files or create any new files.There are few text files need to create ,modify during application running ,but in windows 7/vista unable to create,modify files.I am using full default admin right for these OS. If iuse C: root path then application work fine or for win XP no problem.I think UAC restricting to perform these opeartion. But i do not know how to change these restriction using vb.net, whenever application start.

I found one solution that , if change user rights manually then this problem solved.Follow these step to change your account settings.Control Panel-->User Accounts and Family Safety-->User Accounts-->Change User Account Control settings-->Never notify(Set tab to never notify).After this change need to restart system.Now can make all changes like windows XP into Windows 7.can also make changes into program files.
Its working fine, but need to make these changes manually in OS.but its not efficent solution. So if any one knows how can make these changes by coding that will nice.
how you can get the places bar-style interface in an OpenFileDialog window? So far (from what I've read) it appears that OFDs in XP have it by default, but in Vista and 7 they don't. So how can I get that OpenFileDialog interface backin Windows Vista/7? Or am I just mistaken and it's not a XP/Vista/7 problem at all and I'm missing a point?

View 2 RepliesI set up an Openfiledialog and put in an initial filename value (the last filename the user opened).However, when the dialog shows up, it is as if the filename has been scrolled off to the left.I only see about the last 10 characters of the name, even though the filename field is big enough to show the whole name.It is also selected, which is ok - it means if the user types a name the value will replace what I've put there, which is reasonable behavior.How do I control this 'scrolling'?I call it scrolling even though there is no scroll bar.If I click in the field and use the left arrow key I can back up to the beginning of the filename - the filename gradually shifts into view about 10 characters at a time, until I reach its beginning, at which time I see the entire filename in the filename field which is how I'd like to have things when the opendialog opens.

I would like to display 2 forms side by side. Frm1 will call Frm2. The problem is, if Frm1 is too near the edge of the computer screen, when Fr2 is shown, part of it will be outside the screen. How do I make it so that if Frm1 is near the right-side of the screen then Frm2 will show on the left-side of Frm1 and vise-versa?

I mean i can do this i can stick the form on the side but all other application are not seen in the full window coz my appz is still on the top and others appz under it.Size of the form is 200x1024, it is like administration stripe.So i would like to make other Winows in the system ended on the edge of my application. View 5 RepliesWell I've finally decided to upgrade some of my vb6 applications. Anyway I have two forms that are very similar one is customers one is vehicles. One of them is working on form load and one of them isn't. The one that isn't working I've traced the point it stops down to where there is a green line left of the code on the left bar of the development environment. This green line doesn't exist on the form that works. What the green line in this photo means? [URL].
Bigger Picture [URL]. I found a page that says the green simply means the code was saved but it's only on the form that stops working right after the execution of the sql statement. For some reason while stepping through the code it returns to the show command that was called to originally open the form right before the form opens but it skips everything with the green line next to it. I went and disabled tracking and it went away.

View 1 RepliesI just started using VS 2010. This product is supposed to be so much better than VS 2008 yet I'm noticing a couple of glaring things that are failures if you ask me.
1. When designing a Gridview, after having clicked on Edit Columns, in VS 2008 I could select the first field listed on the left side of the window, set a property--say headStyle-- and set the Horizontal Align to Left. Then if I clicked on the next field, that same property would still be selected on the right side of the window. In VS 2010, I have to go through finding the property and then expanding it and selecting it for each individual field. While it seems like a small thing, it's time consuming and kind of a pain. Is there some reason they couldn't have made it behave the same as in VS 2008?

Use the code that i provided at the end of this question to understand the scenario. As far as i know, this behaviour happens only on the myspace.com web site. 1. Navigate to your myspace.com inbox page, read a message and click on the reply button to reply to the message. The page will show correctly in the web browser.2. Then click on Button1, repeat the same process (read a message in the myspace.com inbox, click on the reply button), and the textboxes where you have to enter your reply will be gone.3. Then click on Button2, repeat the same process, and the page will show correctly in the web browser.4. Then comment out or remove the oDoc_MouseDown event, click on Button1, repeat the same process, and the page will show correctly.Why does the page shows correctly when the oDoc_MouseDown event is removed? The same behaviour happens if you use any other event of the oDoc variable.I desperately need the page on myspace to be shown correctly with the oDoc_MouseDown event and other events of the oDoc variable. I need to create a shared folder on the desktop for a specific user on a specific pc and assign full control sharing and security permissions for only tat user and a domain admin user. I need to do this for 300+ PCs. Going to each user manually and askin them if i can do tat on their pcs is very time consuming.
Is there a way i can code this and do this remotely where i can input,
1)the computer name/IP Address
2) the folder name i want to create
3) the user for which i have to create it for (just basically goin to doc and settin.>user name> desktop )

i generate a small HTML file on a hard disk, put the AxWebBrowser2 object navigate to the file, all works fine, but i need to diable all user interface on that object. If the user clicks on object, the page reloads completely and i need to avoid that behavior.
