What I'm trying to accomplish is that I want to create my own Binding Navigation along with other components hardcoded so that I can navigate through the DatagridView with my own buttons.. I am trying not to become intimidated or give up.I created a simple database and added stored procedures to read the data on a Windows form using Visual Basic in VS 2010.First I tried the Data Grid Example and all worked, I was able to view the data using a connection string to call the Stored procedure.I have stepped it up a notch by trying to bind data to form controls and I am getting this error message when I try to navigate through the data.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a form with a lot of repeated components. I'm making a touch screen control system with a GUI in VB.net. I would like to make it so when a textbox is pressed a form pops up (form1.show()?). This form is basically a number pad. The user can press buttons (0-9) to get the desired integer to appear in a text box in the popup form. When the user presses an "Enter" button, the popup form returns the integer value that was entered to the initial textbox pressed.

I have used the GNU gettext library for C apps, but going through creating a custom wrapper to interop for my VB libraries seems redundant. I know that there is the option (which I have used) of doing satellite assemblies for localizing the form, but for the strings that I have coded this does not seem to work. how to use the power of .NET to extra the strings from my code, put them in a string table and have separate string tables be called based on culture selected?

While I can understand that the original numbers cannot be exactly represented as double, I do not want this substitution, is there some way to prevent them? View 8 RepliesI have a problem with my program, and it's really bad because I need to burn it to disk within 12 hours and I can't get it to work: If I create a record, add information to it and click on Next Record, the ID, Status and Notes boxes content will change but the rest of the controls contents are carried over to the next record and I don't know why or how. Should I be trying to create the report template at design-time, and then "binding" a datatable to it at runtime?
I use objectbinding to display client data in a datagridview. The datagridview also contains a counry-column allowing the user to choose the country of the client.Unfortunately, databinding of comboboxcolumn does not seem to work if an own business class is used. Using a simple collection instead works well.Copy the sample code into a new windows project and the programm runs fine. Then comment and uncomment the two lines with "XXX" and the code will fail. View 3 RepliesI started programming in VBA, then graduated to VB6, and I am now using VB.NET 2008 Express.I have read, in the various posts, that I should keep Option Explicit and Option Strict both on, in order that I use correct VB.NET code and not VB6.I am trying to do that but am totally confused with the results of one of my programmes that was running perfectly with Option Strict off, but now advises:Option Strict On disallows late binding. To me it appears that I am using early binding, but to be honest I am not clear on the binding situation. But in a selection of dropdown in page 1 it decides page 2 should go to page 3 or page 4

It didn't disappear. I restarted visual studio, closed all open classes. It is just visual basic, when I try with c# I can hide and show it.

I'm learning WPF, and NavigationWindow in particular. I want to add stuff to the window, like a status bar, a favorite bar, etc. Unfortunately when I try adding anything, I get an error.
I'm hoping there might be a way that pages can be bookmarked as someone browses between them; let the user drag pages up to a favorite bar.
Something similar with the status bar; I'd like to have page specific information on the status bar, without having to have it on each individual page.
Is this possible with a navigation window, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I ended up putting the status bar on the individual pages, so that I can more easily change what's displayed from page to page, but the tool bar behaves nicely with the frame.
