Database - Updatable Resultset And Recordset Exist In Firebird .NET Provider?
Dec 3, 2010
I tried Firebird with .NET Provider yesterday. Firebird was sure to beat SQL Compact Edition. I was amazed from it's features and precision. But I felt sad when I wasn't able to find updatable RecordSet/ResultSet features and functions in the .NET provider. FBResultSet doesn't contains anything, no rows addition, creation, modification, nothing. Anybody knows if this feature exists in Ado .Net provider of Firebird because there's no documentation.I would like to receive help because I am waiting to integrate Firebird in my freeware application. Also, if there's are replacement functions for implementing updatable RecordSet, ResultSet.
I am sitting with a situation that I have to combined (3 years) for 26 site of 29000 database files where there is 1 table in each data base called RECDATA, I need to combined all that data Into one database file called RECDATA.
For example there is a database called DB1 with a REDATA table inside it, and then DB2 with a RECDATA table inside it, DB3 with a RECDATA table inside it est. So I need to put all the Recdata into 1 Database file, or to copy all the RECDATA from all the database files to 1 RECDATA they all have the same columns All I need is to get all that data into 1 RECDATA table.
The program where this database comes from is a voicerecording system creating a new database every day. There is 1 database just for indexing (to view the recordings) and then the daily database is where the recording lies in, that Colum is called RECFILE. I will give you a example of the 2 database.
I'm using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition, so I have a combobox that gets filled with items from a data base made with Microsoft Acces, the combobox is filled with the values stored in a column from a table in de database so the user can select an "option" from it, I want to add labels that show the values for the corresponding row of that column. I used the Data Source panel to drag and drop the labels corresponding to the values that I want and it works it show the value that I want when I compile the application (at least I think it does, it could be that it's only selecting the first entry) the problem is that when I select a diferent entry on the combobox the labels don't refresh with the new values. How can I do that?
edit
how does Visual Basic Populates de combobox and gets the value of the other Acces DB entrys to change the .text value of the labels? And I mean the actual code that does that.
I work with vb.net I have a sqlServer database and i need to migrate to a DBF database.I know that a dbf file sctructure is a hexadecimal text file.I want to generate this file without a provider...building this file with this hexadecimal structure.
i have 2 computers - a Server and a Client pc which is running on local area network with MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2008 R2 Developer kit at the main pc and Client computer will need to connect to SQL SERVER at main pc using connection string.Let me named server computer as 'MAGNA-PC' and the client pc as 'LAC-PC' and database name is 'db_referafriend' so the code for MAGNA-PC(server) connection string is:[code] i GOOGLE and YOUTUBE for almost 2 weeks before i post . I know that i need to configure the sql configuration manager and enable tcp/ip also add a new port at firewall to allow remote connection also add the sqlserver.exe and sqlbrowser in firewall and I have also chosen "Using both TCP/IP and named pipes" under Remote Connections in the SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration. and all of this doesnt work!
Im' trying to retreive a recordset from a database on MSSQLSERVER 2008.For some reason it doesn't work at all.I try the ado commands (all the ones i've found so far) but i always get stuck somewhere.how to connect to my database and retreive data it would be really wonderfull. The data source binding stuff, all works but no success however with connecting a recordset.
This is the error I am getting: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException was unhandled ErrorCode=-2147217904 Message="No value given for one or more required parameters." Source="Microsoft JET Database Engine"
My code is : cmd = New OleDbCommand("SELECT [Employee] FROM [PhoneRecord] Where [PhoneNumber]='[(216) 370-1793]'", con) If con.State = ConnectionState.Closed Then con.Open() Dim sdr As OleDbDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader() <~~~ERROR While sdr.Read = True User1.Text = sdr.Item("Employee") End While sdr.Close()
This was working fine yesterday, today all I did was change the database and its location as well as update all the dataset objects, and now its not working. The only thing I am thinking is that I didn't copy the database to the program directory, but I tried to copy it into there manually and I am still getting an error.
I am attempting to run an update query on a Microsoft Access Database File and am not having any luck with the update. It appears to update the RecordSet but not the actual Access Database (when I run the following code, close the debug window, then re-open it a field referring to the Count_Value column reflects the update). I am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express to work with this code, if that is of any interest. If you could look through the code below and see what is causing the RecordSet to update but not the actut
Code: Dim strDBpath As String strDBpath = Application.StartupPath & "CourseData.mdb"
Iam having difficulty with what should be a simple program.I am trying to access a MS Access Database file (2003) using VS 2010 Visual Basic.It is a basic application of opening the Access database file and retriving informaion from one row of data. The Access file is called Billing.mdb containing the file in a table called Clients. My reference says to use the Provider as "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;
Debugging the program I get the following Error Message:
InvalidOperationException was unhandled
An error occurred creating the form.See Exception, InnerException for details. The error Is: Keyword not supported: 'provider'. The entire program is as follows:
<Imports System.Data.SqlClient Public Class frmProcess[code].....
I consider myself a very patient guy with a whole lot of determination to get things working within say, a program i'm working on. However, I feel that I am only wasting precious time that I could be using to actually gain knowledge in something rather than hitting my head against a wall accomplishing nothing. It was written in vb6 and im trying to rewrite it in vb.net. I've completely stripped the program down from all the unneeded fancy addons and now just have the needed code to run it. The program retreives the records, but does not populate these records onto a datagrid.
form1 Imports ADS_SQL_TEST_VBNET Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)

I think the problem lies within the LoadDataBound() Sub routine, but I can't say for sure since I was unable to fix this myself.
Dim PageNum AS Integer = 1 Dim ThePageSize As Integer = 30 Dim RowCT As Integer = 0
[Code]....
When I try to run it I get: "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Current Recordset does not support bookmarks. This may be a limitation of the provider or of the selected cursortype." The error page points to "Objrs.AbsolutePage = PageNum"
what I can do to get around it? It would kind of really stink to show 500 records on one page.
i get the date value from other field then need to insert it into other database. but the problem is when the column is null the n it cannot insert it.
I've created a small DLL, an addin for Autodesk Inventor, this addin saves some information provided by the user and the program to an access(mdb)database. The whole idea behind this is that it allows users to quickly find drawings, assemblies and so on.The DLL works great on x86 systems however it has issues on x64 because I used ado.net.In a attempt to solve it I forced .net to compile it with the target x86 CPU settings.
However using this I'm unable register the dll (C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727RegAsm.exe /codebase SavetoDatabase.dll )It says its not a proper .net dll file and therefore cannot be registered.
is there any other access-database connection provider (like dao or ado.net) that works on a 64 bit machine? Or do I need to change from mdb databases to another type (like mysql)? because sooner or later all machines its running on will be converted to x64.Or do I need to register the dll in another way?I've also tried to replace the conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 with ACE, with no luck however
Everyone here has always been such great help, either directly or indirectly. And it is with grand hope that this, yet again, rings true. For clarification sakes, the Stored Procedure is running under FireBird and the VB is of the .NET variety
how to insert image into blob field in Firebird/Interbase 6.0....I'm using connection trough ODBC ( "DRIVER=Firebird/InterBase(r) driver;UID=SYSDBA;PWD=masterkey;DBNAME=c:ibssdatabaseibssdemo.gdb "I can manage to pull into SQL Server 2008..but not for Interbase..here my code that giving error...(SQL -104)
If Not myReader.Item("PHOTO").Equals(DBNull.Value) Then ' Get the image from the database. Dim imagedata() As Byte = CType(myReader.Item("PHOTO"), Byte())
I have an application that is running fine. I just want to add the auto update feature in that application so that the application can automatically download the updates and install it on the computer.
I am putting together a very simple GridView, one of the columns is a CheckBox.I would like the checkbox to update the SQL table as it is checked, the field in my database is a bit field.Currently i have the following:
This allows the Checkbox to be checked and unchecked however it does not update my SQL Database. I have tried a couple of things but can't seem to get this to work. I am assuming i'd need to write a custom bit of VB around the 'OnCheckedChanged', i do not want an edit button on the page!
what is the fastest way to check if Item ID exist in the database?
From what i have done, i have an excel file uploaded to datagridview, then each itemID is retrieved line by line, then accessed the database to check if ItemID exists.
Is there a way to retrieve the whole column of itemID and then query it to MSSQL2000, then display the itemIDs that does not exist.
VS 2010, VB.NET, WINFORMS. In my app i have a need to import foxpro database tables and exclude the deleted records. The problem is that FOXPRO tables keep deleted items inside the same table. I have tried using DELETED=NO in the connection string but vb throws "Format of the initialization string does not conform to the OLE DB specification."
My function is as follows:
Dim _DBConn1 As String = "provider=vfpoledb.1; Data Source = " & file1 & ";DELETED=NO" Dim _DBConn2 As String = "provider=vfpoledb.1; Data Source = " & file2 & ";DELETED=NO" Dim _DBConn3 As String = "provider=vfpoledb.1; Data Source = " & file3 & ";DELETED=NO"
Google results pointed me in the direction of DELETED=NO but its throwing that exception error now that I have added it..
Microsoft Access is installed on the local machine and I created the database with Access 2007. Will read some of the similiar threads to see if my answer is there?
I recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64bit and ever since then I have had nothing but issues with my code attempting to access an Oracle database. I was using msdaora for my connection string however that does not work in 64bit. I changed over to OraOLEDB.Oracle which everything I can find on Google says to use however it fails every time. I have installed Oracle 11g 2 times now and even tried reinstalling VB.net 2010 and still no luck.
My problem doesn't seem to be with the SQL server. I executed an update statement inside the database manually against the view and I was able to update the Bar table. I'll close this and research the OleDbDataAdapters more since I think the problem lies with them.[code]...
