View 6 Repliesi want to create an enhanced login screen for a windows vista computer. On my laptop i am able to scan my finger to login instead of using a password. This fingerprint scanner is a program/process on my computer. If this program is able to detect a finger print being scanned and then act accordingly on the login screen, even when the user has not logged in yet, then what i want to do is possible.
All i want to do is create my own security/login screen, perhaps mine can replace the default windows vista one on my computer.
So here are my main questions:
1. How do i make my program/process run on the login screen, before the user signed in? (So i may use my own login program)

I am looking to create a custom slide in menu that will host all of my modules for my application. The part I need guidance on is how to create the animation for the panel to slide in and out. I am looking to have a button on my application and when a user click on it I want it to expand down and right to show available modules. Is this done with the slider panel or a canvas, custom animation or something else?
View 2 RepliesI have a tab control on my MDI parent form that I want to have docked so just the tabs show from the bottom up on the screen. Then on mouse over it slides open to reveal another form/controls that are contained in the tabs.
Just to understand me a little better I am including some images.
The first is where I want the tabs to start. The second is where I want it to slide to on mouse over or click.
I thought of something quite cool i would like to try. Would it be possible to revert the mouse and the screen, so when you mouse your mouse up, the arrow stays still but the desktop moves towards it.

I have created a synchronized queue and am using SyncLock on the SyncRoot property of that queue when I invoke the Enqueue/Dequeue methods. The methods are invoked from instances of standard producer/consumer classes.Is that a proper use of the SyncRoot property?
Would it be better practice to create a private shared object in each class and lock on that instead?
I am trying to create an icon in the system tray as status for num-lock, caps-lock, and scroll-lock, because my keyboard that came with my computer does not have status lights on the keyboard, and only on the system tray.
The program however that came with it, does not like to work when I have some games open and stuff, it works usually in IE, and most other programs, but some programs just seem to interfere with it.
I have made a new program on a 1 mili-second timer for the 3 and it seems to work just fine in the application, I was wondering now if I could move that over to the system tray and make it look like the one that came with computer, it has 3 different icons, and the icon changes for on/off and has a tooltip status change on mouse-over showing status of on/off.
1. I have to create a file. 2. Then I want to write a string into the text file.
I can do part 1 no problem with: File.Create(strFilePath) But when I try part 2 to write to the file it won't allow this as it's still being used:
sw = File.AppendText(strFileName)
sw.WriteLine(strCode)
sw.Flush()
sw.Close()
My code in part 2 works fine on a file that hasn't just been created.
How do I release the file from the File object?
There doesn't seem to be a .close or .flush option.
i try to make an application that can communicate with the door magnetic device. So, when the visitor come to my house, i can control the door OPEN or LOCK using my PC.
