I'd like to create a visual 2 dimensional grid (x,y) which contains an array of booleans that I could refer to by the 'coordinates' of the grid, and could actually SEE the grid on a form and work with it. for example:
If grid(10,20) = True Then Show(BlackSpot, grid(10,20))
when the user clicks on the add button another form launches, which enables the user to add student info such as name, address, course, start date and end date, this information is then written to class when the ok button on that form is clicked, and then displays the data on the initial form in data grid. the user can add multiple entries and they are all displayed on the intial form and a the data grid is populatedwhen any of the rows in the displayed grid is selected, and the update button is clicked then the same form launches as the previous one and but this time its in the update mode and pre populates the form with the inital values.

I have to create a program that will take in info from the user, then spit out the poker hand that they are holding. For instance, the user will type in 1 for ace, 2 for 2, 3 for 3......10 for 10, 11 for Jack, and then in the next column type in C for Clubs, S for Spades.. and so on. I have a FlexGrid control in my Windows application that contains a row of data. The data in this row is related to even more data that won't all fit on the same row. For Example:The main data row contains Username, Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, E-mail Address, Phone Number, etcA secondary row to this might contain user permissions to certain resources, such as File Server Access, FTP Access, Remote Access, etc.Now, I can use the subtotal and outline capabilities of the VSFlexGrid to make a second row, but the column widths are still bound by those set for the main data row. Additionally, I can't put real "headers" on the supplemental data. I have to fake it by creating an additional row, setting the background color of that row to gray, putting the header strings into those fields, and then adding the next row with the actual details.
What I would like to do is create separate grids for these secondary rows and "embed" them in a blank row of the existing FlexGrid control directly under the related main data row. This would give me the ability to use a different number of columns, to format these columns independently of the "parent" FlexGrid settings, as well as put a new header row for the new grid that identifies its data.In other words, I'd like to somehow make a "child" grid that's related to a particular row of the "parent" grid (not the entire grid itself). I don't know if this is possible, and if there is another way for me to accomplish this goal, I'm all ears. However, if it IS possible, I'd love some advice on how to implement it.

JM Sales employs 8 salespeople. The sales manager wants an application that allows him to enter a bonus rate. The application should use the rate, along with the 8 salespeople, in an array, to calculate each salesperson's bonus amount. The application should display each salesperson's number (1 through 8) and bonus amount. as well as the total bonus paid, in the interface.
I did the interface that's not a problem. My problem is the Create Report code. I had the program running and displaying but it didn't display all eight bonuses or the Bonus and Total Bonus paid at the end. I did some tweaking and now I can't even get it to run again. I am new to VB, trying to create a tic-tac-toe game but none of the tic-tac-toe tutorials use 2 dimensional arrays. Since tic-tac toe is 3x3 I created 9 buttons and want either an X or an O to appear depending on where the user clicks. I want one set of instructions to handle the multiple buttons. I was told to use Case statements.

I need to create a questionnaire with ten questions. The questions can be hard coded as labels. I will have a radio group box for each question, with options, Always, Usually, Sometimes, Seldom and Never. View 13 RepliesI have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own

I am working on a windows application using microsoft visual studio 2003 editor in vb.net
In Page1 RMNNo will be generated automatically and it will ask the user to enter the number of items in Page2. So in next form, all the item details i want to enter. But i cant display the second screen multiple times, I decided to create a table at run time, the number of rows will change depending on the number of items entered by the user. But in the table we may have to get some of the values from the database and display as a combo box so that the user can select from the list. So i decided to use the editable data grid.
I have a Data Grid View pulling in rows of data from an Access Database. I would like to code it so that when a user double clicks on a row, a window opens with that particular row being opened.
In addition, I would like to code a button so that it does the same, that is open a window with the selected row data.
How can I get the selected row ID or other data in VB?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to accomplish is having a 20x20 pixel image show up multiple times as determined by the grid selected. To keep things simple, what I'm trying to do is create a 9x9 grid of a image onto a form. I'm assuming that a picture box is the way to go, but don't know how to make that happen or if it's even possible.
So it would go something like this:

But instead of using a text box with values, I want to show a grid of a small image file, like cup.png which is 20x20 pixels or whatever, so what would show up on the form in this case would be a 9x9 grid of the image file over and over to create a grid.
Then the next step I hope to accomplish is to have that 20x20 square picture hold the grid(x,y) value for a mouse click. So if the image at grid(3,5) is clicked, it will give me that value, 3-5.
