Create A Calculator, Which Can Accept Numeric Keyboard?
May 2, 2010
I am trying to create a calculator, which can accept numeric keyboard imput, as well as button clicks, and display the number in a label.
Why does the numeric keyboard input work in this instance
Public Class Form1
Sub Form1_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As KeyPressEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyPress
[Code].....
Even if I press a keyboard number before pressing the button(so there is no need to clear the label if the button is pressed first etc), the number is not displayed in the label. And even if I completely comment out the code for the button-click, the keypress event still does not display the number in the label. It is as if just having the code for the button completely disables the keypress.

I am looking into data validation as I need a way of setting a textbox to only accept numeric values. I have had a search for this and it doesn't seem as straight forward as I had hoped.
I have found a couple of possible methods, although the sites which I found them where very unclear on how they actually work. I feel strongly that I should know how all of my own programs work >_>
I have no actually got this to work with my program yet. Are there better methods than this?
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyPress
Dim allowedChars As String = "0123456789$,"
[Code].....

I am having trouble getting the numeric keypad on my keyboard to work with my calculator. btn0 - btn9 are working, but the numeric keys +,_,*,/ are not working. They input the sign into the text box instead of clicking the button associated with the function on the calculator. I would like to be able to use the calculator as a 10 key adding machine of sorts. I am creating a DIY calculator.The one in W7, I can't hardly see. Mine is much simpler and larger.I currently have buttons for numeric 0 - 9, Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Clear, Enter, and Decimal Point.There is a label at the top with displays results.If I use my mouse to select the buttons, then everything works okay. However, if I use the keyboard, I get strange results.I thought it may have been my old keyboard so I changed it.No difference.If it's not in the hardware, then it's in the code.The section below is what I have for keyboard use:
Private Sub Form1_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyPress
Ch = e.KeyChar
Select Case Ch[code]....
For each of these, there is a corresponding Button_Click even farther down in the code. Since the mouse click on the buttons on the form works properly, the problem must be above. I can't see it.

Sub Button1Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)
Process.Start("Q:INTRALINK_config_prod.bat")' TODO: Implement Button1Click' TODO: Implement Button1Click

Description of Program/Events. I would like to come up with a number generator that takes the Total number (for this example I'll say 20), divides it by 2, and does alternating additions so the end result will generate a list like this:
1, 11, 2, 12, 3, 13, 4, 14, 5, 15, 6, 16, 7, 17, 8, 18, 9, 19, 10, 20.
I can understand the arithmetic, just can't work out how to express this in code. The end result would be save in a .Txt file (I have added a SaveFileDialog1 control, but figure I need to get the result before I work on the export).
Dim StartValue As Integer
Dim EndValue As Integer
Dim TotalValue As Integer
' Convert input to numeric variables.
StartValue = Val(StartNumTextBox.Text)
[Code] .....

I'm new in the programming area and I'm having trouble making a calculator. My question is: How do I make the calculator work using only the keyboard, without the need of mouse.
I tried this:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
Me.KeyPreview = True
End Sub
Private Sub FlowLayoutPanel1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e
As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles RESULTADO.KeyDown
If e.KeyCode = Keys.NumPad0 Then
[Code] .....
It only works on the text box called Result. I want to know how do I make work in the whole Class, and if it is possible, to make it work on two different Classes without writing twice the same code.

I am writing a calculator app in VB Express 2008. I'm trying to get the app to accept numeric and operator input while ignoring all the alpha input. In other words taking input from the numeric keypad and the top of the keyboard and ignoring all the letters.
Here's the block of code I have so far:
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyDown(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyDown
If (e.KeyCode >= Keys.D0 OrElse e.KeyCode >= Keys.NumPad0) And (e.KeyCode <= Keys.D9 OrElse e.KeyCode <= Keys.NumPad9) Then
Select Case e.KeyCode
[code]....
I can't get vb to recognize the above code it seems to skip right over it. BTW, is 'Keys.Crsel' the same as the caret '^' symbol?

I need to create a control for input a currecncies to a field. I'm planning to use a Textbox.
This is the format of the text box for currencies:
"XXXXXXXX.XX"
the dot "." must be fixed in the textbox and it should be loaded with the textbox. Furthermroe i have plans to code eachtime a user enters a number it should print the numbers from Right ot left.
eg: When user enters Number 1234.34
When the user enter these number they should display them as:
when user enters 1
0000.01
when the user enters 2:
0000.12
when the user enter 3:0001.23
When the user enters 4:
0012.34
When the user enters 3:0123.43
When the user enters 4:(after entering all digits in the number)1234.34
Could any one give a couple of ideas how to creat these kind of boxes?

I'm taking an introductory programming course, and am completely flummoxed as to what I'm doing wrong with my program. The problem seems to be in my arithmetic, as the program runs fine; it just doesn't produce the correct result when compared to the professor's control model.
I need to create a mortgage calculator, using the following formula: monthly payment = interest rate * loan amount * ( (1+ interest rate) ^ months) / ((1+interest rate)^months)-1) )
We have to use that formula, no other one. If anyone can spot an error in my code, please let me know what I've done wrong!
The code I've written is as follows:

I am creating a "form1" and adding "WebBrowser1" . Let's say the URL that I put on the WebBrowser1 has a username and password. So that, this will require a on screen keyboard in order to type the username and password. In this case, I do not want to use external OSK (on screen keyboard), what I want is to create some numerik numbers or letters on my form1 with buttons and then type it on the URL.

My touch screen keyboard is highly customizable interface and has every component I need except for sending keys, anyone see a problem with this. Originally when I was creating it I was going to use the Forms.SendKeys.Send() but it's a WPF application... no go. For starters VB.Net in its infinite wisdom decided it would not handle default form messages. Go figure.
Or perhaps, this is my real problem, I can't get the WPF application to stop getting focus. I want it to act like the windows touch keyboard, but Every action that occurs in the transparent WPF makes that application the active one. I want events to still occur but I need the active window to be the window you wish to type into, like notepad.
Any Suggestions on what I should do, to make my WPF not focusable and to send keyboard buttons to the focused (or other) window? PS, I'm using WPF in Visual Studio 2010 in Vb.Net (I can use C# Code to!)
