Createwindowex To Create A Button On An External Window

May 3, 2009

I'm using createwindowex to create a button on an external window. I can use Spy++ to see all of the messages the button is sending to the parent window. The problem I'm having is catching these messages from the parent window.I've been trying a lot of different methods, and just when I think one is working, something still isn't quite right. Right now, I am using a hook dll made with c#, and it seems to be working somewhat. It seems like it is a lot more than should be needed for what I'm doing.I originally thought I could just use wndproc to catch all of the messages, but I found that it doesn't catch external windows messages(unless i'm doing something wrong).Is there anyone that can point me in the right direction to create a button on an external window, then catch the messages when it is clicked.

How To Create Dialog Box That Only Affects The Current MDI Window

Jun 8, 2011

I am working on an app that is an MDI. When the user clicks a button on an MDI child, I want to "disable" the current MDI child (and only the current child window), open a new window that has control, and then re-enable the child window when the new window is closed...very similar to using showDialog(). The thing I an having trouble figuring out is how to allow the other child windows to be active at the same time as when the new window is open. If I use the showDialog(), all child windows are disabled

Create An Enumeration For Colors In Window Forms Application?

Jun 21, 2009

I am building a simple windows form (using VB.NET) for a friend to use at work. His company has about 10 specific colors schemes (they have list of RGB values) that they use for the company logo, website etc.

I want to follow this color scheme in my application and, to simplify development, would like to build an enumeration of these colors to avoid hard coding the RBG value for every label, panel etc.

My initial thought was to do the following:

Enum ColorTypes
CompanyDarkBlue = Color.FromArgB(0,56,147)
CompanyBlue = Color.FromArgB(0,111,198)
CompanyLightBlue = Color.FromArgB(0,145,201)
End Enum

However, it's not that simple as a constant is required. I looked around on the internet and I found an example of how to achieve what I need but it seemed inordinately complicated for what seems like quite a common requirement for application development.

Create Dynamic Html File From Code Behind And Open In A New Window

May 23, 2012

I'm letting my users write their own HTML from my webpage. When they click the preview button, my code behind needs access to controls on the page (and so I understand I can't use a web method here). It builds the HTML and saves it as a file on the server. My question is: Once the file has been made, I want to automatically open the file in a new window for the user to see their handy work. I'm using vb.net, but happy to receive c# answers.

Find The Handle Of The Child Window For The Yes Button In The User Account Control Window?

Mar 20, 2010

I am trying to find the handle of the child window for the Yes button in the User Account Control window so i can click it. This window has a structure with a few child windows with the same name.

Dim hwnd As IntPtr = FindWindow(Nothing, "User Account Control")
Dim hwnd2 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd, 0, "DirectUIHWND", vbNullString)
Dim hwnd3 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd2, 0, "CtrlNotifySink", vbNullString)
Dim hwnd4 As IntPtr = FindWindowEx(hwnd3, 0, "Button", "&Yes")

There are multiple CtrNotifySink with its own Button child window or other child windows. How do i search thru the different CtrNotifySink window to find the one that contain the Yes button so i can send a click to it? I do need to find it before i can send a click, right? because i try just sending it to the main window with sendmessage and nothing happen.I even try sending it directly to the handle found by spy++ of the yes button with bm click but nothing happen?

The thing is that the CaptureBufferDescription structure does not include a GlobalFocus property so I don't know what to do to let my application continue capturing when the main window is hidden.

Here's the basic initialization code I'm using:

ClipCursor To Lock A Mouse In A Window / How To Detect Height Of Window's Title Bar

Nov 24, 2010

border of that said window so the only place the mouse can't click the titlebar and the minimize,restore, and maximize button. The height of the titlebar depends on what OS the user is using so I'm having trouble because I can't give a definite value for this. How do I detect the height. and also for border i'm not sure if the borders have different widths with different operating systems. I'm using windows XP on classic mode, when I change to the themed mode, the height of the title bar changes so it won't work.
