Create A File Upload Client?

I want to create a file upload client for [URL] and I wanted to know if it is possible to make an application that lets you select a file from your hard drive, press an upload button and then the app will process it just like the website processes the file when you use a browser.Also I want the app to display the progress bar that the website displays when you upload, and when it's done, it has to get the URL for the uploaded file and display it in a textbox.

I want to create a page that allows a user to upload a file directly to my ftp server. For some reason when I run the code and try to upload a file I get:
ERROR: Could not find file 'C:Documents and SettingsuserMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsASP.NETuploadASP.NETuploadfile.txt This is not where the file is located. I am fairly new to .NET programming so I may have done some things incorrectly.

I'm creating a reporting web page as part of a standard VB.NET web application. The page is data driven, with jquery making calls to a web service local to the application to get values of elements that are dynamically created in the DOM. Ultimately these dynamic elements and their values are all wrapped up in a JSON object, so that part of the client side is fine.
Right now, I can pass that JSON object to a method in the web service which creates an SQL Data adapter from the values and queries a database. My ultimate goal is to have this client JSON data be used to query the database and construct an excel file to send back to the user, or failing that a CSV file.
It's my understanding (from working with PDF file generation) that this type of function can only be done on the server side of the web application, not even from the web service (i.e. I can't have the web service return an array of bytes and have JavaScript/jQuery present that as a file).
So, how do I go about this? Now I have my JSON object on the client side, where should I be sending it, how, and how do I go about returning my file?
I've read about either storing the JSON in a hidden field and having the server take the elements value and go from there, or using AJAX to send the JSON to the server just before a postback is made to fire off the server-side function to run the query and return the data.
I just need a little guidance, and a little help understanding where to use the hidden field, or what I am actually doing with the pre-postback AJAX call.

Basically i am creating a console application that will create and store client information as a .txt file it is going okay but i have come across a slight hick up i want to use something on the lines of this .....

this works fine to trap out numbers from letters but the problem i am getting is when the program calls uppon LastName it is recording 0 and wanted to know if there is a way of getting past this ..... so basically i need a way to allow letter but not numbers and symbols and then dispay a pernolised error message but at the same time use Stream writer to save was the answer is in a .txt file.

I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.

How do I upload the client's image file and display it in the web form's image control?How do I save it to the sqlserver? The image table is already set up with a "Image" data type column. Can the image be saved to the database as simply as other data types?

first i create 1 form, 1 picture box and 1 button..
i name button like upload...when i click upload button, i can browse picture..so after i click a picture,automaticly picture will set in picture box and 1 folder like mypicture will be create on C:// and that picture will be transfer into mypicture folder..

Right now I am using the simple my.computer.network.uploadfile(fileToUpload,mNetLocation, user,pass) to upload my files to the ftp server but nothing I see will create a folder on the ftp server, how can I do this?
I created some directories myself because I can predict what the directory names were going to be, but the other directories need to be created on the fly & are basically random, how can I go about creating the folder I need so I can use the method I already do to upload the files into that folder?I figured maybe it'd work, maybe the FTP server would resolve & add the directory itself when I tried to upload, but instead it failed saying it doesn't exist & forces me to create the directories manually.

I'm running an FTP Server using Golder FTP Server, which is freeware. I think it's setup correctly because connecting to the FTP Server using the exact same string as above using Windows Explorer works great.

I'm wanting to create a control that allows users to upload PDF files and PDF files only. I know that there are object properties for windows forms that allow certain file types, is there anything for win apps? Or do you just have to check the end file extension after they tried to upload it and display an error? I've never done anything with web app uploading before.

Alright here's my situation: I have a form. This is a very small form that can be moved with the mouse (formborderstyle=none). The transparencyKey is 0,0,1. The form back color is 0,0,1. There is a label on the form. I drag files to this label(its backcolor is black[0,0,0]). What I want is for the filesize to be checked. I already have the uploading to ftpcode, I just want to know if the file is above my limit I set. (250mb per file)

I am wondering if anyone has a tutorial or source code to help me get started with creating a IRC Client that will connect to a IRC Server. I just want to make a pretty GUI to modernize it a bit and add some more features etc purely for educational reasons & because I need a new project.

The chat will get the username from the config.ini file. Since multiple people will be using this, I will be hosting the server part of the chat on a windows 2008 server.

I have been a web developer for a number of years now and I am making the move over to form based applications. I am trying to do what I believe should be relatively simple, yet I have no idea where to start.At home I have a machine that family members tend to use P2P programs, which causes my online gaming to suffer with glitches.I want to create a server and client program.where the client app (on my laptop) consists of only one button, when the button is pressed I want the server app (my Desktop) to kill the P2P program.I already know how to kill/start the application in question.I have previously done something similar but I had used winsock (not in VS2010) and was a long time ago.

I'm trying to connect to Advosol OPC UA demo server [URL] from vb.net application I'm developing, but i can not create refernece to its service interface. As much as I understand UA specification, server is based on WCF and shold expose WSDL to create web reference to it. The problem is that I can not access that WSDL definition on service url. The only message I get is that MEX is disabled for service and list of instructions how to expose mex in appconfig. I triead all the suggestions, but mex is still disabled.

I am trying to create a server/client program in vb.net. What I am trying to do is test a battery that is running on a handheld (which runs Windows CE 5) by connecting to a "server" and sending information every 10 seconds or so. I am very new to .NET, and am not really sure how to go about doing this. I want two separate applications running, with the server-side keeping all of the data, since the battery is going to die, and I will lose any information if I keep it client-side. I am also new to networking, so I was not sure of whether I should create a Socket, or if I should try to do something else.
