Create A Video Of The Use Of An Application?
Jun 11, 2010I have spent several weeks (off and on) trying to find out how to record a movie of the desktop when I'm using my application. For now I'm using prtsc, but that's kinda slow.

Any ways to capture streaming video from, say, a webcam? I have still images down pat, already made a couple different progs with that. Now looking for ideas on how to go about capturing actual video....
All that I have searched have brought be to DirectX, with DirectShow. Is there a different way? Every DirectX SDK I seem to download has everything but DirectShow (and with dialup, usually, when I say "Download" I mean, "installed it from a cd with the files downloaded by a friend on it" ).
there are a number of sources (ONE, TWO and THREE) which show how to use VB6 to create a video file from BMPs?

View 2 RepliesHow to Create Video Games in VB.Net
I realize that this is a very popular subject, especially amongst budding developers. The drive to create games may be the reason you started working with Visual Basic in the first place. After stepping through a few samples and getting the hang of working with user controls on a form, it may be very tempting to start to throw some PictureBoxes and a Timer on a Form and start to implement some game logic. Seems easy enough, right?
To some extent, this is a true statement. You could start to do this and it would be easy enough¦ at first. But when you begin to try to calculate collision and animate or rotate your sprites, you may start to run into some difficulty. And attempts to circumvent the problems often lead to even worse issues. This can cause an endless spiral of misery which could leave you thinking VB just isnt meant to make games!
The initial problem that most people face is the desire to use a PictureBox (or any other control) as the logical Sprite¯ container for the elements in the game. It makes sense since the control appears to provide a lot of the required functionality already and its easy to extend it with more properties as needed.
The issue though is that Windows Forms Controls are designed to be drawn statically“ that is, they arent meant to move around in real-time. You can of course move them at run-time, but this is normally an on-demand operation (something which occurs because the user just took an action like clicking a button or menu item). Attempting to move controls in real-time puts a heavy strain on your application and can cause poor performance quickly.[code]....
There is an IP web camera that I wrote a .NET class for sometime ago. It's basically a Timer implementation that pings a snapshot CGI script from the camera every five seconds. The camera itself is very rudamentary; it does not have any sort of API for me to work with, the only thing I can do programmatically (remotely) is invoke this script. The script returns a 640x480 JPEG image. Simple.
Now what I need to be able to do is take a days worth of these images, and create a "time lapse" AVI video stream out of it that will eventually be embedded into a web page. How can I do this with VB.NET?
I have been researching how to create a multimedia sound/video converter
View 1 RepliesI want to create a RTSP/h264 video stream from static images, and incorporate it into my .NET application. So far I have found two possible ways to do this:
Use ffmpeg/ffserver, but I would need to compile ffserver on windows and then rely on it... and I don't necessarily want to rely on an external application
Use the LIVE555 [URL] library, but they do not have any .NET libraries, so I would need to spend some effort to make it work with the rest of my .NET application.
Can you comment on either #1, #2, or which is better. Is there a faster way to bring up a RTSP server in .NET? I do not mind putting in development time if there is a solid solution that takes time, but it would be good to have something we can work with fast, for prototyping and demos.

I want to know how to make my own video player in the dll class library. The methods that I want to create is to make the size frame border, make the size of the video screen, control to improve the video quality, enable contextmenu anywhere, controls the video like play, pause, stop.....etc. Are there is possible to create my own video player in the dll class library?
I wish to use the flash player but I can't control them by make the size of the frame border, disabled the flash menu and replace with contextmenu, control to improve the video quality, apply to change the skins.....etc

I have a program that reads and displays a file as an annimation and I want the user to be able to turn it into and AVI (or other video format). I certainly know there are Screen Capture programs that will captured the video from the screen, but I
have seen an app that creates the video in the background. The user selects the file, and without sending anything to the screen it creates the video.
how this done or where to start? Or if there is an addon app that will do this?
I'm using VB 2005, and am hoping to have streaming video to my application with some sort of video analysis. Right now as a test, I have an axWindowsMediaPlayer control playing a video from a URL. I'm figuring I need to be able to detect the colors of the pixels in the video for simple analysis, but I haven't been able to do this yet. I've been able to view the pixel colors in every area of the screen except for the media player window (just shows up black, as if you were to make a screenshot of the media player video). Is this at all possible to do?

View 6 RepliesI am very new to this whole programming thing and I have read several books and many websites but I can't get a good start on creating a video poker game. I understand that I need to create classes, but have no idea how to start. Most of the things I have been reading have been for Visual Basic 6.0 and it appears hard to understand. I am looking for some type of tutorial of how to create the classes I need and how to get the actual information from the classes into my form. Can anyone out there provide me with a good starting point? Is there any good (and easy) code out there to get me started. I feel that if I can get a good starting base, I can learn from there.

I want to integrate to my application a process to capture the audio and video from a specific area of the screen and save it in a .wmv or .avi file.
I already have Microsoft.Expression.Encoder on my computer but I dont know how to integrate the tool to my project.
I'm working on creating a web application which is going to allow the user to upload a video file to the server. Once the file is uploaded to the server, it's going to be converted to .flv and copied to another folder in the same directory. Since I'm doing this from a web app, I don't want to tie up the app with the conversion process. That is when I figured this might be a good time to try threading the conversion process... what do you think?
Currently, my process logic is this:
1) User presses the upload button.
2) A dummy record is created in the database for the file being uploaded.
3) Folders are created on the server to house the original video file and the converted video file.
4) The original is copied to the server.
5) Once the original is finished being copied, the app converts the original to .flv and saves it in another folder.
6) Information about the conversion process is stored in a .xml file
7) The dummy record is updated with real data
8) There is a redirect to a page that lets the user view the .flv file on the web
I am trying to make a telnet application to communicate with a special video player I have, I have gotten the telnet session to connect to the video player (server) but it won't respond back....I think the problem might be with the coding...the strData string below is supposed to be the replies I get back from the server, but it won't show any strings on the screen.

I have a vb.net project which i have inserted pictures and video. I inserted a video clip using the Windows Media Player control and it does work. The issue i have is that i can't move the program to another computer because the pathname for the video will be wrong. I know i could change the pathname when i move it but this is not practical because i need to present this program. Does anybody know how to make the video accessible no matter what location the program is at?
View 6 RepliesI am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.
