How To Keep Owner Drawn List Box And Preview The Data From The SQL Database At The Same Time
Apr 23, 2009i have an owner drawn list box which is connected to a SQL database source. When the list box is owner drawn, my list box is filled with the text "System.Data.DataRowView". When i turn off owner drawn it works perfectly.
The problem is, i need it to be owner drawn as it is a crucial part of my program. Is there a way of keeping my owner drawn list box and preview the data from the SQL database at the same time? Here is my code for the owner drawn part, most of this is irrelevant, just mainly look at the bottom bit where i print the string, with the variable 's' and 'drawstring':[code...]

Dec 2, 2010I am trying to build a coordinates system but am having trouble with how to.. What I have sofar is a textbox that allows the user to enter a length. This length is user defined but never smaller then 610 in length since this is the minimum unit size we use to build timber frames. The overall length of a timber frame is infinite (well not really, but it is for what I want) the timber frame has beams every 610mm set apart from each other (this is a legal requirement) so I want my vb.net to set coordinates for each beam at intervals of 610 then write that coordinates system to a text based *.SCR file

Mouse Y coordinates increase from top to bottom while my grid's y value increase from bottom to top. Given my following code, I would need to create 21,500 separate conditional expression for 100(y) x 215(x) possible coordinate locations for my grid.

List Of Documents Stored On Database
May 5, 2009I have a requirement for a form where user can add a list of 'documents'. These could be word, excel, images etc... pretty much anything. They want a form where they use the openfiledialog to locate the document and then want the list of documents stored on a database.
However, when they view this form they want a preview of all of the listed documents and the ability to print them all. I was considering a datagrid view with image cells but how would I show a word document in there? Or, should I insist that they convert all documents to PDF's?

May 7, 2010Recently I have learned visual basic 2008 express edition and developed programs for data crunching and analysis. The VB 2008 express edition has microsoft visual studio 2008 v. 9.0.30729.1 SP and .NET Framework version 3.5 SP1. Now I want to create x-Y (date-Y value) graphs using the crunched data stored in an array list simulating a data base access. I download and installed the "Microsoft Chart Control for .NET Framework " and try to learn to use it within the VB 2008 express edition using the tutorial. It seems that the chart control did not get installed?
1. Do I need at VB 2008 professional to allow using the chart control?
2. Why after installing chart control, there is no change on the items under the NET components within the Toolbox>ChooseItem>.
3. How do I get to use the chart control under VB 2008 express edition.
4. Any code available to generate versatile graphics without using the chart control? Because the chart control has tons of classes already it seems the best is to just use the existing and downloadable chart control?

However, I want to change the width and height of the picture box so that the drawn graphics fit exactly in the picture box (during run time, where graphics may change). l1 is a Label. When I call this it draws the path fine, but when I call it again it draws another path but doesn't get rid of the first path. Basically, I only want one path on the Label at a time.

Mar 7, 2012When I populate a combobox with items that have a line and text drawn in the DrawItem event, only the line image for the first item in the list appears in the drop down portion of the combobox. The other items (index>0) shown in the drop down portion of the combobox do not contain an image of the line, yet each item in the list does contain the designated text. The correct line image does appear when the user selects an item and the drop down portion of the combobox is not visible. How can I get the line image to appear in every item of the combobox when the drop down list is activated?

Apr 19, 2009I have a radar which works by drawing monsters onto a paint panel, which can be made transparent so that only the drawn items are shown on screen, but when you mouse over the drawn items they are selectable so it disturbs the game, is there any way to set the drawn items so that they cannot be selected? basically ignored by the mouse cursor.

Determine If Mouse Hovers Over A Drawn Line?
Apr 26, 2011I'm creating a type of drawing program. The user can draw a line, much like in word or paint, etc. But once the line is drawn (to a picturebox or bitmap in memory), I want the user to be able to click on the line and drag it around (translate it).
If I know the coordinates of the endpoints of the line, as well as the pen width it was drawn with, how can I tell if a certain coordinate (mouse location) is contained by the line?
My first thought was to take a mathematical approach, like get an equation for a line, and check to see if the coordinate belonged to it. But for a higher pen width, the line is thicker, and thus contains more points.
How can I tell what coordinates are part of the line? Is there some sort of intersect function in the gdi that takes a line?
