Nov 24, 2010border of that said window so the only place the mouse can't click the titlebar and the minimize,restore, and maximize button. The height of the titlebar depends on what OS the user is using so I'm having trouble because I can't give a definite value for this. How do I detect the height. and also for border i'm not sure if the borders have different widths with different operating systems. I'm using windows XP on classic mode, when I change to the themed mode, the height of the title bar changes so it won't work.

Jan 31, 2011I am looking to prompt the user to save data when they close a form window in a winforms application. I can't figure out how to trigger the prompt to the user, should they click the red box at the top right corner of the form.
My application currently has a boolean flag, that is set to True on textchanged event. So I will only need to check for the boolean value in whatever event is trigger by the red box.

However, I do not have the slightest cluse as to how I can add this same functionality to the window so that if the user clicks the X in the upper right corner, there is a prompt message confirming the user needs to exit.I added a form closing event but getting wrong results, the form closes if I click no and message window does not leave when I click yes to stay.

Jul 14, 2012I'm in the process of converting a VB6.0 application to VB.Net (2008 Express). I have a MDI parent form, I'll call mdiBackground, and 4 MDI child forms, frmStatus, frmShow, frmQwerty, and frmSentence.The layout is as follows:mdibackground - has the menus at top and is a container for the child forms.frmSentence - appears at the top frmShow & frmQwerty - appear at the left and when one is closed the other one is in the same position.frmStatus - appears at the right, it has buttons which control when frmShow and frmQwerty are to appear I have a couple of regular forms that act as dialog forms. The Me.Close() works fine on these.

But when i call the function, I'm not using any window form and it's just called from another class. So what value i should put for that argument?Here's the example of that function:
AVS_Measure (device_handle, form_handle, no_measurement)
After this function has been called, it will send message to the form_handle argument whether the measurement data is available and valid.I called this function from another class just for triggering start measurement and i have another function to retrieve the data. I made an an app that runs up and shows me its window handles.. my other app can find the one textbox and return the handle.. now I just have no clue how to send the message correct to make my string pop up. Do I need just the handle ? or do I need to get the handle of the text property using the getdlgitem ??

Focusing Window With Unknown Title?
Mar 27, 2012I'm trying to focus and bring a window with an unknown caption/title to the front. The window is in a clinical application that we use, so I don't think there's any way I can do it inside the framework, as we get this application from a vendor. The window will always start with "Member - ". I have code below that I have used in the past to find a window and focus it when I know exactly what the title is.. but in this case I don't know what the title is. Does anyone know of another API call that I can use to search through all windows and compare their titles as text to see if any of them match the text I'm trying to compare with?
